  1. DW8 really is a gold standard for the genre. I just don't understand how the games afterward haven't been up to par with KT's love of recycling assets and mechanics. You'd think that something like cloning and lack of weapon variety in DW9 wouldn't have been a thing.
  2. I would happily embrace his suggestion on the weapon swaps to differentiate clones. It would add much needed variety through combinations of cloned movesets. Hell, it could possibly even justify the existence of clones as a good thing.
  3. I see. In that case, perhaps the best approach to Robin is to equip him against the common threats at high tier in a similar way to Micaiah. Robin - High Deliverer Grima's Bane Mt. 14 Effective against armored foes and dragons. Refine - HP +3. Against armored or dragon foes negates foe's bonuses (from Fortify/Rally) during combat.
  4. TA is in itself a bit of a questionable skill. They basically destroyed his main build by introducing Cancel Affinity (a skill which quite frankly should not exist), which most of the colorless units Robin is designed to counter now take as part of their recommended build. When coupled with the new existence of colored bows, Raven tomes are simply not what they used to be anymore. It seems to me that for a Raven Tome to be useful as the primary effect of his prf weapon, it either has to come with an upgrade that gives him a strong enough enemy phase alternative to TA (like Owl tome effect), effective damage against Bows, Dull Ranged, or a similar skill that allows him to reliably tank enemy phase.
  5. I could see the complaint about Robin being a pure support. He faces a similar problem to Odin, that his stat spread is so poor that fixing him would require a powerful support playstyle or a grotesquely overpowered weapon, especially now that his niche (as an enemy phase anti-bow unit) has been damaged by Cancel Affinity. Hawkeye's initial weapon effect literally already exists on Brave Ike - a much better (and still not broken) character.
  6. A few more ideas: Robin: High Deliverer The Art of War Mt. 14 When Assist skill is used, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res +3 to target and restores 10 hp to target. Refinery Skill - HP + 3, Spur Spectrum (Grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res +3 to allies within 1 space during combat). Hawkeye - Desert Guardian Guardian Axe Mt. 16 If unit receives consecutive attacks, reduces damage from foe's second attack onward by 80%. Refinery Skill - HP +3, Patience (If foe initiates combat, unit will not retaliate until all of foe's follow-up attacks occur. Foe's first attack deals 30% reduced damage and grants Special Cooldown Charge +1 to unit. Only highest value applied. Does not stack.) Lukas: Sharp Soldier Deliverance Mt. 16 Armored Blade - If unit's Def > foe's Def, grants Special cooldown charge +1 per attack.(Only highest value applied. Does not stack.) Refinery Skill - HP + 3, Victory or Defeat (Grants Atk/Def +5, Inflicts Spd/Res -5)
  7. To be honest, I am thoroughly unimpressed with Julius as a unit. His stats are pretty standard for his family and his tome is a fairly pointless gimmick that won't generally make a significant difference against both normal and dragon slaying opponents. It might help him tank mages, but there are tomes that do so more elegantly. He really should have just been a dragon. At least then, he'd have a unique role as a ranged dragon unit.
  8. Wouldn't F!Grima break that trend, unless we open it up to occassionally be broken by other random characters.
  9. Wind is a common affinity, of which we already have two ranged heroes, one of which is a tome. And every playable character that doesn't belong to Gen 1 of FE4 fought in a war and won; that in itself isn't legendary.
  10. Why would Nino even be considered for a legendary spot? Even if she is moderately popular (?), what has she accomplished that would even make her a candidate?
  11. How about Xenoblade? I personally hate the Xenoblade games, but they do have the type of vibrant setting and cast to build a Warriors game around.
  12. I found myself laughing at this because of my own inside joke. I always had this headcanon of Oscar keeping that joyful, relaxed expression even while mowing down hordes of enemies, and I loved him for it. My personal version of Oscar was basically Peri, but not shit.
  13. The thing about Robin is that the Levin Sword perfectly represents his unique tactician class, being an unorthodox magic-damage sword. It doesn't have the same synergy with Marth or a vast majority of the roster in general. While Smash didn't suddenly make it his personal weapon, it did help to associate it with him more strongly than with any other character.
  14. To be honest, Geneology's story would make a fantastic framework for a crossover, with characters from across the franchise (albeit, I would personally prefer that the Tellius series - by far their best universe - serve as the core story inspiration). The story we got was effectively Sacred Stones lite with cliffnotes versions of Fates and Awakening set inside. But aside from that, we do have history mode to potentially tell important stories from across the franchise.
  15. As perhaps it should be. It's mechanically one of the best Warriors games. My frustration lies only in so much of the franchise being unrepresented in a game that exists solely as a celebration of said franchise. I'm just hoping to get a sequel.
  16. One can use rhetorical speech while still saying something factually accurate. And how would that be different from the status quo? 3 of the 9 DLC characters were sword characters, with 2 being clones. We didn't need them. One of the dlc characters was a 4th clone of the same archer moveset. We didn't need him. Fact is, the dlc barely helped weapon diversity, aside from giving us a couple infantry lances.
  17. Not melodrama. Fact. And ultimately, the decision to intentionally hold back some of the most important characters to potentially sell a sequel that was not yet agreed upon or licensed was on Koei. Calling something vitriol or vocally hateful doesn't make it illegitimate. The fact that there was such a backlash implies that there is a cause of said backlash. That's how PR works. And I am happy for the 1 million sales. That's great. I represent two of those copies myself. FEW is my most played Switch game. I've given the game positive reviews and word of mouth. But that does not mean that I should just accept the final word on the game being "it's all over. Dunno if there will be a sequel. Sorry if none of your favorite games were represented. Now let's talk about ass and legs."
  18. Honestly, this interview frustrated me. They are the ones that held core, essential, fan favorite characters hostage for a sequel. That means they should follow through and make it clear that they are absolutely following through. I love the game we got, but it isn't half the game we deserved. And this isn't half the interview we deserved either. We deserved a focus on the future, not talk of fetishes and Olivia's perfect ass.
  19. Nay. Always nay. Gender locked classes are nothing but lazy design in any game.
  20. Well, Warriors games are all about dumb fun... so, I guess you could say the laughably inept PR is in character.
  21. We have Robin as a representative of the game that saved the franchise, and he/she does enough to be distinct and justify their placement. Lucina is such a blatant clone of Marth that she literally steals his identity. If that doesn't say costume, I don't know what does. You could spend the development resources to make her stand out (as you can with literally anyone) but, quite frankly, that is a waste of money and resources when you can just use her properly as originally intended and put the resources into someone who is unique from the start - like Lyn, Hector, Micaiah, Ephraim, or countless other characters from this incredible franchise. Also, I don't appreciate the dismissive attitude. Roster real estate is a thing, even if only in player perception. Regardless of whether it is an issue of actual mechanics (ie - UI efficiency) or only player perception, it is absolutely a development consideration.
