  1. Arthur has a mount, can advance further on the map within the course of a turn, and can be controlled by the player as early as Ch6.
  2. All mon lines: There's 72 of them. Having exactly 12 drafters would give everyone a team of 6 to work with, though that would give them the option to drop their worst mon for their starter I guess.
  3. The first priority is having fun. Second is getting practical evidence of how good/bad a Pokémon is in-game without having to rely on theorymon, and thereby improving the accuracy of the in-game tier list. Sadly, without BW's re-usable TMs, that will be very reliant on how resources are distributed.
  4. That list blows tier-wise though, but at least it's a start. Exclusives can be found here, I guess. http://serebii.net/red_green/exclusives.shtml @Red Fox That's almost the same thing to me. They curved the EXP formula and added possibilities to increase the amount of active fighters on your team. My point remains the same: it'll be harder for mid- and late caught Pokémon to catch up in games that are not B/W.
  5. I think I'll bite again. The main reason I haven't started any other drafts myself is because B/W encourages large teams more than any other game, making it easy to play catch-up with freshly caught Pokémon with the use of Audino and Lucky Egg. So I'm not expecting this to be as much fun. Someone please compile a list of Pokémon lines that can be caught pre-Elite Four!
  6. I have to wonder whether Celice's early pony is really worth him swallowing nearly an entire chapter's worth of EXP. There were several times when Sigurd would have reached the gate at the same time you ended up seizing it even if he had Ardan-level movement. Add the arena, and that Ch10 and the Final chapter have quite a few enemies that Celice is tailor-made to kill, and he will probably end up level capping while he's still used in combat. Only time will tell, I suppose, and as you said you can always revert to your old save. I definitely enjoyed this video though. Celice ORKOing at range with Thunder Sword is pretty hilarious.
  7. Dieck averages 17.7 at 20/5, so what you have is what you should generally get without wings. :P He still doubles almost everything though, especially if you're playing Normal Mode. He'll miss out on fast swordies and that kind of thing, though.
  8. Dieck only has a 30% Speed growth, but his base is very good. Contrary to popular belief, that means he's one of the least likely people to get "speed screwed".
  9. I laughed at "Why are you talking to me? You have to kill him! It's part of the plan! Didn't Alvis tell you?". Everyone but Ardan hitting 30 was pretty amusing as well. Just wondering, are you aware of the Fury poking trick on Reptor's army? I thought you were going to do it when I saw Fury head towards his army along with Sigurd after picking off some Meteor mages, but then she went south as if she didn't have wings at all. :( All you have to do is attack one guy (can be a Sniper or something) and Reptor's army starts moving. I don't know if it would've helped anything at all and it won't be the difference between making or not making AAAA since you pretty much capped EXP while tactics is lenient, but it might have been more prudent. Well, you probably couldn't have done the roundabout trick with Sigurd, but it's not like he was in any hurry to get to the castle. He even walked back to provide leadership.
  10. yeah seriously also [spoiler=huge]
