Yeah, you really can't call Male Corrin unpopular when he placed 29th in CYL7 and placed 3rd (Female Corrin and Azura being 1st and 2nd, respectively) among the cast of Fates.

Meanwhile, here are the CYL7 ranks of those female Legendaries that you mentioned:

    Deirdre: 180th
    Fae: 121st
    Nanna: 281st
    Guinivere: 323rd

Oh, and FE6 Guinivere's highest CYL rank was only 256th in CYL4 (the last one before she got added into FEH). Male Corrin has always placed within the top 100 (CYL2 featured his worst rank at 84th).

Wait, did m!Corrin really rank higher than all the other Fates bros in CYL7? What is his average CYL rank compared to Takumi, Leo, Xander, and Ryoma? I always thought that between the five of them at least, m!Corrin was the least popular.

The problem with Nils specifically is that he's a dragon boy kid and not a dragon girl kid. That, and he's just unpopular compared to Ninian anyways (he got 297th in CYL7 while Ninian got 57th).

All of his best CYL placements (81st, 85th, and 78th in CYLs 2 to 4) occurred before his FEH inclusion. Nils immediately dropped to 327th in CYL5 and he (as his CYL7 rank shows) has only made slight improvement ever since.

    That's absolutely fair. But it guess it's more of a consistency thing at this point, especially since based on story there's really nothing suggesting that Fae and Myrrh are more legendary than Nils. Also, he apparently still scored higher than Guinevere in CYL7 XD;

  2. I'm not gonna lie, I raged pretty hard when I saw her.

Like, I guess I'm not opposed to Camilla existing as a legendary entirely, just because I guess it's likely that all of the Fates siblings are going to make it in at this point. But IS's priorities on who they are and aren't releasing are seriously wack.

And yes, I realize that I'm going to sound like a broken record at this point, but where the actual fuck is male Corrin? I'm not just asking out of principle, I really do want him and I would like to get him if they would put him in the damn game already. I don't care if he's the "unpopular" Corrin. He's just as much the main character as his female counterpart is, and considering how blatantly f!Corrin represented only Nohr, I want a Corrin that represents Hoshido. As in, the path that I actually picked. He should have been in this game a long time ago. "But he's not popular at all --" He's more popular than the likes of Deirdre, Fae and, Nanna and likely other female legendaries who've already made it in. He's probably more popular than Guinevere after her base form was added to the game.

But if not m!Corrin, I would've preferred to get Leo as the next Fates legendary sibling because, like Hinoka, he's the one who becomes king at the end of the route he's not playable in. Leo should've come before Camilla just for that. This one is IS's own fault for having Camilla give the crown to Leo even though she was the next rightful heir, I'm sure IS be kicking themselves over that one.

Plus it's just kind of tiring that the bar for legendaries (and mythic characters) is just lower for female characters than male characters. We haven't seen Sothe or Nils yet, who are basically "canon love interest" and "dragon kid", which apparently make one eligible for legendary status. I would understand if we just had a lot less female characters as legendaries, but at this point it is so lopsided towards the female characters it's not even funny and we still don't have three of the male avatar counterparts.

For people who wanted her, I'm happy for you. But I'm kinda bummed out and I'm not going to pretend like I'm not.

  3. Apparently not sparking on 3H winter was a good decision for me, considering that it gave me more orbs to pull on other banners, and I got Harmonic Ayra and Mercedes from the first DSH banner, winter Marth on his rerun, and Duo Kagero and Orochi and Butler Sigurd on the new DSH.

  4. As someone who never really liked 3H all that much anyway but has a soft spot for Ferdinand and Mercedes, I was disappointed that Tea Ferdinand and backpack Mercedes were stuck with their Academy alts (which I personally think looks the least good) instead of either timeskip or 3Hopes. It's almost like what is the point of these characters having three distinct appearances when Heroes adamantly refuses to use them? (Also, they really should utilize on RD Mist, who is one of the few Tellius characters who looks vastly different between games.)

