  1. I'm OK with the aesthetic, but I'm not so big a fan of the refresh link being in the centre. That's where I click to close my notifications.
  2. In FE3 and FE6, the true ending and final boss was locked behind a collection quest. In FE3, it was the Starshards needed to repair the Starsphere. In FE6, it was the S-Rank weapons wielded during the Scouring. While the idea of locking the true ending behind something like this is hardly a beloved mechanic, I wonder... If we made the reward for doing so smaller, would you find a collect quest engaging? What kind of reward would you want? How would you alter the act of collecting the treasures to make it more fun?
  3. This question, purely from the fact we're currently losing by one point as of my vote, appears to be our make or break.
  4. Eliwood should've had Maltet. The guy had Lance expertise in FE6.
  5. @Interdimensional Observer is currently running a survey on character development in the "Golden Era" of Supports to figure out if it's really as golden as it appears. I have submitted my first assessment, of Eliwood, Marcus and Lowen, and I believe that I have a hypothesis on what is causing this problem already. And it can be traced back to one character in particular: Lowen. The dude is obsessed with food, carrying around a bulky pack of emergency rations and holding firmly to the belief that not being well-fed is the leading cause of poor performance. Compared to the average target in the 3DS era, he fits right in. So why do I believe that to be the case? Three reasons, mostly. 1) He has no or limited mention of food outside of his Supports. If you do not go to the library, you might never know this is his personality. 2) Supports are limited in FE6-9. Without killing his partner (who does that when supporting for character development), you can only read one full conversation per playthrough of Blazing Sword. It's only by reading all five conversations in rapid succession that the character trait begins beating you around the head. 3) Five is still less than fourteen. Lowen only has five opportunities to expound his beliefs on food, and he occasionally makes room for other character development. Awakening character Stahl has fourteen conversations, not counting his Parent/Child ones (but counting both Avatars as separate), which means that even if Stahl only expounds his character trait half the time, he still expounds it more often than Lowen has Supports. I'll be interested to see how the Survey continues, but I'm fairly confident I've found a start. But I suppose we can only wait and see what remains to come- we might find something completely different. But my understanding of science is that one should have a hypothesis at the ready to confirm or disprove. Let this be that.
  6. Eliwood: I find his supports rather safe, and I don't think highly of Eliwood's participation in each. For the most part, aside from Hector, he seemed to just be someone who existed for the other character to demonstrate their trait and for Eliwood to talk back to them. In some- namely, the girls and Harken- Eliwood reflects those personalities at the tail end and presents a kind, affable air to comfort their target. Marcus and Lowen, on the other end, continue to overshadow him for their own personality, to Eliwood's clear chagrin. Hector's conversation is special in that the C-rank conversation appears to lead into a developed set, only for B and A to switch tracks to Call Forwards to Binding Blade ("Hey, I had a dream that I will have a daughter and you'll have a son!" "Hey, don't give me any excuses that you're sick while I'm in trouble!"). I'm going to rate Eliwood at 7. He is good when he is given the spotlight, but his supports do not often offer that. Marcus: Marcus's knightly honour is front and centre this time, and he will emphasise that he is one of Pherae's foremost knights of the realm. Well, when he isn't chilling at the back of the pack with Merlinus. His supports outside of Merlinus are only with Pheraen knights, and it shows. Isadora and Harken felt rather similar to me, actually. His support with Merlinus is very approrpiate for the old guy at the back protecting the supply lines, but the support gets worse at the end for reasons a tad more related to Merlinus himself. Marcus sits at a 3. His conversations are overall blandly similar. Lowen: Emergency rations. Lowen will tell you that he has them. Marcus was thankful to encounter them only at the end, and Harken got a heartfelt moment about his origins as a knight in the B support conversation, but apart from that, rations, food, and cooking. Lowen's support set is also identical to Marcus's, with Rebecca in place of Merlinus. I must say that I'm impressed that Lowen does not bring up his emergency rations outside of his supports, at least not that I'm familiar with. Lown sits at a 2. He has a gimmick, but he does still have a character to shine beyond it.
