  1. Make sure you know why you're getting what you get- an NA copy of Hoshido will only give you the localized script for Hoshido, and won't help with patching IK at all.
  2. First off, flat-out copying the NA script runs into copyright issues, and second it doesn't help people with NA games who want Amie back, so that doesn't work.
  3. Those guys have only 74 Atk, between ~40 class base, 20 LB/Rally and ~10 from tonic/pairup/mods, most magical pairs are looking at sub-10 damage from them. They look intimidating, but are almost completely harmless when minmaxed. I really don't think the children are underpowered as-is, do they really need Veteran on top of their already high growths? A better rework of Rescue might just be to massively readjust the amounts and locations of money in the game. In Plegia, you're completely broke, but Rescue's buyability at the start of Valm corresponds to you having more money than you know what to do with. You could also just raise its weapon rank, E is a little low for what it does. Avo in Lunatic isn't broken because of Pairup, dodge rates are exactly where you'd want them to be lategame. The reason they utterly tank mid-Plegia is because Lunatic rushes out weapon "upgrades" as fast as it can, and doesn't give enemies any extra Skl to compensate for those 65-Hit Axes they're toting. All Pairup gives is +10 Avo, that's not going to turn 0 listed into 30-70 where it belongs. Giving unpromoted enemies much higher Skl would be a fix, so would delaying the weapon upgrades in favor of forged Iron/Steel (and progressing from there to forged Silver later on). Though as-is I do like Cht.8-13 being a break from the difficulty so you can train up a team to meat Valm once things get going again- earlygame needs to be nerfed considerably for removing this break to be viable.
  4. The tutorial linked in the OP is both in a fairly unobvious location (why isn't it at the very top? It's what everyone wants to know) and very outdated- while it mentions the possibility of using hans + homebrew, all the instructions given are for CFWs. If you want people to do their own research, fine, but at least point them in the right direction (eg: "google 'hans homebrew'"). As a quick rundown of what you need to do... 1. Install Homebrew on your 3ds using your preferred exploit. A list of exploits and the materials needed to use them can be found here. 2. Dump your physical copy of the game with Braindump, which comes with the standard homebrew kit. Any JP copy works, and once the delocalization patcher is ready any copy period will work. 3. Obtain xorpads for your game. I'm unsure what the team's officially recommended way to do this above 9.3 is. 4. Run your dumped game and the xorpads through the patcher. 5. Put the patched .romfs in the homebrew hans folder on your SD card, then open homebrew on your 3ds and launch the game using hans. If you have the content completely decrypted, try using something like EveryFileExplorer? No clue. Remember, the DLC patching isn't officially supported. You need to be able to install Homebrew on your 3ds. That's possible on the latest firmware, though it is slightly easier on 10.3 and below. If you're on 9.2, stay there and just use emunand and CFWs to ensure whatever exploit you're using doesn't get patched in the future. I wouldn't count on saves being compatible across different versions (JP, NA, EU), so if you're already playing on a certain edition plan on staying there.
  5. Fact: Dread Fighter has the lowest Mag in the game of any Tome-using class. It's quite unfortunate and a big thing holding them back. 42 Str isn't exactly on the low end of the spectrum either, but Awakening's Str distributions are also incredibly lopsided- there are two below 38 (Trickster and DF, the latter of which everyone uses Tomes with) and 6 above 42 (GL, Wyvern, Warrior, GK, General, Berserker). All but GL are at least 46, and two of them are 50. 8 Str is a big deal. I wish it was more even. All it would take for DFs to be really useful is one stat they were good in. Just one! Even 42 Mag would do, and that's on par with Dark Flier, aka nothing special. As-is they're just worse Heroes with Tomes and a tiny bit of +Mag.
  6. Yeah, it would be nice if Bond worked like all the other auras and affected everyone, regardless of pairup location. As-is it feels legitimately broken, and I mean that in the doesn't-do-what-it's-intended-to sense. If anything, Dread Fighter forces most males into support roles due to Agg dealing double damage there, while females are predominantly leads due to having a better Galeforce distribution, better mod spreads in general, and more room in their skillsets for procs and stuff. Awakening is very gender-biased, and it's towards the girls.
  7. Everyone keeps saying this without elaboration. What exactly made the GBA port and DS bad?
  8. You should be able to transfer your saves using Homebrew. The Support Gallery will be messed up by applying the patch, but not permanently (any support you've seen before will appear in JP there until you see it again normally, then fix itself).
  9. Does it hang immediately or after dumping for a while? And have you tried just letting it sit for a while? If it only does it after a while, check and make sure there's enough space on your SD card. You'll need more than a gigabyte. Either way, I'm fairly sure you need a physical copy of the game to use the patch... Suit yourself.
