  1. You're still missing my point and somehow insisting that I'm advocating it at all. Please consider that. I'm not saying anything about you, but rather defending your attempts to make it out like I am. Someone tried to throw extra fuel on the fire by saying "she's 13," of which, I said she's not 13. That's all. And you twisted that into me trying to say "it's not so bad, she's older than 13." Rape is bad no matter what the age. But at the very least, we can conclude that she's a little older than 13, so this circlejerk of making this even worse should be banished. It wouldn't matter if Rafa was 95. It would still be awful.
  2. It's fucked up that people would want to insist that's she younger. Think about that.
  3. It is. I recommend you play it if you haven't. I'd honestly say it's probably the best one in the series tbh.
  4. Even still, it says a lot about people trying to act like I am, and that really doesn't sit well with me. All I was trying to do was stop more fuel being thrown on that fire and people just don't see to get that.
  5. Holy shit. Are you people thinking I'm actually defending rape? Like... I'm done with this topic. That's nuts.
  6. No it isn't. The game has moments where it forces the characters to actually age. Ramza cannot be 16 in Chapter 2 for instance. He's forced 17. And certain moments in the game pass time regardless of what you do. That's because time isn't the main bulk of the story. It's still there from walking around. I'm actually curious the lowest every age could be at this point. We don't know that. All we know is that it happened sometime in the past. One would hope she wasn't a complete child when it happened, but it still doesn't make the rape fine. No. She's base 13 age. She'd be 14 at this point. Because the game forces an age up for everyone.
  7. No. It means that she's literally any age but 13. She could be like 30 by the time you reach that part. It doesn't make it any better. Calm down.
  8. To be fair, her age might not actually be 13 by the time you reach her, as walking on the world map passes time. She's set to be 3 years younger than Ramza, and IIRC she ages up 1 year because of Chapter 1. So it's not *entirely* accurate to say she's 13. Because she literally cannot be 13 by the time you reach her unless you cheated.
  9. I honestly thought it was trying as hard as it could to make a parallel between Ramza / Alma and Marach / Rapha. With Rapha being the "Ramza" in the relationship, and Marach being the one that needed saving like Alma, but Marach didn't want saving. It's botched, and the whole part is stupid, so I really don't know, but that's the only guess I can hazard and that he's supposed to be relentlessly unbelieving of Rapha to be the opposite of what Ramza and Alma do.
  10. I think no one would defend Malak/Marach. I mean, it's not like they have Rapha wanting to basically destroy her father, and all he stands for, but rather "I need my brother." It's... Honestly one of the sickest things I've seen in a game. I'm not even sure if it's supposed to be that rage inducing.
  11. It's hair. It's just how the game's art is. Mustadio actually has hair like that.
  12. Yeah, I was talking about old school Bioware games primarily where that was a thing of infamy in their designs. In Mass Effect, you at least have squad mates to stop that nonsense. In older SMT games, it made sense because you were binding demons to a contract, if you're dead, they have no obligation to heal you. In Persona 4 though? That mechanic can go screw itself. It makes no sense. Your party members will jump in front of you for a lethal hit, but if you get KOed, they no longer care? WTF?
  13. Absolute no-nos? Difficulty spikes where the enemies are too strong in the next area and force a grind, but the gap between the enemies that you last fought are too weak, and the ones in the next area are too strong. Grinding is not fun in my opinion and forced grinding is the worst.