  11. He said below Thany though, not below Ashtol.
  12. Aideen x Jamka is silly. It's not *that* hard to make, even for beginner players.
  13. @above Moving after attacking does not just mean retreating. I don't remember using Celice or Sigurd's horse to retreat, I use it so I can kill a closeby enemy and still advance further in battle. Anyway, on an efficient run Arthur has no trouble whatsoever promoting before Sety joins. He's easily the best unit you have once promoted, so it makes sense to pump as much EXP into him as you can. Between the arena, enemies that are close to your castles and some Elite Ringing, he should be able to get to 20 reasonably early. Even if he can't, he would only be trailing slightly behind Celice anyway, who also needs to promote before he has 9 mov. At the very latest, Arthur promotes at the start of Ch9, which is one short castle trail after Sety joins. Arthur does well versus Johalva's army and the bandits in Ch6, can contribute to killing Dark Mages in Ch7 as well as (slightly carefully) solo'ing Melgen (since Celice is a lot behind on this one due to Yied), and can either focus his efforts towards going for Ovo's army, Ishtar, and the Mage trio in Ch8, or Muhammed's army in the forests close to your castle. Even if you disagree with all of the above, there's no denying that Azel/Tiltyu + Levin/Fury gives you worse overall units than Levin/Tiltyu + Claude/Fury (or Noish/Fury). With the former, you get an acceptable-at-best Arthur and bad Tinny. They both have Pursuit and alright offense (especially with Wrath), but their durability remains kind of a disaster and their move will remain 5 for pretty long. Fee is good as she always is...her Str is kind of troublesome but her skills are good enough and she has B in swords and lances, so meh. Sety is great, sure. Though he only has 6 mov to start with unless you give him Leg Ring. With the latter, you get an amazing Arthur, and a worse Tinny. Tinny is practically worthless no matter what you do and just has no place in any kind of run barring ranked or something casual where you use everyone, so this isn't much of an improvement. Arthur goes from acceptable-at-best to like, MVP. Meanwhile, you can use Claude to just get your basic ORKOing Sage out of Sety. He's no longer completely invincible and he can't go toe to toe with like, Ishtar or anything (though he can Silence her), but against most generics, he'll still ORKO with ease. Fee's Str still suffers, but again there's those weapon ranks, and she gets B staves after promo. Or you can go Noish, and you'll have a really strong Fee, paired with a Sety that can still 2HKO Ch9 Dracoknights with Lightning (yes, even with his gimped Mag), and has Pursuit/Continue/Critical/Charge for things he doesn't just 2HKO. And he can still staffbot. So Sety and Fee remain very useful no matter what you do, while Tinny remains useless no matter what you do, but Arthur becomes a lot better. So overall, you're better off with Levin/Tiltyu than Levin/Fury. edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention. Arthur's lack of Pursuit can also be compensated by having him at half HP or less thanks to Wrath. If you're not getting hit anyway, it really doesn't matter what HP he's at. This also allows him to KO random powerful bosses before they can counter, like Ishtar.
  14. Arthur doesn't need the Pursuit Ring to ORKO. At base with a Magic Ring, he can OHKO a thing or two. And he has enormous Continue/Critical rates. Like, 55% Continue and 20-30% Critical depending on what stage in life. You can throw him into an army of enemies, and most of them will die. The few that are leftover can be picked off by scrubs.
  15. Those are pretty basic and easy and will carry you through the game. Alternatively, you can pair Levin with Tiltyu, and Fury with Noish or Claude.
  16. Sorry but this is like if I went and made a hack, saying Florina is the main character and declaring this her mug: I know splicing and using (parts of) other character's faces is common practice in hacks but this is just copypasta.
  17. Arthur is the best. If you can give Sety the Leg + Knight Ring to make him move as much as Arthur, then I can give Arthur the Pursuit Ring and still ORKO everything. 9 mov killing machine with 1 ring > 9 mov killing machine with 2 rings. For 2-3 more chapters.
  18. Double posting to announce v3 is up. If something seems odd, keep playing. Chances are it's the game making fun of you, intentionally or not. There is a troll in Ch14 which you can sort of prepare against, but it's more fun if you don't. But really, it's up to you...you may feel licensed to countertroll when given the opportunity. I know Paperblade does.
  19. I just finished Ch13 and have a pretty good idea what to do for Ch14. When that's done I'll put up a new link.
  20. There's two Generals in that map. Shagaal clone is in the forests near your start. Then there's another, a generic one, near the castle Blume is on. One of them drops Hero Lance, the other Hero Bow.
  21. I can think of a General in Ch8 without a face that drops something (either Hero Lance or Hero Bow), but he doesn't retreat. Or move, for that matter.