@XenomataI feel like 3H's staying power comes from a few things:
    1) The avatar, because of-fucking-course it does
    2) 3H has a more serious and grounded tone than Awakening, Fates, and Engage. That fools some people into thinking it's vastly different than the other "newer games" and "superior" for being "more seriously"
    3) On the surface, the story is less crappy than Fates and Engage. Of course, I personally think it all falls apart if you look at it more deeply, but that's my opinion and neither here nor there.

Basically, it had a lot of elements that gave it staying power and was released at the perfect time in Heroes' run, where we were getting into POWERCREEP HELL so all 5-star 3H units were crazy good for when they were released. SoV didn't have that because year 1-2 units were relatively tame, even the 5-stars, and for whatever reason Heroes refuses to capitalize on Engage and the game itself got slammed for being too goofy compared to 3H.

Hi y'all! I remembered nows about the time the Christmas banner comes out and I wanted to see who would be on-
    ...
...yep, this is why I quit this panderous game in the first place.

Seriously, this shit is still going on? Is nobody else complaining? I see some people on here who aren't happy, but are they the minority? I'd hate to say it, but the Fire Emblem Heroes I played since launch is dead, all I see here is a walking shell being puppeted by a puppeteer whose face is just the Crest of Flames...

There's a reason I decided not to spark on this banner even though I usually spark on the Christmas banners.

  6. Freyr is tanky as fuck. Not gonna lie, the thought of doing abyssal scared the shit out of me, but I eventually ended up doing it.

Ended up beating it with Brave Seliph, Legendary Deirdre, Soiree Reinhardt, and Legendary Leif. Thankfully, my successful attempt had Freyr chase Leif to the right side of the map, which gave me some breathing room to get rid of everything else. And even after he was the only enemy left on the map he was still way too tank.

  7. So it's been like 4 years since anyone's last tried to run a game

Naturally, this is a good time to see whether SF mafia is finally dead or if anyone on this forum is still insane enough to play a game. Let's go!

Will give this until the end of the year to fill. And if it fails, SF mafia truly is dead.

BREAKING THESE RULES WILL UNDOUBTEDLY GET YOU MODKILLED:

    1. This is a NOC game. You may only talk outside the thread if your role PM allows it.

    2. You may not post your role PM in-thread or quote host interactions. You may not post screenshots.

    3. If you sign up, try to exist at least once a phase.

    4. If you tactically modkill yourself to give your side an advantage, I will make sure that your alignment is worse off than before. If you are modkilled you cannot win. Just don't get modkilled.

    5. Don't edit your posts. I probably won't modkill you for this unless you do it more than once.
5a. If you edit game-relevant content, I will modkill you.

    6. Do not post during the night phase. I probably won't modkill you for this unless you're purposely ignoring this rule after being warned.

    Mechanics

    1. Death is definitely the end. Information may not be passed from dead players to living players. You may continue to post in-thread after your demise, but posts must be info-free and you may not spam the thread or distract from the game with deadtalk.

    2. There are no items, and priorities have been decided beforehand.

    3. Day Phase is 72 hours. Night Phase is 24 hours. Phases may or may not end early. If you intend to idle, please say so in your role PM. If you have not submitted an action by deadline, I will assume that you are idling.
3a. Day Phase will be shortened to 48 hours when half the players are left.

    4. You need a hammer to lynch. Hammer is 50%+1 rounded down.
4a. You do not need a hammer to lynch on D1. The player with the most votes will be lynched on D1.
4b. You may choose to "no lynch" as many times as you want.
4c. Failure to consolidate on a lynch (or lack thereof) twice will result in universal loss.