  7. I'm going to put Eirika and Ephraim as both post-FE8, but Ephraim more so. Ephraim's confession quote includes: "I mean that strength isn’t always enough to protect us. Yes, it helps force a foe to submit. But strength can also blind one to others’ feelings. That is exactly how I once lost a good friend." One of Eirika's lines when poked: "My brother and I, and our friend, Lyon… We once had grand ideas about the future." Eirika's is less certain, but I think she'd actually be more inclined to speak in past tense about Lyon after he died. Also, I think some description jabs with her gullibility again, which is Chapter 18.
  8. I think the difference is Eliwood/Ninian has much more in-story support. The same can be said about Lyn/Hector. As for my personal idea... well, call me crazy, but I'm going to place Florina as pre-Lyn's story.
  9. I agree, and I'm fairly sure that the (lingering) backlash against it is why we have full supports instead of templates in the 3DS era- which highlights why templates are useful.
  10. Lunatic-4 on the FEH quiz was about shops (specifically, Secret Shops), and I figured, well, why not ask how you like to do your shopping in Fire Emblem? These appear to be largely battle shopping, overworld shopping, base shopping, and mixtures of the three depending on the game. For example, FE7 is entirely battle, while FE9 is entirely base. FE8 has a little of all three. My personal preference is towards base shopping- honestly, the process of kitting my units out is something I prefer to do in a clearly 'Preparations Phase', and base shopping helps me do that. Overworld shopping comes close, but is limited in store-to-store availability and what enemies hang around. And battle shopping requires some kind of pack mule, especially when the Member and Silver Cards get involved.
  11. Though Thracia being Thracia does make its way to second.
  12. ...Is Guy the only Navarre archetype who can't be recruited by a girl? Wait, never mind, Ayra.
  13. The correct answer is indeed Zephiel. Vigarde is the Emperor of Grado, and Arvis is the Emperor of Granvalle (and Judgral as a whole).
  14. The Lunatic 1 flashbacks... how's Sanaki doing again?
  15. Eh, that makes sense. I don't think there's another Emperor hanging around, too.
  16. ...I can't argue with that, entirely on the basis I don't have an argument ready. But really, my point was her design, and those were the pictures I had ready. PoR's short hair and conservative robe makes her look much more gender-neutral than her long hair and... whatever it is her robe's doing in that game. I still guessed she was a girl first time I saw her (...it was a while ago, though, so I don't remember), in contrast to Arvis, who I never thought was a girl, despite being very confused about Midir and Dew.
  17. In fairness, this looks pretty masculine: But when her newer art looks like this:
  18. Somewhat disappointingly easy for me, though I could imagine someone tripping over the wording easily. But why is Sanaki here? She's an Empress and a girl! I'd understand if it were a Queen, but an Empress who goes by Apostle?
  19. Frelia. (Hey, as you mentioned, he is Tana's father, and the only one of that cast I recognise is Ishtar's.)
  20. According to my spreadsheet, this is Charlot, Scipio, Cimbaeth, Deimne, Bloom, Danann and Glade. I don't recognise them all by name, but the notes do state that they are all Jugdralian. Coincidentally, 9th least voted was a Tellius character (Daniel), followed by Akaneia (Frost), Magvel (Hayden) and then more Jugdral characters.
  21. ...Do you think we're ever going to get a gauntlet without an outlier?
  22. Nope. My cast of pegasi was Caeda, the Whitewings and Subaki, the latter being my only 3*. (Well, I think Palla was initially, but then she was promoted when I completed the set...)
  23. ...Yep, definitely new. A passing familiarity with me is proof enough that my reaction to getting a pegasus knight is basically equivalent to me getting a five star (not that I'd know what that feels like... I've only done it with the one Effie, and I honestly was more excited for the pegasi). Florina is my 'actually wanted one of these!' character.