  22. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=24139 edit: actual sentence itp: this thread addresses your eloquently worded concern
  23. Sawk Solo - Part II Decided Sawk rawks too much to collect dust when there's dozens of postgame trainers for him to kick ass on. Let Looker instruct me on the use of the Super Rod. Talked to my 2 stupid rivals. Talked to Juniper for some TMs. Fly to Opelucid. Deposit Reshiram. Before I want to tackle postgame, I'd like to upgrade Sawk's movepool. In particular, I want Earthquake and Rock Slide. The former is in Relic Castle, the latter in Mistralton Cave. So I Fly to Nimbasa and go to Relic Castle. I meet Juniper and get a Ragecandybar. Explore some inside before I remember where to go. Scare Plasma Grunt and own him even though he as a L64 Krookodile that could have swept 3/4 of the Elite Four by himself. Run all the way left then up the stairs for Earthquake. I'll get Volcarona and the Sage sometime later because neither of them help or involve Sawk in any way! Fly to Mistralton City and go north. Tornadus is going nuts here to the point where I can't see shit so I decide I might as well trigger its event. Then I remembered Mistralton cave isn't actually accessible from the city it's named after for some retarded reason so I fly to Driftveil. And I find that Tornadus is now active here. -_- I use Fly to get rid of it and crawl through the route into Cobalion's cave. I didn't have Flash so I used a walkthrough to get to Rock Slide. Taught Dig to my HM whore Sawk (used for Strength) and Dug my way out. Taught Sawk Rock Slide over Payback, and Earthquake over Brick Break. So now it has a semi competitive moveset of Bulk Up, Close Combat, Earthquake, and Rock Slide. Back to Opelucid. Heal to get PP back. Time to go right and fight things like Frenchbackpacker! I'm L71, and the postgame mons cap at around L68, so I figure I'll be fine. My goal from here is to explore the rest of the towns and beat trainers on the way, and then beat the Elite Four, Gamefreak dude, Cynthia, and Cheren. Since I manage to OHKO three of the L64 Rapidash, Mantine and Cacturne, I figure not even postgame can stop Sawk. I accidentally press Earthquake on Snover, which turns out to be a 2HKO. Pass through the Village Bridge and visit the heal house (why is there no Pokecenter here?). Under the bridge there's a scientist with L62 Amoongus which is kind of scary, but Scientists just love using X-items turn 1 so the Earthquake 2HKO is no prob. Double battle with two Swoobats ends up with one Rock Slide miss, so Wotter gains like 6 levels. Funnily enough the Swoobat used Endeavor so nothing happened. No challenge so far, I arrive in Lacunosa and don't even bother healing until a trainer made me run out of Close Combat PP. A Shroomish critted me with Giga Drain after I got 2 defense drops from Close Combat, it did nearly half of my HP... One Youngster sends out a Nincada, which happens to resist all my attacks! I Bulk Up for fun and it Digs, so I get two Bulk Ups in and OHKO with Earthquake. The Plusle/Minun battle was funny. I put Pidove in the second spot and used Earthquake. It gained 6 levels, learned Detect and evolved into Tranquill. I actually had a close call after that versus a Chimecho, where I missed a Rock Slide and nearly got killed by Extrasensory. The next Rock Slide flinched though, then I CC'd while it got a Full Restore. Turned out CC was an OHKO. Then I arrived in in Undella and decided to take a chance and challenge Cynthia. Her Spiritomb is set-up fodder but it also Double Teams, so basically it comes down to a little luck. I'm L76 at this point so I figure that after a fair number of Bulk Ups, she won't be in my way. Spiritomb turns out to prefer to go the offensive route with Shadow Ball, so I go with the X Special Defense/Guard Spec route, which makes it set up Double Team. I go the whole mile with an X Speed and 6 Bulk Ups. My second Earthquake hits and OHKOs. I OHKO everything else up to Garchomp, which surprisingly still outspeeds me and flinches me with Dragon Rush, but the turn after I come through with a Close Combat OHKO. I sell my White Flute to the collector, and battle his son's Buizel for laughs and money. Then I continue on my track to Black City. I flew back once because I ran out of CC PP. The L68 trainer with Purugly/Espeon/Lapras had Espeon use Future Sight on me after a double Close Combat, but thankfully I won before that hit. I hadn't seen Black City before so it was interesting looking around. First trainer had a L62 Magmortar so it looked like a nice training spot, but then the second one whipped out a L30 Electivire, so I got my doubts. L40 Victreebel and L40 Jumpluff made me lose interest. An Exeggutor gave me a little bit of a scare - it flinched on my first Rock Slide (which seemed to be a 2HKO), then it survived the second and fired off a