Byorythm just lowers hit, avoid, and skill activation when its low, and the opposite when its high.

Gotcha. It's actually kind of interesting to have something else influence hit, avoid, and skill in addition to the factors that typically do.

Let me guess: The blood pact?

Spoilers for Radiant Dawn above, don't read if you don't want any.

Perhaps to a certain point, but one never knows. What you consider a boring view point another may see it as triggering.

It's a really beautiful title theme.

Ah yes. That particular RD plot point. It can die in a fire.

RD's a good game. Too bad it has that blemish.

Ikr

I was like "Why?"

That plot point is also why i don't like miccy much. I loved her in part 1, and then wondered wtf is up with her in part 3

Than that plot point...

Right now, I'm more checking to see if everything works.
And it does work! Even the intro cinematic played without issue. Best part is I have no clue how or why...

Just finished Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated. Man, that was a show. I neat take on the Scooby-Doo formula that could get really weird at times, especially during the 2nd season. And with that, another chapter "shows i watched as a kid but never finished" is closed.

Just... don't expect another Berseria, plot-wise, is all.

I mean, to be fair, Berseria's plot itself is nothing to write home about, it's just that the characters are really good.

Tbh, as long as i'm not disapointed in the end, i'm fine with things in anything not reaching the heights of what came before/what i expireienced before. I'd rather not focus on "will this reach the height of this other thing"

Btw, Quick Step is only for field movement, it doesn't really serve much purpose in battle. If it's not on the lead party member, Quick Step justs wastes a slot.

Alright, so, Mission 01. A series staple, defend your air base from incoming bombers. Unlike the last game, and repeated in 6, we now fly in a two-person formation. Just you and your buddy... I mean, wingman. Galm 2, Larry Foulke, aka Solo Wing Pixy. The man. The myth. The legend. Anyway, unlike 5, you can't change his plane, just what SP he'll carry. He always flies an F-15C Eagle, with a unique skin, which is just the right wing painted red. This, as well his nickname Solo Wing amounts from an incident where he had to land his plane after it got one of the wings blown off by enemy fire. This is apparently based from a real-life incident where an Israeli pilot who had to do the same. The difference being this one was due to a mid-air collision with another plane, and it was with an F-15D. Despite this restriction, it's not that bad. Eagle here has XMAA's, QAAM's, and UGBL's, so he has versatility.

Well anyway, back to the mission, Zero has a main gimmick: Ace styles. Across the missions there will be targetable things that are actually labeled as neutral, marked in yellow by the HUD. Usually denotes civilians, but this also includes enemies that instead of being destroyed, they turn "neutral" and will attempt to flee the battlefield. Though only the planes will do this. These are still capable of being destroyed, and will give additional points. The game incorporates a bar divided in three: Mercenary, Soldier, Knight. Where you are in the bar will depend on how much yellow units you destroyed, or left alive. At game start you start in the very middle, and there's an award for finishing the game there. That's what I'll aim for in this first playthrough. Although sadly it's hard to gauge what ratio to go for. This first mission one bomber and three of the plane escorts turned yellow. I destroyed one of them and the bomber, but this moved the bar left towards Mercenary. Seems because the bomber gave more points, despite keeping a 1:1 on the spare-destroy ratio. This will be interesting...

So, what Ace style you have will change things during the game, but some I won't see for now. Went ahead and did Mission 02. Liberate a highway to secure a supply line and link up the Ustian and Osean forces. This place had lots of yellow units. Despite the uneven rate, I managed to shift the gauge back to roughly the very center of the bar. So far so good.

