  1. On the topic of turn counts, do both player and enemy phases have to occur to officially pass a turn? Because I can feasibly complete a lot of the dungeon battles before the enemy gets to move if I get a surprise attack. Also, what if the enemy gets a back attack and gets to move first? Does that count as a turn?
  2. I think Alm could have used to be a little more agressive, to compensate for Celica's passiveness. It should have been more like Eirika/Ephraim, who were actually based off of the original Alm and Celica anyway. He was also a little too perfect. Maybe if he'd harbored a bigger grudge against Rigel and Berkut in particular. "What? You sacrificed your fiance for Duma's power? You're sick, dude! I'm gonna kill you!"
  3. My favorite would have to be Echoes. It did an amazing job remixing Gaiden's tracks, embracing the simplicity of the original 8-bit score while adding some modern character. It felt nice to listen to all of the revamped versions of "With Mila's Divine Protection" after hearing it in Brawl for all these years. The original tracks were pretty neat as well. "Scions Dancing Into Purgatory" features several elements that I've never heard in a Fire Emblem OST before. Finally, I found the vocal track that plays over the credits, "Heritors of Arcadia", to be better than Fates' "Lost In Thoughts All Alone." My previous favorite was Awakening. I thought they managed all of the different motifs pretty well, with "Don't Speak Her Name" and "Id (Purpose)"
  4. Poor XBOX. All it ever really got was Halo 5, and that didn't turn out very well at all. My advice would be to stay a generation, maybe even a few generations behind. You can get a used PS2 for $20 through the right avenues, and while it isn't the strongest console ever, back in its day it was the best thing they had and people had lots of fun with it. Just because the technology is outdated doesn't mean the games aren't still fun to play. My recommendations would be: Wii: You've already got one. There were a few good RPGs that came out on the Wii (Xenoblade Chronicles and Tales of Graces come to mind), but for just about $15 you can get a Gamecube memory card and controller, which gives you access to many of the greatest Nintendo games ever made as well as a fair amount of excellent RPGs. Now getting the actual games can be a little bit costly, but with a bit of luck, you can find some golden options for a low price. Playstation 2: This console is cheap, easy to find, and has a TON of games, even without counting in reverse compatibility with the PS1. You mentioned liking Final Fantasy? Every Final Fantasy game from 5 to 12 is available, in some way, on the PS2, not mentioning Tactics, Vagrant Story, and just about every other great RPG that came out from 1996 to 2006. Wii U: This is a weird one, but bear with me. With the rising popularity of the Switch and the diminished interest in the Wii U, I'd estimate that the price on Wii U's and their games will drop quite a bit over the next few years. Of course, with its limited library, there's still not much incentive to buy one. Well, except for the biggest Virtual Console collection of any Nintendo System. Counting in reverse compatibility with the Wii, that means the Wii U can play (almost) any Nintendo game from any system except for the Gamecube and the 3DS. It also has Breath of the Wild, which pretty much doubles whatever value it used to have. So if you're a big-time Nintendo fan, this system is kind of a must-have. If you need something new, the PS4 is probably the best as things are now. However, with the Switch gaining popularity, there's a lot of potential that in the future, the PS4 will be getting less exclusives and have to share some of it's titles with the Switch. Being able to play console games on the go is not something to be trifled with, and it is well-worth the trade-off with quality. Here's to hoping that Final Fantasy 7 Remake I've been anticipating for the past several years gets a Switch port.
  5. It's a southern phrase. It doesn't refer to a specific person's name, it's just something we call people sometimes. Southerners are funny that way. Didn't you ever watch Duck Dynasty?
  6. "What goes around comes around..." "You got a death wish?" "OK, now I know you're an idiot!" "Time to hit the road, Jack!"
  7. Yeah, I got my first one from Deen. I was real excited, thinking it would double attack. When I figured out what it really did, I was a little disappointed. But Jesse having a 60% chance of doing triple damage isn't that much worse than double attacking!
  8. That poor villager in the Sage's Hamlet... if only he'd phrased his instructions more clearly, seeing as he was going to... um... whatever it is that happens to him... yeah.
  9. I volunteer in Sunday School. One of the kids in my group was recently bragging about how they had fourteen fidget spinners at their home. Seriously? There is no possible way you could need all of those spinners! Then again, we thought Beyblade was cool...
  10. Unintentionally just disclosed their gender.
  11. I liked the story. Yeah, it had its issues, but it still kept me interested. I really liked the gameplay too, though, so my opinions might be a little off track of what everyone else thinks. In my opinion, 7, 9, 8, and 10 all have better stories. However, the excellent writing and voice acting in this one made the story feel a lot realer to me.
  12. If you kill 200 enemies in the Seaside shrine, then shanty Pete shows up, reprimands you for not using the DLC, and then has his parrot whisk whichever one of your units has the highest rating away to Thabes Labyrinth. You can then fight Shanty Pete, winning this battle is nearly impossible because he has the stats of FE7 Fargus but if you do, you will gain access to his parrot which can take you anywhere on the world map without enemy encounters. I'm pretty sure that's what happens. I could be wrong, though...
  13. Do we have food in this locked room? Ah well, I guess I'd eventually have to eat Corrin. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.
