  1. Because Lakche and Corple are the only people who benefit from gaining double EXP, right?
  2. I hate Night of Farewells. Disappearing tiles never did it for me, I don't know how anyone could find that fun. It's pretty challenging alright, but not in a fun way. Cog of Destiny, when you're not being annoyed by the status staves, is great. It has that all-out war feel going. It has like the only challenging enemies in the game (Valkyries...Luna Druids are easy if you have a way around them, and luck-based if you don't). Same feeling for FE6 Ch21, though that one went a little overboard on the reinforcements. Most Final chapters feel very good, often because of the music.
  3. If you don't know the calculations then don't pretend you do by saying things like "if you don't train the gen 1 units it will be hard for the kids to participate in combat". (Tinny sucks regardless of parents but that's another story for another day) Who cares, Corple's never going to reach battles that matter, and if he does he's better off healing. Letting him inherit the Elite Ring is a BAD idea by the way, since then you'll be missing it for all gen 2 chapters until Corple joins (Ch9). It's in his inventory, he just can't use it until promotion. Holy weapons are passed on regardless of whether you can use them, I believe. I've never made pairings like that other than Levin/Sylvia but I recall people reporting things like Holsety in Patty's inventory. Anyway Trueblade74, please don't give advice to beginners about a game or a mechanic when you actually don't know how it works.
  4. lolno. It becomes a little harder but Sigurd can solo this map if you want him to.
  5. Changes maybe 1-2 points on their bases, so that's a gross exeggeration. If by invincible you mean they have overkill offense (Levin only after Pursuit Ring or Holsety), then yes. Otherwise, they have some troubles taking hits, and they have no mounts. Invincible would be more like Shannan, Sigurd, or indeed Holsety Sety. Corple and his replacement are both extremely useless. The Berserk staff isn't really that great but at least it has its uses.
  6. Forget that, almost all the music is hilarious when sped up.
  7. You can say whatever you want, Ayanami has been posting that kind of useless replies for several years now and isn't showing any sign of stopping. From spreading misinformation via claiming that "this game is easy because there's no tactics rank" to hyping Lilina, it's become clear to me that she's never going to learn and will ignore any logical reply.
  8. These tile sets are horrible. The shades are not right, they are unrealistic, they have dead pixels, and they smell like diarrhea. If I was a Fire Emblem character, I'd spend all my movement moving around every single one of these tiles for all of eternity. I wouldn't want to be caught dead on these, and yes, I know returning from death is not possible in Fire Emblem - they are that bad. Oh, I thought it said "People who can rip ON FE tilesets"...
  9. You could make a casual one by just doing no-brainers, such as improving weapon hit, buffing people who are completely inferior versions of others (Sophia, Lilina, Wendy, Cass), and perhaps nerfing some great units (Rutger, Alan, Lance). But the efficiency vs ranked split is very important to make, yeah.
  10. Don't mean to be overly blunt but people who make ROM hacks do so because they want to realize their own ideas. That's their main motivation. You can't expect anyone else to do it for you, nor can you expect anyone to hold your hand throughout an entire project just so you can do it. Instead you will indeed have to learn as much as you can by yourself. This used to be hard, but nowadays there's so many quality tutorials out there you should have no problems.
  11. When you pair Fin, the game tries to pass his entire equipment to his son. Every bit of equipment that son can't use (like the Hero Lance) will be treated as if it wasn't in a paired person's equipment at all. So as if it was in the Pawn Shop, or on an unpaired first gen character, etc.
  12. Really hope you'll change their overworld sprites. No matter how much text and mug editing you do, that will always be Serra and Eliwood.
  13. Nah, it was pretty obvious Chuck's greying out was intentional. Off the top of my head, it happens in the Badon cutscene, don't remember any others. If I play again I'll take screens of any errors I see. Oh, okay. What's the idea behind that? Trying to block you from reaching the chests or something?
  14. Luke is alright I guess. I'm finished with part 1 for now and he grew a little more. But I'm more impressed with the fact he's the only guy that got to level 20 (making that personal gaiden pretty much a waste of EXP, heh). It was fun seeing a somewhat darker side of Eliwood and Hector, and fighting people like Oswin, Marcus, and Lowen felt pretty weird in a good way. The prison chapter reminded me of FE5, and facing "former" allies reminded me of FE10, both very good points.