Also did Mission 03. A patrol/recon mission whose true purpose was to lure away Belkan attention as the allied forces regroup. A patrol mission on... B7R, aka The Round Table. Ah, no ground units to worry of. Just pure dogfighting. This place had two turns-yellow units. Both being the same kind of plane I managed to keep the gauge from moving by shooting down one of them. Now this is the first big change depending on Ace style. Approaching the Round Table itself (which you have to do anyway) will trigger a Belkan squadron to show up. Which one depends on the Ace style, and sticking to Soldier means...

latest?cb=20171012205039

Grun Team. A four-plane formation, all F/A-18C Hornets. They have this annoying bit of carrying Chaff to divert missiles aiming at them. While this is a SP on some planes... the Hornet isn't one of them. Simply put, this is something only these guys can have, not us. Bummer. So, another thing to point out. Zero employs a different Ace system than 04 and 5 did. It can now be said aces are all over the place. Missions will now have more than one ace flying around, and some only show up depending on Ace style and even the difficulty. Some show up already like in 04, while others need special triggers to show up like in 5. Most need to finish the campaign first for them to show up, while others are there since the first playthrough. Grun Team? All four are aces. A neat feature this game adds is the Assault Records, where for each ace you shoot down you unlock their bios and what they did after the war, if they lived. To recap: Grun 3 and Grun 4 are KIA, Grun 2 and Grun 1 live.

Due to this system, most aces don't unlock anything. Most. Grun 1 himself not only unlocks the Hornet to be buyable in the Hangar, but also unlocks one of its skins. Specifically, the same paint scheme Grun Team itself flies. Neat.

F/A-18E Grun Team (Ace Combat Zero) - Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 ...

Speaking of the Hangar, ACZ is a game that checks for save data of other games in the Memory Card. Specifically, for 04 and 5 data. Save data from 04 unlocks the X-02 Wyvern as soon you get access to the Hangar. Nice! Though, well, it's very expensive. The Wyvern can still be unlocked through other means, but naturally it takes more to do so otherwise.

Well then, I think that's it for today. Will continue next time.

Ah, the Fortress Units. Everyone's favorite Mechon /s.

You can cheese them if you climb to the upper bridges and attack them from there. They won't be able to use their deadly Titan Stamp then.

...btw, there's a Unique Monster variant of the Fortress Units later on. Look forward to it *evil laugh*.

No. I don't think that one registers as a UM anyway.

The one i'm refering to comes much later in the game. It's name is Majestic Mordred, Lv.75, and if you don't bring any blaze defense/debuff resist Gems with you, this will be you like, immideatly after you begin fighting it:

tenor_71.gif

Because it will always open up with a blaze Art that can take you out via damage over time very quickly.

Though I haven't played FE1-3 yet.

3 is alright, I consider it the "Link to the Past of FE" in terms of historical impact.

What does that mean? Basically, FE1 invented the franchise, FE2 history has shown was different- a black sheep for a long time. FE3 brushed aside FE2's deviations and besides an abridged remake of the first game, included a new scenario that followed in the first's format. In effect, although subsequent games would amend the formula, FE3 defined the core of what FE is in gameplay. The Legend of Zelda went through the same story, it had the first game, a black sheep NES sequel, and third SNES game that set in stone the franchise's true direction, based more on the first. Castlevania underwent the same process, albeit entirely on the NES.

Owing to Zelda being action-adventure and FE SRPG in genre, A Link to the Past has aged much better than Mystery of the Emblem has, and Mystery has sorta bad even for the SNES graphics too if you compare them with what FE4 achieved. But look past the age, the old oddities, the story being mostly expose, and the sluggish animations, and FE3 is a simple, but fully functional standard FE.

I liked it, Book 1 is too easy and drab, but Book 2, despite the difficulty sine wave, is kinda fun to me. I really liked its version of Manakete gameplay mechanics, and Marth has an angry face expression that combined with the just the right music makes this the game I felt for him the most in the three games of his I've played.

Ermm, Armagon, are you sure there's no lvl 57 in the Valley that does the exact same thing xD

I just got ultra destroyed by a Flamethrower haha

Mysterious Naberius I assume? Located at the dead-end past where you're supposed to go? Yep, I died to it a bunch. Majestic Mordred later was less noticeable than a dust mite to me, Naberius bit like a swarm of gallinippers (a disease-free mosquito species that make it feel like you're being stabbed when it bites you- so I read). I had to come back later to kill it I think, because it was that difficult.