    5. Actions will be made in the standard ##Action: Player format.

    6. This game starts on D1.

    7. There are no hidden players.

    8. Do not abuse loopholes.

    9. Inspection results are guaranteed to be accurate.

    10. You may not self-target.

  8. Y'know, I was wondering whether I should consider sparking once on this banner despite my frustration with the lineup because they're all busted units with good skill fodder ... but after thinking on it more I just can't be arsed to care with this level of powersprint. Like ... what's stopping them from being powercrept in the next 2-3 banners?

At this point, it truly feels like it's only worth pulling if you actually like the character or if you absolutely must have a particular skill to put on a character you like.

  9. Remember the days when beating Freyja and Triandra's BHB was difficult even when you had a full roster to choose from?

Using Brave Chrom, Brave Robin, Legendary m!Robin, and the new Rearmed Lucina, I beat it on my first try ...

This powersprint is out of control

Nah it's worse than that, we don't get any Valentia seasonals period at this point. 2022 had only 5 Valentia seasonals and this year has.......none at all.

Even without this banner, Three Houses / Hopes has gotten 11 seasonals in just this year.

Note: I am counting TT units (aka Hatari Deen, Spring Luthier and Summer M!Shez) in those numbers.

Marth and Seliph in particular haven't gotten any more alts since their respective CYL ones. Keep in mind, Marth's CYL alt released in 2021.

Wow, that is just horrendous. And unless I'm mistaken, Thracia didn't get a seasonal this year aside from Sara being a backpack, right? (That was this year, right?)

It's also confusing why they're not capitalizing more on Engage at this point. 3H isn't the newest shiny thing anymore. Yes, I see Yunaka there, and she's still the only Engage unit. You'd think they'd try to get Fogado and Hortensia out, like how Timerra and Ivy got in as seasonal units before their base selves.

  11. Okay, so I actually watched the damn trailer. And, uh, this is basically what I see:

    >there's no demote lol
    >already OP characters with already powerful prf skills get EVEN MORE POWERCREEP PRF SKILLS
    >fucking 3H leaders again, didn't we already do this last summer?
    >unless I missed it somewhere, this might be the first winter banner in several years where non-Pass users can't spark
    >FUCKING DIVINE VEIN TERRAIN EFFECTS AND %DR EVERYWHERE

Like, even ignoring the character choice here the decisions made for this banner are just plain ass.

  12. You know, even considering that the three house leaders and f!Byleth are CYL winners at this point, it hardly justifies them getting this many alts. Especially Claude and f!Byleth getting two in one year.

It's not like we get alts for Ike or Roy every year despite them being male year 1 leaders. Nor are we getting Alm or Celica.

  13. If I had to choose between the game sucking Alfonse's dick or the summoner's dick, I'd rather go with Alfonse. Especially since the last book was basically just a bunch of female OCs sucking the summoner's dick anyway.

Alfonse is the best OC in Heroes anyway. And yes, that's partly because they won't let anyone else (except Veronica) have character development in the first place, but it's still IS's own damn fault for saturating the story with so many OCs in the first place instead of putting in only the ones that are necessary and developing them better.

  14. 1 minute ago, Tybrosion said:

Lapis also got inexplicably left off of the banner upon her debut, and IS didn't even have the decency to offer her for free.

Yeah, that was also a very questionable move by IS. Even if Engage is new, wasn't Lapis decently popular? They would've been better off putting Amber in that spot since Lapis could carry a banner and Amber is Amber. If the demote had to be female, Jade would've been a good option too. Since she's inexplicably less popular than the other Brodian ladies and it'd be nice to get more easily accessible armors who aren't GHBs.

  15. >Inigo got kicked out of the banner to make room for the new OC

    Uhhhhhhhhh

I'm trying not to complain about the OCs because I have nothing positive to say about them, but this is just horrendously offensive. They kicked off Inigo. INIGO. Y'know, the guy who's actually popular. Robbed him of a prf and skills given to 5-star units, which he would've certainly gotten if it wasn't for the OC stealing his spot. Ugh.

