  1. From what I remember he was shocked that he even had a Western Fanbase, and discovering that they exist is part of the reason Vesteria Saga got a translation. To be fair that was literally the first of his games to leave Japan. I don't remember having much issues with crits, but if you are having issues with them a few ways to mitigate them come to mind. The first is to grab Percy (Arthur's son) as his personal skill increases the crit avoid of all allies within 2 spaces of him by 15, another is to have some of the basic E rank weapons on hand for the +10 crit avoid they give when equipped (not always an ideal option, but if you can forge some those they are alright weapons), another is that being in defense stance gives a +5 crit avoid in combat, I think someone already mentioned luck rally (the dance bonus also adds a little luck as well, but that bonus tends to be incidental...), and finally some adjacent support partners also add crit avoid based on support level (see here for details: https://serenesforest.net/fire-emblem-fates/nohrian-characters/supports/support-bonus/)
  2. Part of the reason I like going for the Sorcerer's level 15 skill, Bow Breaker, before climbing the wall (it helps a lot in that section of this map as well...) is to make the Takumi fight here more reliable. I am definitely a Conquest fan, generally put it in my top 3 FE games, although whether Thracia or Conquest is no. 2 or 3 I haven't really decided. As for Three Houses...I rushed through all paths as fast as I could, and while I liked it at first, I hated it by the end, and it was really clear to me that part of the reason was that I was forcing myself to finish all these paths well after I stopped enjoying it, and I have not felt like playing it ever sense. I generally don't talk much about 3H as its clear to me that a big part of my dislike is that I burned myself out on the game and kept going anyway, and that is less about the game, and more about how I in particular played it. My plan is to come back to it eventually with hopefully enough distance and time to better engage with it, although when that will be I don't know yet. As for the other Fates games, I have always found Birthright incredibly boring, which is the worst thing an FE game can be in my book, although my feeling on Revelations rather softened after my Pick My Unit run of that game, as that game is a lot of fun with some weird challenge run attached to it. Its a lot like Shadow Dragon in that way, as I also really disliked that game, until I came to appreciate that the challenge runs make that game a lot more fun as well. I will also add that I probably fall into a TMS:FE# fan, as I really enjoyed. It is the game that most made me feel like I was playing a Magical Girl Anime, and it reminded me a bit of Zone of the Enders, as that is the game that most made me feel like I was playing a Mecha anime. I think this was kinda accidental, but capturing the feel of that genre in game form was an interesting experience that I rather enjoyed, but it feels odd to talk about on an FE forum, as despite it theoretically being one, it isn't.
  3. Thank you Saint Rubenio Thank you LightCosmo, she was with me for so long, and I want to treasure the memory of our time together, but the grief is still a little too fresh for me to really focus on that. Thank you Shrimperor Thank you Dragon Flames
  4. Thanks Sooks. Honestly just having the chance to write up my feeling about her death there helped a lot. Thank you, your statement was as true as can be. I hope you have a furry little friend nearby that can give extra pets just for me. Also I find your current Profile Picture a little comforting, as it clearly takes inspiration from the Chinese guardian lion statues, which I have always though were modeled after the Puffy Lion Dog (a direct translation of the Chinese name for the Chow-Chow, which was the breed of my dog) which where often breed and used to guard temples. Thank you Dayni
  5. Thank you! Thanks for your condolences, and hopefully my irl luck turns around. Far too many people I have cared about have passed these last two year (oddly enough none by the pandemic though...)
  6. This has been a really sad day. My dog died, she was old, older than the high mark of life expectancy for her breed, and her health was failing, but she still had that Chow stubbornness to her all the way to the end, and damned if she didn't keep finding moments to show off her goofy happiness despite the hardships. It feels so inevitable and sudden all at once, and there is this strange regrets on both sides, that I could have spared her the pain that made such piteous sounds if we had taken the writing on the walls earlier, despite her attitude, or on the other that we didn't give her the chance to stubbornly fight on anyway. Its strange that I keep thinking of this song for her, but despite the meaning it just makes me cry anyway.
  7. I am sorry for your loss. Hopefully he managed to live a long and happy life
  8. Have you been keeping up with my Berwick Saga LP? Its been a while since you last commented. Speaking of which, I should go catch up on @Saint Rubenio's LP...
