  1. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the whole point of this game is fanservice. Why are some acting surprised that people might have been interested for the sole reason that their favourite characters might have made an appearance?

Like isn't this game basically "control your favourite FE characters in fully 3D battles"? So why is it a bad thing if someone was more interested in playing Hector rather than "the Musou gameplay"?

  2. One thing that bugs me is how the 3DS defense force always seem to deny or downplay the importance and popularity of older games and characters.

"Ike is only popular because of Smash" "Lyn probably only placed high on the poll because people were salty about Lucina"

I think it's been proven that these and other characters and the games they come from are actually still beloved, and not just by older fans, also by new fans who then got curious as to the rest of the series and played their games years later.

Coming in with this attitude that "you should just accept it because your favourite game is no longer relevant and didn't sell as well as the new games" is honestly just as toxic to the community as people who go around attacking "casuals" and people who like the 3ds titles.

A spin-off that incorporates a variety of games and characters from the series would be a nice start to get people to stop attacking each other based on when they started playing FE, instead of always rehashing the same casts. Heroes was a success in this respect. It's a shame Warriors is marking this line again.

I was editing the post to be less jerk sounding.

There is a difference between disappointment and "this game sucks now".

I'd wager a few people in here have never played a musou title other than Hyrule Warriors.

Careful, this could be taken as a bit of an elitist comment. "You're not a true Musou fan so this game wasn't for you anyway".

  4. Wooow, my hype for this just went completely into the gutter.

We've waited years for spinoffs like this and none of the classic characters are even considered. It seriously sucks that characters like Validar and Peri have a better shot than Arvis or Ephraim.

I'm not paying extra just to be able to download Ike or Lyn. So I won't buy this game until I find a used copy or it goes in the discount bin. Fuck this pandering.

  5. I'm still early in the game, act 2 to be specific, but so far I feel the writing is some of the best in FE. The characters are all interesting and feel like there's more depth to them than in any game before (the voice acting helps too), and the villains are so much better than Awakening and Fates it's ridiculous. The story is not so complicated, but it's executed really well. I had seen a LP of Gaiden and to say the story was bare bones doesn't quite get across how lacking it was. It's impressive how much was added while still keeping true to what was originally there, and it shows that the team at IS can still put out quality plots and casts.

The gameplay is fun as well. I didn't know how it would feel to play this game since it's so different from the others, but the quirks make it stand out.

This game does so much right that it makes me really excited for the next original game.

  6. Elibe remakes would benefit from having stronger/more explicit connections between related characters and more mentions/cameos in the FE6 remake and more setting up in the FE7 remake. While I like the original FE6 it's got some maps that are pretty annoying (see: desert map with fog of war and wyverns) so it'd be nice to fix those in a remake. Plus Roy and Lyn would make them an easy sell.

I think a lot of older fans want Judgral (myself included) but I'm not so sure about new fans. Heroes is probably to helping get people interested though. And FE4 has the love system going for it.

  7. Most optimistic is probably Roy. He faces a ton of difficult situations but always keeps a cool head, and doesn't let his experiences in war change his positive view of the world. You could even argue he's too optimistic/naive.

Most pessimistic I would say is Corrin. Always whining about how hard the war is for him and how much invading innocent countries makes him suffer because the people he's oppressing don't understand him.

  8. I'm at the Deliverance hideout in act 1. This game is amazing! What a breath of fresh air it is having a game actually care about world-building and having multidimensional characters after two subpar entries in that respect. I'm really impressed at how much they improved on Gaiden, going by what I remember of an LP I saw a while back. So far I've enjoyed getting to know all the characters, even ones I was meh about  (Tobin and Silque)... well, except Faye. Stand outs are probably Alm, Mycen, Gray, Lukas, and Clair.