This is legit confusing. I can understand kicking off someone like Tanya or Ross and giving them demote kits because they probably had lower demand and were less likely to get the good stuff even if they were on a banner. But seriously, man. I'm actually annoyed about this because if it weren't for the OC, Inigo had a good chance for preferential treatment.

    7 minutes ago, Tybrosion said:

He's the 4* for the banner while Inigo (as a Sword Infantry) is a quest reward.

However, Laurent is a Prf-les colorless tome unit (only the second one, with Niime being the first). So, "enjoy" having very limited tome options (just Vulture or Deer, the latter is what he starts with) for him.

I expected a future children's Awakening banner would add Lucina alt, Noire, Severa, and Inigo while leaving Laurent off completely, so I'm actually okay with this I guess. Having him in with bad tome choices is still better than him not being in it at all.

And that's precisely something someone who has no experience with video games but criticizes them anyway might say.

I think I've said all I've had to say on the matter so I don't have any express inclination to bring it to pms. If you want to make a dedicated thread though I might weigh in if there's any other angle I see.

Dude, enough. You have zero knowledge or context of my experience with romance as a genre and in fiction, and you're kind of being an ass at this point. I don't care if other people like romance or disagree with me. Doesn't affect my life in any way whatsoever. But what you're doing is telling me that my experiences are invalid because you, with your nonexistent knowledge of anything related to me personally, have deemed that I don't have "enough experience" with romance as a genre to have an educated opinion on it. You're free to disagree with me, but you're not so much disagreeing as you are implying that I am stupid and wrong to have my own thoughts on something because you don't think I know anything about it when you don't know me enough to make that call.

Making personal attacks over something this trivial because you want to win an argument on the Internet is a surefire way for me to lose any respect for you that I ever had.

  17. 1 hour ago, Jotari said:

It's very easy to judge a genre you have no experience with.

Dude, just because I don't read romance doesn't mean I have absolutely no experience with it. I watch people doing book reviews of various romance books and authors. I've also watched reviews of romance movies and have likely watched some personally. I think the vast majority of the genre is Not Good and I have heard of some people getting bad ideas of romance because of novels and movies, and it's not like this is coming out of nothing out of my own biases. I've solid, if limited, reasons to believe this. And didn't I ask you to PM me if you wanted to continue this topic because it's not FE-related? ;/

  18. 4 minutes ago, Jotari said:

Hey, just because we don't like it doesn't make it crap. The reality is that the market is saturated with Romance novels. It's just so far from the ven diagram covering Fire Emblem and video games in general that we're unlikely to see any overlap between officially released stuff or fan interest.

No, like, I legitimately think it's crap. Not because I dislike the genre but because I think it's full of bad messages and examples, especially for impressionable young people who may be voyaging into their first romance. There are way too many stories romanticizing abusive men, portraying awful female leads as the "everygirl" we're supposed to project ourselves onto, discarding friends and family because they're not your lover, or some combination of a bunch of awful things. And even the ones that aren't outright awful still tend to demonstrate dubious behavior as romantic when it's really not. For example, the only romance book I ever read seriously still had some hints of the male lead manipulating the female lead with his innate magical powers at a point when they weren't actually in a relationship. And there are just some very icky elements about it that are portrayed as romantic when some of this is problematic IRL.

The issue comes when people don't recognize these red flag behaviors as something you should run away from IRL, because they think that because it was in this book where it was portrayed as romantic, it's fine. And there are more people like that than we'd think.

  19. 2 minutes ago, Jotari said:

40-60 year old women know how to write romance. And the only people that actually like Romance are also 40-60 year old women.

Lol, I gotta hard disagree with you there Jotari.

Romance in general is a pretty crap genre. But it's also not really FE related so I probably won't elaborate here (although if you want to PM me about it, feel free).

But yeah, Julius/Ishtar is by no means a healthy pairing. It's also kind of the point of their relationship. I only wish that the timeline of certain events wasn't so weird, because it feels like the characters' intended ages sometimes are in contradiction to the timeskip.