  9. I mean you might play Birthright/Revelations eventually. Although I suspect you will find Birthright boring, and who knows with Revelations, some of the maps are extra bad (NOBODY likes the snowblower or elevator maps), but it trys (and fails) enough things that who knows. I have grown a bit of a soft spot for that questionable little game, as its bad, but a fun and messy kinda bad... Funniest bit about this is, if you ever play Birthright you will learn that his character is basically being an asshole. Yeah, Soleil gets kinda creepy in some of her supports with other women, although I always found her relationship with her father one of the best parent-child relationships in Fates...
  10. Basically, although the ones set in the same universe tend to be numbered sequels as well. Just for reference the ones that have clear connections to each other are: FE7 is a prequel to FE6, FE10 is a direct sequel to FE9, FE5 is a midquel to FE4, and FE3/12 is a direct sequel to FE1/11 and FE2/15 is a side story set on a nearby continent (but does share some minor character) with FE13 set in the same universe but thousands of years after with events spanning both continents. Even then, the only sets I would worry about playing in order are FE5 after FE4, as the opening of FE5 has some spoilers for FE4, and FE10 after FE9, as their stories are a little more closely tied together than the others.
  11. Have you not seen any of Excelblem's content? He is a bit new, but has been pumping out a lot of meme-y short content, including his couple minute recaps of chapters of his slaughter filled SD H5 ironman, like that one there.
  12. Shadow Dragon's problem was in being the worst possible middle ground it could be. If it were more faithful, by not having a Weapon Triangle, and long range ballistas it would have worked better, or if it were faithful and willing to change the map design to make it less lance focused, and account for ballista's new range, it would have been a better experience.
  13. Got to agree full heatedly here, P3 had the best story of the Persona games. Also the best Social Link, in Akinari Kamiki (the Sun/Dying Young Man Social Link), especially if you wait late into the game before finishing it, as it pairs well with the last few months of the story, and the final scene with Akinari's mother is a perfect cap stone to the game. Not to send you down another run through the game, but the Female MC gets some alternate music, that many think are better than the old ones. The battle themes was one that they changed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iy47Q--EbU, although these two are the more notable ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd6MW-XhO5I; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfaPQibemwE I mean I kinda tried with the restrictions I placed on my Awakening LP, but so far being motivated to write about Awakening has been a particularly hard part of the experience... Its a shame Rankin-Bass didn't get the rights to make all the old animated LoTR, and just did The Hobbit and Return of the King...
  14. Welcome back Dragon Flames, hopefully the forest has become more pleasant than you remember it.
  15. For Persona 3? Honestly its debatable, and while I generally prefer P3P, I have enjoyed both versions, and I know that is just a personal preference. P3FES is certainly the best visually, no question there. The combat of P3P was updated to fit with P4 (which is generally seen as an improvement), but also gutted the exhaustion system which takes away from the experience I find (admittedly the system is a bit annoying until you have more than a full party). You might want to look up the patch that lets you control your party members, as many people find that a massive detractor from the P3FES version. P3FES also has The Answer attached to it, a bonus section of the game acting as an epilogue, and fleshes out some details in the story, although P3P instead has the Female MC option, and a little bit of extra challenges and content in the ending.
  16. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can, barring some shenanigans involving getting a refund for the game and using the funds to gift a game to a friend, but that would require you to fulfill the refund requirements (which seems unlikely), and if you can get a refund you might as well use it to buy a game for yourself...
  17. That is unfortunate, but at least the rest of it is playing better (hopefully). I will probably end up grabbing Yakuza 0 on the sale, but it might be a bit before I get around to playing it...
  18. I mean the video is called "Why Majora's Mask is My Favorite Work of Art Ever Made", he clearly was looking at the deeper meaning of the work, and a part of the appeal of Majora's Mask is that it rewards you for looking deeper into it... plus the ultimate conclusion is basically this. The 3DS version isn't necessarily the best version of it, with both having their own advantages.
  19. The ones that did the remakes did not understand the reverence that the world of Majora's Mask had for empty bottles. The Legendary Treasure of the Ikana Royal Family was an empty bottle they took with them to their grave, and in the remake they changed that to a piece of heart, which is the same as a lesser treasure you and Danpe already dug up on another day. Instead they moved it over to a prize Koume and Kotake can give you, making it the second bottle they give you, leading to a dull loss of diversity in rewards for both characters. This bottle change was what he saw as the strongest evidence that the ones that made the remakes didn't understand what made the original game so appealing, and what keeps him from calling it the definitive version...