  14. 1) Avatar. It adds too much to the game to just be removed. Having a fully customized character as the main lead is nice. I hope this stays, because having a sword main character pretty much every single time is just lame. And anytime we haven't had a sword lead, (s)he has had to share spotlight with some other lord that uses.... You guessed it, swords. 2) Fixing of mounted units. Seriously, cavaliers need to stop having 2 weapons unpromoted, almost no drawbacks to being used, and then having some of the best movement in the game. It's not enough to have a couple of slaying weapons around to keep them in "check." At least fliers are limited by something that's more common. 3) If they keep the attack stance and defense stances, no more swarming of enemies to force a player to pretty much use defense stance to survive. 4) Keep ambush spawns out of the game. That was a good thing that Fates did. It's more challenging and difficult than Awakening and doesn't have to do stupid things like that. 5) Bring back Fog of War-- it's the closest way you can make "ambush" spawns fair without instantly killing the player for its existence. Scratch is, just bring back weather effects all around. This could be a way to balance mounts as well because horses don't like being in the mud etc, would have a harder time moving through thickets etc. 6) More classes that can take advantage of the magic / strength split. As of now, there just aren't enough classes that do it. It's nice that classes like War Cleric exist and the like, but some like Dark Knight for instance rarely have any real reason to use swords over magic, and the characters you get usually have super strength or super magic which makes using the other weapon over the other a pretty boneheaded decision. 7) More dark magic please. Nosferatu being pretty much the only spell a dark mage can use is just dumb. I liked the spells like Luna, Eclipse, Mire etc. It made having dark magic pretty cool without having it step on anima's toes. Plus having more schools of magic was nice, as it stands, there are too many weapon types that use physical and physical alone. 8) Bring back capacity from RD. It's the best way to go about balancing skills and their usage. It also means that we can learn skills without having everything tied to level which results in people having a harder time getting five skills that aren't children. 9) Fix forge. The one used in Fates was horrible and darn near unusable. I don't know what they were thinking with that forge system as the other ones, while not masterpieces, weren't bad. 10) Old school supports that have limits on them for the sake of combining them for gameplay. As fun as it is to be able to go through 1 playthrough of Awakening and get all of the supports sans the child/parent ones, they really don't do much gameplay wise unless the characters are pretty much joined at the hip constantly. We hated hugging in GBA, why would you think we'd like it here?
  15. He's okay. If you use him, you'll be rich. If you don't, you won't have as much money, but honestly? You don't need that much money. Still, I use him whenever I get the chance to. He's a unit that can do well without much raising.
  16. Good point with what Eclipse said. People aren't necessarily trying to change your opinion, but rather, they are trying to express why their opinion may have some merit as well. There's a statement that I've once heard that has stuck with me for almost forever because I like it so much "argue like you're right, listen like you're wrong." I personally enjoy hearing other people's opinions on things as it adds a new flavor to my own thoughts and sometimes can serve as a gateway to even better / more interesting thoughts. The only time I actually start getting irritated / upset now when people argue / discuss things with me, is if the person doesn't even attempt to discuss the subject at hand, but would rather simply bash their opponent. And in cases like that, I usually just end up leaving the topic. I can think of one thing Eclipse said for instance in Fates that I don't agree with-- the subject of Peri as a character, but I do like the spin on the purpose of Peri and her interpretation of it. Also Ana, don't forget that people's opinions are a strange beast. You might like something now, but that doesn't mean that 10 years from now you'll still like it. Or vice versa. I used to really love anime when I was younger, but as I've gotten older, I've become less and less partial to it. Only a select few manage to even jog my interests nowadays.
  17. I say don't remake Blazing Sword/Blade, but rather combine it with Binding Blade. That way the world can get access to a new game and an old one as a bonus.
  18. No it doesn't. The reason that the magic triangle didn't matter is because of the imbalance between enemy mages and ally mages. Mages in the series that are enemies are generally weak. Like... Much weaker than the physical enemies. It really doesn't make much sense. The reason the magic triangle doesn't matter is because the mages generally do 0-4 damage to your mages. Your res is too high and the enemy magic is too low. Seriously, tweak the enemy numbers and formations and yours and you'll realize just how much it can matter.
  19. True enough. B isn't bad, it's just that he might not get an A with anyone, and he doesn't have many choices. I disagree about them not being significantly worse. Titania has hand axes, so does Boyd, Oscar has Javelin's and so does Gatrie. The only person that he's really debatable to have the same level of usefulness is Ike and Mia. And in Ike's case, you trade durability for 1-2 range. Mia is about the only one I'd say he's better than. For Erk/Lucious/Canas being better than Pent, that's because all of them start out as pretty good units. The difference is that Soren and Ilyana start out as okay units and then become decent if you put the effort into them. And staff rank, while nice isn't that important overall because even with physic staves, it's not likely you'd get so many that you wouldn't have to move your healer. I was responding to other people that were talking about Tormod > Ilyana. As for Soren, I acknowledge that he's better than her. As for Ilyana versus Calill, my point there was that both are about even because of staves versus slightly better combat.
