  1. I also found him quite useful as a secondary Trickster. That might sound dumb (and it probably is), but if you get screwed in Defences with him (which, let's admit it, is quite likely), you can have him as a character solely used for thieving purposes (with Lockpick, Movement+1, Acrobat and Pass) and an emergency Rescue-user. I know his magic is quite low, but I found that he likes to increase it from time to time (moreso than his Defences anyways).
  2. I see. The RNG really, really hates me sometimes. Not just in Fire Emblem, in other games as well. Thanks for the quick reply! :D
  3. As the title says, I want to know if the stat growths of Awakenings characters are somehow influenced by Asset/Flaw choice of the Avatar or if who they marry or not has something to do with it. Case in point: I am currently grinding everyone to max stats/halfway decent skill sets. My Avatar is a Grandmaster and has an asset in Skill and flaw in HP. I had Lissa and Vaike marry and, try as I might, Lissa never maxed out her Defence and Vaike never maxed out his resistance or magic, the latter of which isn't unusual, but the former kind of irked me, because in my female Avatar playthrough (+Spd/-Def, Swordmaster), Lissa married Libra and maxed out her defense no problem (in fact, after Luck and Magic, it was her FIRST maxed out stat. Both times, I grinded (ground?) her through all of her available classes once and had her end as War Cleric. Am I just terribly unlucky (as in, the RNG screwed me over with Lissa's Defence) or does one of those two things I mentioned earlier have something to do with it? Or could the Avatar's gender have something to do with it as well, because I had noticed that whenever I make a male Avatar, everyone, including said Avatar, who isn't a magic-based character, always has major troubles increasing Resistance by even a single point (Frederick, Stahl, Gregor, Vaike and even Lon'qu, who maxed Resistance without trouble in my female Avatar file), but whenever my Avatar is female, every character, aside from Vaike, Gaius and sometimes Gregor, maxes out in Resistance. Note that I always grinded (ground?) everyone through all of their available classes once. It always went like this: Base class to level 20 -> desired end class/promotion level 20 -> other first stage classes to level 20 -> every promotion to level 15 -> Bride/Dread Fighter to level 30 -> desired end class level 20. Thank you guys in advance and I apologize if this question is stupid, it's just something I had noticed. Note that this doesn't include children, although some of them are shaky in their Magic and Resistance growths sometimes, especially Gerome and Inigo.
  4. I mostly use Cordelia as a Falcon Knight to make use of her higher Strength stat and growth and Sumia as Dark Flier mage because of her superior magic stat and access to Tomefaire (and because of the badass black pegasus). Usually, Cordelia has these skills equipped: Armshift, Sol/Vengeance, Galeforce, Axebreaker, Limit Breaker, while Sumia usually goes something like this: Dual Guard+/Tomefaire, Luna, Pavise, Galeforce, Limit Breaker. In my current playthrough, I have both as Falcon Knights, though Sumia takes on the role of a healer with the skill a Cleric learns at level 10 (I don't know the english name, sorry. In German, it's 'Hände auflegen'). It's the one that makes staves more effective. So the two always fulfill different roles. When Sumia is a Dark Flier in my playthroughs, she is usually married to my avatar, who will then have a +Mag mod, while Cordelia is usually married to Gregor or Lon'qu (prefer Gregor, though, because it gives Severa access to Counter). I hope that helps, at least a little.
  5. I think there will be lots and lots of enemies on the harder difficulties that will have those two skills. Especially on the Nohr path, since, you know, Hoshidos Shuras are your enemies there... and I guess a few Samurai-related units will use the skill, too. Edit: Even meaner if they have Vantage, Counter and Miracle! THAT is one f*ed up combo right there... add Vengeance and you'll have an enemy that basically one-shots just about everyone it hits... I think I actually scared myself to death right now.
  6. Right. I just asked because going from her supports, I really like her character so far. Too bad she's worthless. Oh, well... I'm not that much into the whole "waifu" business, but I always had a special something for girls who could wield swords in RPGs, mainly because most women in RPGs are often-times healers or mages, so it was a nice change. I guess I'll just have a female character in Hoshido, then, because the other Hoshido females don't appeal to me that much character-wise and I'm not really that big of a fan of Felicia either (they overdid it with the whole cuteness factor), Azura is indeed SPOILER ALERT blood related to you, and Sakura is your little (step-)sister and she's underaged to boot, so yeah... female Kamui in Hoshido it is, then!
