  1. You don't need a guide if you know the game. Needing to learn about and get good at a game doesn't make it bad. Congratulations Sooks, sounds like it was a huge accomplishment!
  2. Some rather late replies coming in from me... oof...yeah he has a skill that decrease avoid and crit avoid by 10 to all enemies within 3. You can overcome it if you understand the support mechanics well enough, or use the level 10 support skill that the avatar gets... They bothered to do some actual marketing for it... The chance to nab an early Berserk staff is one of the benefits of going the B route. Thracia is only as bad as they say if you insist on playing blind... Seeing as those mages are holding 2 full warp staff each, if you send someone there that can nab them, 1-2 rescue uses seems a good trade for up to 12 warp uses. Alternatively you could use a warp and rewarp use to accomplish the same thing, and seeing as there are plenty of rewarp staff you can get even on this map if you want them that can easily result in a pure profit of transport staff resources. Don't get me wrong, if you into this map without a plan you will get burnt, but you don't have to play it blind... The Dark Mages don't spawn in that room, that room spawns Snipers and Heroes that the two dark mages there will warp to attack you... That honestly kinda saddens me...
  3. So it was chapter 5,. This next chapter isn't so bad, other than the story blatantly lying to you about the objective, and that it should have been a defend chapter despite what both the gameplay and story say... actually on second though, playing on a high enough difficulty for the boss to have the Vengeance skill makes it obnoxiously luck based... Seeing as I have an Awakening LP that repeatedly goes on hiatus because I get bored with Awakening despite trying to spice it up with a challenge run, I understand entirely...
  4. Looks like I missed the start of your trip trough awakening then...I am going to guess this is chapter 5 or 7... Poor Miriel, if she had lived long enough for you to get access to some class-changing items she could have become a Dark Mage to use the super broken buyable Nosferatu tomes.
  5. Time for me to suggest a brilliant idea (that I 100% stole from @Benice ) and go for Astral Dragon Corrin with skill boon and luck bane, give em Draconic Hex for the first skill, and if enemy only skills are allowed for the bonus add immobilize, if not add Lethality instead for the lulz.
  6. This is the best source of Vesteria Saga information I know of, but it does cutoff after chapter 11, was pre translation, and is super spoilerific...
  7. Sorry for being so late with this. You get a stat booster (+5 health) if you visit that place with Troy first.
  8. This is making me think of FE4 AI, where the normal AI is fairly random and unpredictable, but there are some groups of enemies that get the clever AI representing better leadership, which are more ruthless, but by extension more predictable...
  9. Whew...Berwick Saga really is a doozy to LP through, at least with the level of detail that I like.
  10. I am not entirely certain, as you would have to test the edge cases of when an enemy can't get/benefit from an attack stance with less that 10% chance to hit to determine which of these two is the actual answer (and I can't remember if I have ever seen that event occurs...). The difference between these two threshold conditions is small enough that unless Zolan has been digging around in the code, I doubt he has tested for this distinction either...
  11. I think it works fine. Enemy Phasing is already all about the kind of bookkeeping you talking about, and checking defense and attack is a necessary part of enemy phasing, so no real extra work added. It helps that the game is robust enough that an issue in enemy phasing can generally be fixed with a more player phase focused strategy, as long as you recognize the issue at hand. Plus 1 point of damage is significant in a game like this, where out of combat damage can't kill, which makes 1 health units more of a possibility. Although if I were to complain a bit about the not attacking behavior of the game, it is a little annoying that the game does not consider the +10 to hit attack stance bonus when checking if an enemy is capable of hitting (as enemies will not attack when they believe they have 0% hit as well...). Admittedly this feels more like an oversight than a design choice...
  12. A majority of the Holmes books actually left copyright, so technically the character is in the public domain, and they could have called him that if they wanted, but the Doyle Estate is notorious for filing spurious lawsuits, and legal threats knowing how expensive copyright lawsuits are...
  13. Esteban (hopefully Berwick Saga characters aren't cheating 😛)
  14. Yeah that shining bow is tough to reach if you don't split your army in the beginning, although I managed to grab it once by lunging over the wall to reach it. I guess that is one way to deal with them. I always one round the golems with a lightning mage personally.
  15. What the...THE REUBEN AVATAR SHAVED HIS BEARD???? AND HAS LOST HIS SAINTHOOD?????? What horrors have happened in my absence?
  16. Yes!!!! I am excited about this. Now all of games I was expecting to need a 3ds translation patch to play somehow actually made it to the west. Also random side note, but its fun to see the multiple witnesses mechanics from Professor Layton Vs Pheonix Wright being a part of this game...
  17. Forgot about the ones from the front as well... Yeah, I think they lazily wrote things with all the "dead" characters retreating, too injured to fight... Its actually really easy to deal with that gameover condition, as you can just freeze staff her until the cows come home. Even if you don't put her on ice, its not that hard to catch up to her and kill Nina...in fact seeing as she is an enemy, you HAVE to kill Nina. Although I seem to remember her AI getting a little weird if she has a rally skill, so the freeze staff method is safer.
  18. Alright @Saint Rubenio, you've got everyone curious, now share the link to the channel...
  19. Kinda, the Fates capture mechanic was only really interesting in Conquest, where weird, useful, and difficult to get skill combination came on enemy units. If another FE had a similar sensibility I think I would want it to return, but otherwise I wouldn't bother with it...
  20. From what I remember English is generally taught in High School over there, so its common for Japanese people to understand some English Naw, just the small brain move of linking Three Houses being popular with Three Houses being good. I mean most speedruns are done on versions of games using languages the people playing, and watching don't necessarily understand for technical reasons, so most speedrunner fans must be used to not understanding languages by now 😛
  21. The algorithm knows you like Fire Emblem games, but is too dumb to know which ones...
  22. or with retry attacks... kinda a shame its his only weapon type... That is interesting to note... Why would I give the exp to someone I am not really using when I could give it to someone I am? Plus it was the only enemy Sherlock was in range of at the time, whereas Christine could have used her attack against the mounted archer if Sherlock got the kill. Well that makes me feel less bad for kind of ignoring her. No, its just the first time having the opportunity to use Aim with a Canto unit, and while I remember that you have to give-up her move to use it, I forgot there was a special exception for Canto. I think she might have been using bronze+ arrows for +10 hit... That is a fair point, I probably should have dismounted him while he was guarding... Ugh... I think the most irritating thing about this is that if I moved Christine earlier I could have sated my curiosity about him. Also it would have been nice if the game explained this skill... I would need to look at this knife to better judge, as she had over 20 health, which is the max bonus crit damage, although if it got extra attacks, or something other than embarrassing damage like the rest of the knives you are probably right... After chapter 10... I am tempted to ask about promotion, but I am sure the game will explain how it works in due time. I was not optimistic about that fight, but the first time that knife crit really was dramatic there. Although I suspect this is like the Investigation fight with Maham in the chapter 2 map, where damage carries over if you don't win the fight right there, although I didn't get to confirm that... I guess I luck out with that AI quirk (and it explains one of the priests being a jerk...) ...yeah that sounds unpleasant. The power of favoritism (and the bonus exp from paragon)
  23. To show that I am trailing off with this conclusion before getting bogged down in the details.I could talk about how it compares to other tactical uses of that chapter's DVs, or how reliable this tactic was on the run I did where I never allowed a paired up unit see any enemy attacks, and by extension how its use in such a restricted environment shows how robust the strategy is even in less restrictive environments, but the conclusion itself felt worth saying.