  20. Honestly, I'd probably get Rally Defense if I was in BR.
  21. Provided the events are scripted correctly with the whether. There's a couple of rain maps that don't actually boost bolt spells. Particularly maps that aren't raining at the start of them.
  22. That's why I honestly mentioned the Seraph Robe, because the above support that I mentioned with 37 HP / 7 Def (12 with supports) will carry her for most of the game. Now I'm not a person that says that you HAVE to give it to her, but it's certainly more durability all around for Ilyana at crucial points, and if you're willing to give up a robe, you can have her be reasonably durable-- at least more durable than the other mages. Otherwise, you can do something like say... Zihark A x Mia / Mordecai which results in her having the same effect as Soren but with extra defense to boot. Like... Ilyana's supports crush Soren's. It's just that Soren's main support, Ike, is a guaranteed field, even if they aren't guaranteed a support necessarily. But honestly, if you're using Soren, he's probably going to at least get a B with Ike (that last support to A takes way too long to be reasonable unless you're planning on using Elincia to support with Ike or something.) Stefan is a good foot unit, but the thing is that Stefan would rather have Mordecai than Soren tbh. Closer movement is nice, and Smite to move Stefan faster if Mordecai isn't transformed. Agreed. Soren is probably the worst non-Mia unit in the game before deployment screens. That's not to say that he's bad, but he's not exactly good either. Availability only works when the character does something awesome like say... Titania being able to 2 turn Chapter 4. No one else can do it. Ilyana and Soren are worse than Lethe and Mordecai especially if you're using them as filler until someone better joins. Also agreed with this. Rolf used would never be stronger than Calill by the time she joins. Even crazier is that Calill comes for free with those good stats. If she HAD a staff and the ranks of it like her other weapons, she'd honestly be pretty close to Pent levels of usefulness. And I'd argue that siege tomes aren't necessary either. Having Ilyana and Soren instead of Rhys and Mist can be easier overall because it means that you can drop both from the team. Most of the time, I don't even get Mist to be able to be promoted anyways. Starting at level 1 at Chapter 9 really sucks. And it's hard to get her EXP without pointlessly wasting turns or drowning her in BEXP-- of which, I don't care to do that. IMO heal staves are enough to get through the game for the most part, and the only other ones I really care about are physic. Restore barely comes into play. Also, I'm really not seeing how people are saying Ilyana is THAT slow. Like seriously, look at their averages. 20/1 Soren speed = 17 20/1 Ilyana speed = 15 20/1 Tormod speed = 16 (and with luck, it's possible to be 17). Most of the time you end up around 20/5 by endgame, and Tormod would only have a speed advantage of 2 over her. He's not that much faster than her. Is he better than her? Perhaps, but then again, Ilyana probably isn't level 10 by the time you hit Chapter 15, because the idea of Ilyana only gaining 3 levels over the course of 7 chapters is ridiculous.
  23. True, Soren does take away EXP pretty soon too. And it's also true that promotion horse is better than walking on foot. The reyson argument is true as well. However, Mist being there doesn't take away from what Soren can do. Even if she could be debated as a better healer than Soren. It's something that Calill specifically cannot do. Ever. I do agree that both have better supports than Soren. As Soren's only really useful support is Ike. His long term combat will pretty much always be better than Mist's. And Rhys' is held back by the fact that light magic is stupidly heavy in PoR. He's pretty much never able to lift any of his tomes properly, and they have worse might than anima tomes. A Soren that promoted at 15 would still have better combat than Rhys on the account that Rhys has horrible base speed. They'd hit for around the same damage assuming both couldn't double, the difference is that Soren would have been a more competent fighter for the moments before later game. I'd say they are about even. Calill can use heavier tomes than Soren, and her strength advantage over Ilyana is nothing note worthy. The siege tomes are nice, but I don't think that I've ever really wanted to use them more than occasionally. Calill > Ilyana I still don't see because a 20/-- Ilyana would have a staff for healing, and slightly inferior combat--- IE, I don't think it's that Calill is bad, it's just that she's less versatile and adds less to the team. But then again, I'm of the opinion that Soren isn't much better than Ilyana. It'd be like Soren > Ilyana >= Calill (depending on if you rate the better fighting versus having staff utility and being decent in combat).