  7. I was going with this tactic a lot, especially in earlier FEs. Have someone tanky lure all the enemies and weaken them and then have the rest clean up. I dropped the tactic in Radiant Dawn and Awakening, but I think I'll be picking it up in Fates based on what you said and what some others say in the forums.
  8. Hm... this game seems to have many characters that would qualify as glass cannons, I see. So Guard Stance abusing it is... *sigh* Thanks for replying. :D EDIT: I see I will have to play a lot more defensively if I want to use my favourite characters. Until now, I always had a more offensive approach and as such, characters who had a lot of defense or could dodge a lot were my go-to people... I like Hana, too, so I'll see to it that she becomes useful somehow (like I did with Mia back in PoR). EDIT no.2: So Ryoma is basically this game's Seth/Laguz Royal/*insert broken character here*?
  9. Another option would be to switch her to Priestess and let her acquire Miracle. Or let her marry someone who gets Pavise. That way, she gets a bit more survivability. Well, if she's not worth it, I'll just make my own character a Trueblade... or I'll just use Ryoma.
  10. Doesn't Gunter have a child of his own as well? If so, if I marry any character other than him in any of my female Kamui runs, that child will be left in the dust... huh. Alright, thanks for the info again! :D Edit: Nevermind, Gunter DOESN'T have a kid. My bad.
  11. One burning question I have on my mind is the following: Are my absolute favourite characters (design- and character-wise) worth a damn? Specifically talking about Hana, Azura, Ryoma, Kinu, Velour, Flannel, Nishiki, Nyx, Odin, Luna and Elise. And another: How does skill grinding work, if you can't reset levels?
  12. Oh, crap. I didn't know that... Well, then I have to rethink... and I have a lot of time to do so. 2016 is still a long way ahead... Thanks for the info! :D
  13. Everyone's playing the game already and I'm just sitting here, waiting for 2016... *cries in French* Anyways, here are some of the pairings I thought up on the fly: Hoshido: MaleMU x Hana FemaleMU x Kaze Azura x Ryoma Felicia x Kaze Takumi x Oboro Tsubaki x Hinoka Nishiki x Sakura Yukimura x Orochi Rinkah x Saizou I'm not really sure about the others yet... Nohr: MaleMU x Luna FemaleMU x Odin/Flannel Azura x Xander Felicia x Kaze Lawzard x Pieri Odin x Elise Leo x Nyx Camilla x Benoit Flannel x Flora again, not sure about the others... 3rd Path: not sure about anything, really...
  14. The thing is: the aggressive approach with standard units in the Part 1 Endgame of Radiant Dawn doesn't work... because they all suck (mostly, but one to three characters can't beat the map on their own, not even Zihark or Volug... which are the strongest standard units the Dawn Brigade gets) (or I just suck, because I can't manage to do that...). So the game basically forces you to use Nailah/the Black Knight to plow through the enemies and kill the thief, since, with the alternative, the thief will escape with the treasure or you lose one to two units (which is suicidal with the Dawn Brigade, considering part 3). But on topic: I think a good example for triangularity is to choose not to use arena abusing (in Blazing Sword or Sword of Seals) or just playing through the game normally and pretend like you cannot grind (in Sacred Stones and Awakening). If you don't arena abuse, you will provide yourself with a challenge of having weaker units and if you manage to beat the game that way, you will have a big reward. But that involves higher risks, since you have to plan out more carefully who you train and when to use them. Same with the grinding. If you do arena abuse/grind, you can beat the came a little easier with a lot less risk involved, but the reward will be smaller. For the second question... well... I could think of a Fire Emblem game where attacking someone with a Weapon Triangle advantage (i.e. attack someone who has an axe with a lance) yields 1.5x more experience points and attacking someone with a Weapon Triangle disadvantage (i.e. attack someone who has a sword with a lance) yields 0.5x experience points. Or attacking with magic/Javelin/throwing axe from a distance does less damage than attacking with magic/Javelin/throwing axe from a close range if the enemy wields a close range weapon like a sword and reversed if the enemy wields a long-range weapon like a bow (neutral damage for enemies with weapons for both purposes, like Javelins or Magic) I hope I got the theory right...