  14. Put Mae and Genny at the top of the right-hand side of the map in preparations. Use them to bait out the arcanists with their high RES, and send in Saber, Celica, Valbar, or anybody else with a decent shield equipped. Have Palla and Catria pick off the brigands at the start. If one of your characters has learned the art "Defensive" with the Steel Shield, that would be really helpful for getting weak characters into the archer's range. Keep your Peg Knights near the wall while outside of the archer's range, they can be very useful for picking off weakened enemies inside the palace. That's all the advice I can come up with. It took me a long time to beat this map too, and the final stretch can be especially hard due to that stupid AVO bonus tiles give. I know you're doing blitzkrieg and all, but it really helps to have a Genny with Physic and Celica with Recover.
  15. Aside from what has already been recommended (no kidding about Final Fantasy Nobuo Uetsamu is a genius), have you picked up any Legend of Zelda yet? Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and Link Between Worlds have a lot of amazing tracks, and I hear Breath of the Wild has a few neat songs too. Also, I've been playing through FE Echoes and the music is amazing! I'd even say better than Awakening and Fates.
  16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbVlGESh9Mc I think your dream rocks! I kinda wish that I could go off and live in a cave all alone too, but if I did that, how would I also do all my other dreams? I've always wanted to work at LEGO, Disney, or Nintendo, or any other company that involves making people happy. More realistically, I'd like to get a job as a counselor, so if you want free life advice, just PM me! Cheaper than therapy!
  17. Alright, so I'm a Christian. And I'd like to make an... interesting proposition. Suppose that there really is a single true religion that, as the greatest force in the world, guides millions of people to live better lives and treat those around them with respect and dignity. In that hypothetical world, wouldn't you expect the thing most detrimental to humankind to be a perversion of that religion? Something that masquerades as the true religion, and then, taking advantage of people's ignorance, applies the zeal that would be rightly applied to the true religion to more carnal, harmful acts? I think that's exactly what we see today. Look at ISIS. Most Muslims I've met were truly kind, generous people, and one of the things that contributes to that is their devotion to their faith, which inspires a lot of their good deeds. However, in Iraq and Syria, you have people who are also devoted to their faith. But because someone exploited their anger and ignorance, they are now fighting for a cause that is not really validated by the Quran or other generally respected Islamic teaching. The same could be said of Middle-Ages Roman Catholicism. Christian principles are based around charity and grace, but during medieval times, the so-called "Christians" showed anything but! I wouldn't say this is universally true. There are a lot of truly brilliant people in the world who are also religious. Several religions can be (at least partially) scientifically validated, and there are many people (like myself) who believe in a religion due to well-founded logical conclusions. True, in Palestine, many people are religious and they are also idiots. However, in Saudi Arabia, the people believe in the same religion, yet are very far ahead in development. Just look at all the people on Forbes 400 who are Christians, Muslims, and Jews. I think the concept that religious zeal is born purely of underdevelopment or lack of education can be dismissed.
  18. I don't know about this. On one hand, I don't want to get overclassed. I would prefer a game with sixteen classes, each having their own very distinct differences, over a game with scores of classes that are almost the same stat-wise. On the other hand, I think PoR did a great job with its mounted units, giving me mounted options for each major weapon without overcrowding me with mounted units. It should be remembered that mounted units, simply by nature of their mobility, have quite a lead on their infantry counterparts, and the only way to balance this is by making them weaker (which would really just annoy me), rarer (in which case they're still OP, but there aren't enough of them to fight a battle without foot units), or give them a class weakness like what pegasus knights have (which is the best option in my opinion). I mean, in PoR, fire magic was effective against beasts, right? Couldn't it be made effective against units who ride beasts?
  19. Nope. IS totally needs to get rid of Classic mode. And while we're at it, let's go ahead and have Mario auto-jump and make a Final Fantasy game without Moogles, airships, or people named Cid.
  20. The homeschooler in me wants to make sure you get her father's permission first. Shut up, stupid homeschooler Sully! You always make it so hard to socialize with normal people! In all seriousness, you should probably go to a restaurant. Olive Garden is my preferred date location because the food looks expensive, but isn't really. You could also take her to a less well known place you trust, because that will show a little bit of personality on your part. The homeschooler in me wants to tell you to take her out to Chik-Fil-A, but that's a horrible idea. Don't take her out to Chik-Fil-A. And make sure you don't do what one of my sister-in-law's first dates did and expect her to cover half of the bill at the end. Be a gentleman!
  21. Anna. She'd have me out of there in a trice! WCWY NOT trust to take care of your pet while you were on vacation?
  22. Name: Zidane Tribal (also from FFIX) Class: Thief -> Trickster Affinity: Light Movement: 5 HP: 18 (75%) STR: 5 (45%) MAG: 3 (25%) SKL: 6 (55%) SPD: 8 (65%) LCK: 7 (50%) DEF: 3 (35%) RES: 2 (30%) Personal Skill: Virtue (Will occasionally block enemy attacks targeting lower leveled units within three spaces. Trigger% = SKL) Personal Weapon: Mage Masher (8 MT, 80 HIT, 10 CRIT, Effective against mages)
  23. Yeah, that bothers me too. But really, when you think about it, changing out mounts isn't something that just happens to flying units. Why is it that in the GBA games, all of your cavaliers' brown horses turn white on promotion? I think that the way to fix this would be to give mounts a little more individuality. Characters should be able to choose between their horse/pegasus/wyvern of choice, with each one having its own unique appearance and stats. I also think it's kind of weird that FE always has more flying mounts than ground mounts. I mean, in reality, mankind has used a whole bunch of different animals for various purposes on the ground, but there are no historical records of men riding pegasi or wyverns. Come on Intelligent Systems! How long until we get donkey/bull/camel/elephant/dogsled/Panne mounts?
