  1. There really isn't a way to be much more tactical, depending on the order in which you kill the assassins the rn string could change slightly to your advantage, but the really only true hard reliable way is to sit in the arena and blow through the whole string.
  2. My favorite pairings are definitely not the best, but when just playing for fun; I like good pairings, but the ending with only males inheriting land kind of is the goal. AdeanxJamka: I feel like it's the best storywise, barbarian prince and the consummate girl next door princess meet and fall in love. It makes an okay Lester and someone inherits Verdane, feels like the best place for him too. AryaXLex: It makes for decent sword kids, and I find myself having a difficult time leveling them because they're footies. But more importantly, it's a pairing that makes sense and lets Shannan have an ally as duke of Dozel. LachesisxAzel: This is the one if I'm feeling like the end screen needs every male with some official land, and it makes for entertaining mounted kids, high magic, decent strength and pursuit. Alternatively: LachesisxBeouwulf; Makes great kids, I figure that Delmud will probably be duke of Nodion, so it's alright. Pretty easy to make too, no work. SylviaxClaude: Just an all around decent pairing, I don't much love incest, but they are kind of funny to watch, polar opposites and such, stuffy priest, slutty dancer, Corple becomes leader of House Blaggi, and Duke of Edda. FuryxLevin: The game pretty much screams "Canon alert" and Sety makes a good king of Silesia, makes too much sense not to do and bonus, no work. TityluxFinn: This pairing is the odd one, sort of tedious to make, and would be much more spectacular if Finn could have elite like Lex or would just talk to Tinny and give her 5 more magic, but all of Titylu's pairings kind of want to be to landed people and I like having Arthur inherit Freeage, though this isn't canon. The kids are actually decent, especially if you are really careful with the prayer range. Alt: TityluxAzel: Pursuit, good magic growth, good skill, and good speed. What's not to like and they definitely feel canon to me. (I really like Azel) BriggidxMidir: I'm not convinced that this isn't really the best pairing, gives Patty pursuit and it's easy to get her the thunder sword, but more importantly Faval stays in Jungby, and I feel really bad not letting Midir have Adean. 2nd gen is easy: The goal is to reestablish the dead Major holy blood lines CelicexLana, kind of reminiscent of Adean and Sigurd, who seem like good friends and a strong alliance for Celice in gen 2. LarceixJohan/Johavala: remake line Dozel, their son should probably be the next duke JuilaxAzel's son: Make her the duchess of Velthomer and remakes Fala's line FeexOifyae: A nice pairing and a good alliance for all men involved: Celice, Oifyae and Sety PattyxLester: Makes a strong alliance between Verdane/Jungby/Grandbell, and they are funny together TinnyxAmid: Yeah, I know they can't play together, but if Tinny is duchess of Freeage, I really want to restore that line and it makes too much sense, in that go around I imagine Sety being with Linda too. If Tinny isn't the duchess of Freeage, I like her with Sety. Gosh that was much too long :p.
  3. But Sigurd and Celice are still there. Celicia 5 Sigurd 14 Celice 19 Leaf 16 Eliwood 3 Ephraim 13 Elincia 4 Michiah 7
  4. Celica 13 Sigurd 13 Celice 15 Leaf 15 Lyn 9 Eliwood 8 Ephraim 14 Eirika 2 Elincia 12 Micaiah 14
  5. Obviously, everyone knows Gray+Blue=Green.
  6. Marth 8 Alm 8 Celica 11 Sigurd 12 Celice 13 Leaf 11 Roy 5 Lyn 15 Eliwood 10 Ephraim 14 Eirika 9 Elincia 10 Micaiah 15 Lucina 3
  7. He is joshing you Shadow. Those are features from the Jugrdal games and have pretty much been completely removed from the series. And some of the things people liked about Awakening is that they took out certain features from the game, like weapon weight and the magic triangle. For the record, I'd like all those that ScarletFlame mentioned back, but I don't see it happening.
  8. I feel live Fe4 Levin and Levin!Sety at least deserve mention as very powerful foot units.
  9. It's not as big as you think and we have a wonderful intrastate highway system. It only takes like 2 days to get across the whole country to drive, maybe that's a long time... hmm. Well questions, 1. If Tinny is your favorite mage girl, who is your favorite daddy for her? 2.What was your first Fire emblem game? 3.What year did you first play Fire Emblem? 4.Did you ever imagine SF being as large as it is? 5.What advice would you give to the many members of the site?