  15. I think many maps are pretty memorable (at least from the Fire Emblem games that I've played so far.) Here are my personal favourites, if anyone's interested: FE7: Blazing Sword Chapter 16x(E)/17x(H): The Port of Badon Final Chapter: Light FE8: Sacred Stones Chapter 7: Waterside Renvall Eirika Chapter 14: Queen of the White Dunes Ephraim Chapter 13: Fluorspar's Oath Chapter 19: Last Hope Chapter 20: Darkling Woods FE9: Path of Radiance Chapter 7: Shades of Evil Chapter 11: Blood Runs Red Chapter 20: Talrega Chapter 23: The Great Bridge Endgame: Repatriation FE10: Radiant Dawn Chapter 1-8: Glory Unwanted Part 2-Endgame: Elincia's Gambit Chapter 3-5: Retreat! Chapter 3-7: Rivals Collide Chapter 3-13: Blood Contract Part 3-Endgame: From Pain, Awakening All of Part 4 FE13: Awakening Chapter 6: Forseer Chapter 14: Flames on the Blue Chapter 18: Sibling Blades Endgame: Grima Paralogue 23: The Radiant Hero Xenologue 12: Rogues & Redeemers 3 Xenologue 22: Apotheosis Xenologue 23: The Future Past 1 Xenologue 24: The Future Past 2 Xenologue 25: The Future Past 3
  16. Ah, okay! Thanks for clearing that up! Would be cool though, to have 2 versions of Yatogami, like we had 2 versions of the Falchion in Awakening... oh well. I guess Kanna will just get a forged brave weapon, then! But this may mark the first time (correct me if I'm wrong) that a character could switch between two transforming classes, which also really cool. That is, if you decide to marry Kinu or Velour (as a male) or Nishiki or Flannel (as a female). Aside from maybe a magic-based Avatar's Kanna, if you decide to leave them outside of their base class and make them a Spellcaster-related unit (although I hear Dragonstones are magic-based in this game)...
  17. This is a bummer, but since I'm hell bent on marrying Hana, it's good bye to Ricken 2.0 (was planning on benching him anyways, I don't really like the little kid that goes 'hurr, don't treat me like a kid' character archetype... Ricken was unbearable and I fear Tsukuyomi might be too... also, I really don't want a second Tharja. Though, Hisame is a close canditate for just giving up, too, since I don't really like either his or Hinata's design. For Nohr, I'll probably give up on marrying Joker/Jakob to anyone... or Xander. I'm not really a fan of both characters' children so far. I'll decide when the localization comes around. I'll probably marry Luna in Nohr, so... this IS going to be a problem. Children I really don't want to miss are Velour and Kinu. A Werewolf and a Nine-tailed Demon Fox. How cool can it get?!? Also planning on marrying one of the two in a second playthrough (third route will be either Aqua/Azura or Felicia). A character that can use both Dragon and Beaststones seems tempting. But we'll also have to see if this is even possible... also, Velour's supports with Kamui are kinda cute :3 Also, does anyone know if Kanna can use the Yato(gami) also?
  18. Which do you consider to be the best with which combination of Asset/Flaw choices for MaMU?
  19. Yeah, I couldn't stop laughing when I got these supports. And it's almost hilarious when you consider Brady's speaking habits and the way these two talk XD
  20. Thank you guys! :D I'll try both out and see which one fits my tastes better!
  21. Wow, everyone's ideas are really cool. I have to think on my own someday...
  22. I think Freddybear is a funny, dorky dude. His interactions with Chrom and other characters (Avatar, Tharja and Vaike during Summer Scramble) is just plain hilarity. Speaking of Summer Scramble. "I'm afraid my derriere is not worthy" is the best line in the entire game, no contest! XD Here are my 'fun' pairings: Chrom X Maribelle (because marrying your sister's best friend is just ASKING for trouble #headcanon) Vaike X Lissa (because it makes TOO much sense for Owain) Henry X Tharja (because it makes TOO much sense for Noire) Virion X Olivia (because it makes TOO much sense for Inigo and she crushes on him by the end of the A-support) Lon'qu X Cordelia (because Severa looks best with black hair) Frederick X Sumia (because opposites attract) Stahl X Sully (poor Stahl, but because Cavaliers) Ricken X Miriel (because both are mages) Gaius X Panne (because Panne-knight!) Kellam X Cherche (because why not?) Donnel X Nowi (because both are children) M!Robin X Severa (because reasons) Children: Owain X F!Morgan Brady X Nah Gerome X Cynthia Inigo X Noire Laurent X Lucina Yarne X Kjelle (poor guy, but she's the only one left)
  23. I don't think it's impossible. It's just harder to manage if you have more pairings and consequentially (is that even a word) children. That's why I asked if you wanted to DLC-grind.
  24. LOL! For me, Mia wins in all three categories. Micaiah, Ilyana and Sanaki (for cutest) are close runner-ups, though.