  15. This is fun to play so far, not finished yet. Some things that could be improved though, if you don't mind. On the technical side: - Opening scene in the Badon town chapter had some glitchy squares. It was fine afterwards though but you might want to look into it. Forgot to take a screen. - The dialogue scrolls too fast. As far as I know, generally in Fire Emblem, pressing A once means one more line of text appears. In this hack I've missed out on multiple lines of dialogue and I am trying to be very careful here. I vaguely remember how this happened when I was doing text editing in some old fashioned way that involved parsing from a text document but I'm sure you're using a more convenient method. - People grey out (as if they were moved during a player's turn) during cutscenes. I don't think that's supposed to happen, especially since it's inconsistent. - Some enemies in that survival gaiden don't attack. Not sure if that's intentional but I thought I'd list it. In the gameplay department: - Your initial squad is all on foot. That's fine, of course. But then the maps get really big. Okay, fair. And then it starts raining. Please don't do that, man. I felt like I was leading an army of Ardans on an FE4 map. Through forests. - I am not a spriter and I know what you said about not wanting to spend a lot of time on one character. But one thing that always ticks me off in Fire Emblem hacks is the lack of originality of the face sprites. I can't count the amount of times I've seen weird re-uses of Ephraim and especially Raven in fan-made hacks. When it's so easy to tell what existing characters your own character is made of, it loses a lot of charm. So when you have spare time, please give them a once-over. Tactics Universe has the same problem. - The personalities of the characters feel a little forced, and don't line up with their facial expressions. The main guy is alright in this department, but for example the "cunning" troubadour. With Priscilla's face which makes it all very unbelievable, just like how the guy with Raven's face seems to act in a clumsy way. It's like as if you're trying to convince us someone with Louise's face is an asshole. Sometimes not only the face is the problem. The Mage you get (Matt I think) has this personality that consists of "squirrels" and "random" - so every single line he says involves either squirrels, or not making sense. It's as if it's being pushed into my face and shoved down my throat. I'm unable to pinpoint exactly what is so irritating about this, nor can I really give a way of improvement. Other than putting in supports but obviously that's a workload you don't want to start on yet. So I'll move on to some more things I liked: - Events. Cool. Always love it when things go beyond the usual. Very good work on this. - Custom maps, very good work on that. I'm no mapper so I can't comment in detail but I always admire people who put entire maps together. - Dialogue looks fine, I think I spotted only one (?) error so far (a "you're" where it should have been "your"). - It has a storyline, and one that's actually interesting. - Pretty alright difficulty, you don't really get any broken characters and the enemies do put up a fight before going down. Really interested in how this goes on. edit: Might as well answer this. First off, hardly anyone doubles consistently except John and Anni. This made me feed the Energy Ring to the former even though being swordlocked sucks. Arnold's stats are terrible but having a mount around is great. Luke is so powerful, whatever he doubles dies. Anthony is basically Oswin. If only Anni could carry him around. Chuck is great. Smith and Hannah are just healers (with Smith doing occasional magic tricks) and they're good at it. Can't see any reason to use Ryan, and I only deployed Daniel because he could hit Wyverns for double damage. Matt is alright. Uh, most kills are cooperated efforts since hardly anyone can do things alone. I guess Luke and Anthony are doing the best at combat overall. Their personalities aren't doing much for me, they feel fabricated, except Chuck. But that's okay, I know it's hard to put a believable character on a screen. That gaiden was kind of hard. The map where you are headed towards the fortress of the gold hogging bandit was crazy long, same for the one where you have to talk to William. Other than some maps being waaaay too much walking around, I enjoyed them. Aside from the slight problems mentioned above, sure.
  16. I'd say Ch4 is harder than Ch5, Narga. Ch5 is a bunch of axe enemies surrounded by forests while you have an army of sword users. There's a few enemies that are a little harder like Mercenaries and Nomads, but Ch4 has so many Cavaliers.
  17. MAKE IT STOP meat(y): 4 fuck: 5 main land: 6 chip: 12 slowplay: 4 valley: 3 don't ask
  18. If you want your videos to be viewed, they need to contain what people want to see: certain males or certain females killing powerful bosses with tons of favouritism and/or luck. Preferably in final chapters. From the long, long time I've had a Youtube channel, the FE7 video where Isadora beats Morph Linus with two lucky critical hits still gets the most comments/views by far, whereas most of the low turn videos I have up get nearly none. Except those where Lilina is involved. People are weird, and dumb.
  19. Why would Mani Katti ever break? Lyn's not even being deployed every map. And it makes a fine Hammerne candidate.
  20. Minor things like this aren't going to win it for you, lol. You might be underestimating just how difficult this is. Don't be surprised if at Ch4 you realize you're never going to make the EXP requirement. It's simply that harsh. General tips: - Fin needs only a minimum amount of kills. His availability is enormous. Elite Ring + arena might even get him to L30 or close to it. - Ardan and Azel need everything they can get. Everything. If you can trade gold for EXP by slowly poking a brigand to death while he's burning a village, do so. Same for Dew. - Don't feed anything to Ethlin. She has staves. - Cuan does need quite some kill feeding since he leaves early. He makes good use of it in Ch2 though.
  21. Oujay and Fir aren't unusably bad. They are often compared to their superior class counterparts even though the existence of those shouldn't be all-determining of their worth. However, the fact is that they're more trouble than they're worth. You can train them, but don't expect anything extraordinary for your efforts.