Psyshock. It didn't quite OHKO, but it couldn't anyway because of Sturdy. The only other eventful thing was the Shadow Triad event where you get the 3 orbs for the DPP legends. I Fly to Castelia, heal, and go to the Gamefreak building to fight Morimoto. I do an X Speed and 3 Bulk Ups, then OHKO all he has. Sawk is now L83. I Fly to Nimbasa, heal, and head west to find Cheren. Then I Fly to the Pokémon League and seek him out on Victory Road. Marshal gives him that nice little speech and then we battle. Just like Morimoto, he leads with Liepard, so easy sweep. His Liepard has Aerial Ace, though. A crit took off like half my health, big deal. Bulk Up 3 times, X Speed. I OHKO Liepard and Unphesant, heal on Gigalith because I know it'll survive with Sturdy. It uses Giga Impact, so I use its recharge time to get an extra Bulk Up before finishing it off. Serperior trolled me by using Dragon Tail after surviving with Focus Sash, bringing out my other Sawk. fsr it used Dragon Tail again, causing my HM slave Sawk to KO it and waste hours of my life growing from 15 to 22. Then Haxorus killed it and I OHKO that and Simipour with Close Combat. I savestate before entering the Elite Four for a second time, because you know, what if it's unbeatable? Will I be able to KO everything on the Psychic Elite Four as easily as last time? Will I crit Musharna again? I go to Psychic Elite Four first to test. She leads with Musharna now. I look up her moveset and apparently she has Psychic/Hypnosis/Dream Eater/Reflect. Psychic and Reflect are both bad news. But she uses Hypnosis on my Bulk Up, then Dream Eater on my Full Heal. Jackpot. I repeat it once, then KO the entire team with +2 Payback or Close Combat if I can. Against Ghost girl, I Bulk Up twice on Mummy while eating Will-o-Wisp + Psychic (Psychic being a 3HKO, 2HKO with burn). I Full Restore on the next Psychic, then want to go to town with my 6 remaining Payback PP but it survivesasdfg. It burns me so we both Full Restore. I Bulk Up a third time on a missed burn, then KO with Payback. Thankfully I could save a Payback PP by Rock Sliding Froslass (and Drifblim and Chandelure as well if I wanted to risk the miss). I overwrote Payback with Brick Break and put a Max Ether on it. The remaining trainers have nothing I want to use Payback on, but I need a hell of a lot more than 3 Close Combat and 9 Rock Slide. I guess if you use 4 attacks and rely on X items instead, you have an extra moveslot and thus won't need to Ether. Dark guy's Sharpedo seems like fine set-up bait, even if I won't need much. I Bulk Up twice, then Rock Slide to avoid Rough Skin. Liepard comes out, and I use the Fake Out turn to drop an X Speed. My main reason for Bulking Up is because Krook has Intimidate and Drapion might survive. It does even after two Bulk Ups and Full Restores so I CC, anticipating another Full Restore, but the AI just gives up. I have 19 total attacking PP left for 2 trainers with 6 Pokémon each, which means can afford some whiffs now. I also have enough Bulk Up PP to go +6 on both. However, I only have 1 X Speed left, so I figure I'll save that for Alder. Marshal's Breloom prefers Sporing over attacking unless you're kind of low on health, so it's easy enough to set up on. Turns out I'm faster than his speediest Pokémon (Mienshao), heh. Sturdy + Full Restore Sawk annoys me once again, but thankfully it only does so once. I decide to 2HKO Conkeldurr with Rock Slide since that's what I have the most PP left of. Now I have 3 Brick Break, 2 Close Combat, 5 Rock Slide left, and even 8 Bulk Up. Accelgor trolls me by Me Firsting my Rock Slide, then dodging mine, but I hit the second one. I set up Bulk Ups + X Speed and heal vs Escavalier (I hadn't even done so before the battle, heh). OHKO'd his team from there. Btw, I must have misread my playing time. It's 10:32 now. I must've looked at the clock in the save file by accident, oops! No real way of checking now. One final shot of Sawk:
  24. Very nice to see everyone promoted, especially Tiltyu, Ardan, and Dew. This run convinces me how silly it is (or was) to rank units according to their contributions in a ranked run, since the EXP rank always turns it into a a team's game, where everything is centered around the weakest units rather than the strongest. Juggernauts like Lex and Sigurd are intentionally held back, so you never really get to see their awesomeness other than the occasional emergency nuke and in the arena. It turns their amazingness into "they are so awesome they COULD have done this, but since I have 500 other mouths to feed we're going to gum this enemy down with a Tiltyu/Dew combination". Wonder if Ardan is going to make it to 30. I've always found Ardan an acceptable unit in the arena thanks to him being "fast" and getting Pursuit for free, as well as being able to use bows after promotion which turns some battles int jokes.