Gameplay wise I love the mini-exploration more than I thought since I was disappointed towns weren't fully traversable. It does wonders for the world and characters to learn information this way. The dungeons have been a nice change too so far. And I haven't been too bothered by the maps although they do feel a lot emptier than I'm used to. It took me a bit to get used to the new systems/interface and already had to use Mila's Turnwheel to revive Silque after she got axe'd by brigands. I went with canon promotions and made Faye a Cleric, but I'm interested in switching it up in future playthroughs.

And the art is beautiful. Cannot stress enough how much I like the character designs.

  9. Something based on ancient Egypt, Aztecs, or Vikings/Norse mythology would be cool.

I hope they really emphasize different cultures/countries through classes. It's a lot more interesting when for example you have the nomads specifically from Sacae or totally different classes per country like in Fates, rather than having every country share the same basic "medieval Europe" class tree.

  10. Alm, Gray, Saber, Boey, Lukas.

    Celica, Clair, Mathilda, Tatiana, Sonya.

Based mostly on designs and the very little I know of them, except for Alm and Celica who I've seen more of (but still not a lot).

The lords both seem like a breath of fresh air. It's nice to see Celica be such a driven character, while Alm gives me the impression of being another Ike in the sense that he's not a very typical main lord. Excited to see them play off each other.

  11. I have two questions:

    1. What's best for Ike's C skill? I was checking what I've got and decided Fortify Defense or Spur Attack would be good. Which is the better option, or is there something better?

    2. Whilst looking at my units I noticed I have two Tikis with different backgrounds. Is there something special about the blue one? Pic below. Doh, just realized this means it's a merged unit.

  12. I want:

Crimean Guard: Elincia (red sword), Geoffrey (blue lance), Lucia (red sword), Haar (green axe), Astrid (grey bow)

Greil Mercs part 2: Oscar (blue lance), Boyd (green axe), Rolf (grey bow), Mia (red sword), Nephenee  (blue lance)

Laguz royals: Caineghis (red claw), Tibarn (green talon), Naesala (blue beak), Nailah (grey claw), Reyson (grey galdr), Kurthnaga (blue breath)

Dawn Brigade: Micaiah (blue tome), Sothe (grey dagger), Nolan (green axe), Edward (red sword), Jill (blue lance)

Magvel royals: Joshua (red sword), Innes (grey bow), Tana (blue lance), L'Arachel (green tome), Myrrh (green breath)

Elibean heroes: Athos (red tome), Guinevere (green tome), Nils (blue breath), Rath (grey bow), Heath (blue lance)

Plus some Jugdral banners (not familiar with all characters but Lewyn should be in one) and a bunch of villains.

  13. Figures the first GHB I have no trouble with is for a character I dislike.

Cleared it with Tsubaki, Lucina, Lilina, and Ninian.

Rolled my eyes at Xander's recruitment quote. "I hope you mete out justice", here I thought justice was an illusion.

But I feel like with how often I see the gay joke for these two, it IS kind of being forced on people...

I mean, it's not just a joke all the time. I wouldn't call myself a shipper but I always just took Ike and Soren to be pretty close to canon considering it would be impossible for a Nintendo game in the 2000s to outright say "these two men are a couple". I'll make a comment or joke about it now and then, doesn't mean I want everyone to ship them. Could be the case for others, as well.

It's like if someone made a joke about Eliwood and Ninian, it would be silly for someone else to get mad because it's not technically canon and they like Eliwood and Lyn better.

Basically, I know you're big on shipping but you shouldn't get so invested in what other people say that goes against your preferences. It's just a headache that I'm sure you would rather avoid. Live and let live and such.

  15. This started off pretty alarming. I had spent about 60 orbs and only gotten lame repeats, plus two Hinatas (I didn't have him yet and I like him, but he's no Ike). Then I got Eirika, who I was also missing, though only at 4*.

I was starting to sweat, and then...

Ike! AND Soren! And then Camilla, two Ninos, and a repeat Kagero!

I kept trying a bit for Titania but alas... she will have to wait.

Super pumped with the results in the end!