  10. Basically this is always the gist of it. Call it a dichotomous difference between the new games and the old ones. The new games that had a magic weapon triangle gave you zero reason to have magic users fight each other, so the magic weapon triangle was just silly clutter. On the other hand, if you've played the Jugdral games, the magic weapon triangle played a much larger role and no one had enough resistance to block powerful magic attacks. I like the magic weapon triangle, but if mages are going to have massive resistance like in RD or Awakening, there really isn't a point to it.
  11. I get that emulation is a pain and should probably be a last resort, but it's really the only way to play truly old games these days. The older games are very fun and they have merits to them just like Awakening does. To each their own, I don't love Awakening, but I appreciate it as a fun game. If I was giving you advice, I would say give the older games a try, even if some stuck-ups gave you a hard time about liking the new game; I imagine those who like the newer games are in the vast majority.
  12. Hell, I'll take the bait. But you're not the only one.
  13. Obviously, it couldn't be that way. You have Levin twice, Lex too. Though the first suggestion is mostly "best".
  14. I'd love to see a Jugdral based skill system return, give each character their own individual niche, and if they insist on pairings, make each individual pairing unique. Though, I even liked pursuit as a requirement for doubling, probably puts me in the minority. Personal skills just give characters a greater feel, granted I don't want reclassing back and it seems inevitable.
  15. My advice to you in terms of pairings is do whatever seems like the best idea to you based the character's interactions. The 2nd generation is remarkably easy just with the characters you automatically get, so just have fun with it. Then afterwards go back and look at the suggested pairings guide, I think there's one on the site somewhere: http://www.serenesforest.net/wiki/index.php/Genealogy_of_the_Holy_War_Pairing_Guide It's alright, old and nothing to die for though. If you really want to cruise through the 2nd half of the game, Momo's pairing suggestions are good, not my favorite, but good for a first playthrough.
  16. That theory obviously being dependent on how much it took to produce said product. If they feel like they put lots of money into game production and localization, they may not put the price down too much.
  17. Thracia has some guerrilla war tactics, especially in the beginning when you are running for your life.
  18. It was mentioned in the ending of Genealogy. It's the family crest of House Velthomer.

    y hi

Eh, what I do when I feel like actually posting instead of just lurking is go to the 'new content' tab click on it it, scroll down the 1st page, ie the most active one and click on topics that interest me.
  20. The high resistance is what I find most appealing about Claude!Fee, she can traverse the gauntlet of sleep staff users in the last two chapters. It's not like she needs more skills, pursuit and continue are sufficient, she pretty much has complete claim to the hero lance as well, which gets lots of use in the first gen, mostly due to being the main of leveling tool of Finn and Fury, so it always ends up with critical for me, and lastly those long range libro uses can come in pretty handy over the mountains, along with some magic sword utility.
  21. Thanks everybody, I'll keep the advice in mind. I know that the pairings aren't that optimal, but the 2nd gen is easy and I just can't resist the potential hilarity of that conversation between Dew and Lachesis. More thoughts: I always intend to use Noish because I know he's a great father, but I think I normally just feed the experience he needs to Azel (I like him too much) And Ardan is just so slow, it's painful to watch and I figure the big Thowmp and the foreign princess is a funny story
  22. I'm sitting here running through Holy War again with the intent purpose of promoting and breeding units that I have never used before (Noish, Dew, and Ardan). Well, I'm sitting at Anphony castle and finding myself having some difficulty with the later two. I already know how I'm going to breed them: Ardan-Arya, cause Arya's kids can't be messed up Dew-Lachesis cause I've heard about their conversation, but never read it Noish-Fury cause great skill set and letting Noish actually talk I'm just having a hard time training Ardan and Dew (Noish is easy, give him the skill ring, and chip for him). I figure I need to give Dew the light sword and let him fight the cross knights, what level does he need to be reliable at this? Any other ways to help him out? And Ardan, I just don't know, maybe have him fight the Madino pirates with the brave sword or something. Basically, does anyone have any way to make leveling them any less tedious?
  23. I'm dumb. Meant Radiant Dawn, it's soooo much longer. My reading comprehension skills are apparently lackluster.
  24. I'm sure you can get a Gamecube memory somewhere, like amazon or Ebay. That just sounds needlessly awful, but on the plust side, at least it's not Path of Radiance.
