I could wag my dick around saying "Oh I beat (insert any good player's name here) over WiFi" but there's a really high chance that I won not because I'm more skilled (trust me, that will never be the case for me) but because I coped with the lag better than my enemy.

Hardly any combos require wavedashing, and approaching can be done just fine without it. Most characters only need it for mindgames, and I use the word "need" very loosely. Wavedashing doesn't help Ganondorf at all, you've just gotta wait for them to come to you and punish them for being not-ganon. Nope, he stays in the air usually. And you can't stay in the air whilst sliding on the ground.

In 64, I pick Captain Falcon, and my favorite type of character is the kind that is Captain Falcon, but I'll settle for Fox or Ness if I'm not in a Captain Falcon mood. In Melee, I have a lot of variation. I prefer characters with projectiles, but when it boils down to it my main focus is combos. Young Link and Pichu are really the only characters I care about that aren't Top, High, or Middle Tier. In Brawl, I focus on playing low tier. Not so I can prove that a specific low tier character has strengths that nobody notices or that the specific character doesn't have the weaknesses everyone thinks he/she has, but so that I have an excuse when I lose. I also like Toon Link, Peach, and ICs, because I seem to lose less when I play them.

The length of Pichu's foot seldom matters, especially with Link since he should be focused on his air-game more. And I've seen quite a few IC players that are decent without wavedashing

There's three possible reasons that could be happening: 1) your controller sucks 2) you're not pushing the control stick far enough to the side or 3) you're pushing the control stick too slowly. Think of rolling as a Smash Attack and Sheild-tilting as a Tilt attack, except instead of A you're using L/R and instead of attacking you're guarding.

Ike isn't hard to use. Just learn to short-hop, then spam his nair (and occasionally his fair) when you're going forwards and bair when you're going backwards. When you land hit 'em with your AAA, your ftilt, or your utilt. Once your enemy is at 50 damage or so, get 'em off the ledge and guard like there's no tomorrow. Also, his fsmash is like a OHKO. And there's no such thing as competitive FFA battling, the only reasonable tier list that isn't based off 1v1 would be a teams tier list, but considering there are almost 800 possible team combinations, it's unrealistic, and making it character by character would be stupid as well because you're not looking for just one thing in a team: You want one character to be a heavy damager + stock tank (like Kirby, Pit, MetaKnight, ROB, etc.) and the other to be good at landing killing moves or good at low-damage kills (like DK, Snake, MetaKnight, Marth, Ike, etc.), but the stock tank could be your killer instead of your damager if need-be, meaning that there's no way to really configure a teams tier list.