  10. When I said usually, I mean they're barred by Japanese law from doing it. Even if it's a case where that isn't in play (as in, they simply made a limited stock, but didn't explicitly call it a Special Edition), look how long it took certain Amiibo and the Sm4sh GCN adapter to have rereleases. Some of them still haven't happened, and it's been over a year already.
  11. Nintendo usually doesn't restock things labeled as "special edition", so don't count on it.
  12. Honestly, I think reinforcements can screw an improperly prepared player even being next turn. A Falco appears behind you, close enough that your healers can't all flee but far enough that you can't reach it with fighters? Splat. That would be something you could prepare for without the prescience offered by reinforcement guides by leaving a rear guard, keeping mobility options laying around, etc. Same-turn reinforcements are impossible to counter without enemy data, and very difficult to without reinforcement location/timing data, but with all that they're just standard enemies.
  13. It's not. I just really dislike it when people remind me FE14 exists by talking about it. PM me if you want to talk more about this, since it's pretty off-topic.
  14. Hoard them all. At least 50 of them. Then your Streetpass team can have maximum coolness. I typically hang onto the one from Renown, though. The Gradivus is nice, but things beyond that tend to be a little too powerful, even for Lunatic+.
  15. Right, forgot about him. But my point more or less stands.
  16. This is the Awakening section, why are people talking about FE14? You're not making it easy for those of us who would prefer to avoid ti until release, please stop. Aesthetically, I think Brides look great. Compared to the sprite-based games, I feel like Awakening's animations are much more "realistic" and boring, and Bride's flips and twirls (DF's high jump too) are exactly what I wanted. The glowing rune on the back looks nice too. I'm a little perplexed as to why Nowi of all units got custom Bride animations and everyone else's are the same, though. Hers are even cooler, it would be nice if more units had them. Gameplay-wise, they're a little odd- I really wish there was a male version. No opinion on Eirika. Awakening changed/went against canon on much bigger things than her.
  17. Yeah the Spotpass units are all really OP (and aren't affected by Permadeath), typically they're banned in challenge runs because having them always makes the game easier. They can't support, but you also have an endless supply of them. And if you can grind on them... Adding to that, Travant and Ashnard have excellent starting classes and skillsets (Lv.15+ Wyverns with Renewal) and have a high price/performance rate. Zephiel is also notable for having Conquest, but since Hard lacks hackforged Beastkillers that's not very useful.
  18. I'm not super knowledgeable either, but what I see most people do is just include a Credits section in their OP stating everything they got from anyone else. You'd definitely want to apply the patch to the rom you're working with instead of having others go get it on their own, though. Doing the latter method means there are more links that break and must be fixed, more work the end user must do to maintain your patch, and more places in general for things to go wrong. It probably wouldn't even work in the first place if you tried applying it to a rom that was already modified enough.
  19. EU didn't have Tharja's Summer Scramble CG censored while NA did, but NA didn't have Tharja and Nowi's Harvest Scramble convo censored while EU did. To people concerned about censorship, that is a very big difference.
  20. The game is balanced around pairup, so while you could certainly nerf it (reduce class boosts? Lower support growths? Lower DS%?), it would usually wind up breaking a lot of other stuff you'd then need to go fix.
  21. In hindsight, this is definitely true, though her death is only mentioned in a Spotpass Paralogue (I forget if those are post-production or not, I don't think so but could be wrong) so it might just be there as an "official" reason since it wouldn't make much sense otherwise. A few other reasons why she likely wouldn't have a child: story wise, in Lucina's future Valm's invasion was delayed significantly by Yen'fay (with a longer Plegia war taking its place), so any potential Say'ri child would be much, much younger than the rest, also from a gameplay perspective Say'ri is recruited very late, making it hard to get/put to use any child of hers. But who knows, it could have been intended at one point. There are a handful of unused character names (Tracy, Andrea, Leopold) buried in Awakening's data, after all.
  22. If enemies were capable of strategizing properly with the intent of making the player reset, they'd just bunch up, stay right on the edge of your range and refuse to allow you to engage without needing to subject a unit to the wrath of 10+ attacks. Dunno about you, but dealing with that doesn't sound like my idea of fun.
  23. There isn't one, and I don't advise doing it. But some people want to anyway, and it's not my place to say what you can and can't do. Probably. They'll not only be significantly weaker, though, but weaken your team as a whole- the concept of using 10 identical units is because if they're identical, they all have the same threat levels, which means there's no "greatest threat" for the player to prioritize. Should you use 5 stronger males and 5 weaker females, the males will be higher priority targets and go down first, so any failed kills will be on females, aka your weakest units. Streetpass teams really are as weak as their weakest member. Miracle typically doesn't do much, though.
