  1. And aren't all of them "Quick Burn Cannons" too? As in once injured, their offense drops precipitously? Although I get it kinda aligns with Valentian magic mechanics and Combat Arts, and I think most characters will find their alts playing at least somewhat similarly to their old selves. Just my criticisms in bold, don't mean to start a raging argument or anything, I'm fine with tempered discussion though. Deleted any character I didn't want to or would not argue. As for other characters I tend to like, Tethys, Gerik (stereotypical old mercenary, but I like him), Knoll, Duessel, and I guess Amelia (more than the other two trainees at least). I try to like Rennac and Syrene for some reasons, but I'm not sure how much I can. The BK doesn't need that much use. Have him clear the way to climb the first couple of cliffs, and you can retire him for the rest of the match.
  2. Not quite so battle-ready, but I do like it. The arrangement of Lachesis with everyone else on that particular page is like a family portrait, albeit with Lachesis seeming more like Eldigan's wife than Grayne is due to her standing closer to him. Treasure's arrangements of the individual artworks in groups was rather well thought out. I do like a lot of the Treasure designs. I hope Patty is based on her Treasure (or TCG S3) self with pants, over the actual ingame and Super Tactics book (which is of the same style as the Manual artwork) appearance of a short skirt. Yet it seems FEH, and the Awakening EInherjar, ignored the Treasure artwork for the TCG Series 2 and 3 stuff, and the original Manual/Super Tactics stuff (although Manual Sigurd is very good). For those who wish to follow what I mean, here, here, and here on SF provides it all.
  3. Self-pity does nothing for your pity rate. Otherwise every other pull would be a 5*.
  4. They probably took fashion advice from PoR Geoffrey and Oscar (both Tellius games): I have the same reservations. However, Raven got Basilkos, and then did Linus, so Duessel and Knoll might still be able to get Grado's Sacred Twins. More of an issue is that Linus might have some appeal, while a devoted, but sullen scholar and an old general and mentor might not have so much. When they make these decisions, it's the character first, and the weapon follows. This had to be the case with Brave Ephraim, and it was probably so with Gleipnirika. Knoll was not in the running, because they picked Eirika, and only afterwards decided on Gleipnir as her weapon in all likelihood.
  5. "Beta" in gaming means a version of the game before the final product. Typically the player never sees this in the final copy, although some fighting and MMO games nowadays seem to have "open betas" that let players play. Bits of the beta stuff sometimes reside in the final products though. I find it fascinating generally, signs of what a game could have been, but didn't become, roads not taken. In Blazing Sword's data you find these scrapped classes: Besides the Lycian Knight class, I'd like Eliwood with Maltet for other reasons. As you said, Knight Lord can use Lances. Furthermore, while Roland was likely infantry, Baligan, the user of Maltet, was likely a Paladin. Speaking of Paladins, Trial Map Old Eliwood in FE6 has S Lances, but only A Swords and C Axes. (FE6 Hector had only A Axes and A Lances.) Lastly, I don't mean to insult Eliwood or anything, but Ilia seems "mild" (outside of the weather), like him, as weird as that sounds. I will gladly second Young Mother Nino and older Sanaki. Whether they give Sanaki a new older self based on the person she grows into after RD, or that scrapped sultry adult Sanaki from PoR (which even has an unused map sprite I once saw), I don't care. It exists IS, why not try using it? SoV had some semblances too, just thiner, cruder semblances, but I could see maps where I thought "if only they had expanded on this idea more". I would say SS had some good maps, the best desert chapter ever (if only the bosses eventually moved on Hard with an entourage), Ephraim's route on the whole isn't bad, outside of a little too much backstabbyness on the Phantom Ship. Eirika's is worse, but nothing really atrocious. SS's roster to me, I don't know what exactly to think of it. For some reason Moulder likes to come to the surface of my thoughts for me, and so does Vanessa, two very plain characters. L'Arachel provides some pop! (even if I've gotten over it), others have some color, and there characters I do quite like, but on the whole it leans towards a little too vanilla for me.
  6. So do I, you aren't alone. Beta FE7 Eliwood might have been a lance lord, I'd be fine with this.
  7. That would still leave Apocalypse unclaimed. Lyn again or Nino 3?
  8. One possibility I can conceive of is that it'd do the standard effect 100% of the time, but would do even more at or above a certain HP threshold.
  9. Rex Hasta has no background behind it, it just exists in FE7. Maltet as a Divine Weapon was so powerful it radically changed a continent's climate and wrecked havoc against dragons. Why didn't Lyn get Rienfleche? She never comes within a hundred miles of the Mugalir in FE7. And I assume there was no theme to this CYL group. Just whatever weapons and designs?
  10. But it means this baby can one day be brought back to life! Oh wait it's Marth silly! He is not getting that. Only Smash treats him well with that lovely tipper mechanic and all. So Ephraim does have Garm, well as long as Duessel gets it or in a 2.0 form, I can bear the spite. Celica brings Alm's old sword? Strange but okay! Veronica I have zero interest in and am completely neutral towards. Hector bringing the Maltet means all but Aureola and Apocalypse of the Divine Weapons have appeared in Heroes, get the remaining two in and they can finally point the way to Idunn (the Saint's Staff isn't one). I guess I'll spend my freebie on Hector, as predicted, it wasn't very likely to change anyhow. But I won't summon on this. I'll leave everyone here arguing over whether the new power creeps end up making this game worth my time or not in the future.
  11. I do, I just felt like throwing in mention of Nintendo's other overly watery game. I stopped Pokemon at Gen 5, but Gen 4 was the real peak of Pokemon experience, and while I forgot the sluggishness of surfing, I do actually recall the painful slowness of battle and the other things you say. Not to mention perhaps the most HM necessity nastiness, Victory Road there I recall was awful. How could a game have lots of water and land the highlighted problem be avoided? Hmm.... I know! PokEgypt! Start either in the Sandnile River Delta, or at the sources of the Sandniles and move gradually south/north to the other end via the river, crossing the banks back and forth along the way. One real spinoff instance is not the same as a remake of a mainline. I had it as a kid. Calling it a successor to Hey You Pikachu! sans mic would be the obvious thing. But genre? That I admit is difficult to nail down, it's like they wanted to make a nonviolent/action intimate Pokemon game. It was just really, really, really shallow and underdone. Maybe a nice idea underneath it all? That is the best I can say of it.
  12. Only played the originals, and it was long ago. And I had game guides. As has been said, there really isn't that much water, it's only the final stretch of the game. However, water looks samey, water is filled with scatter trainers, an- *A wild level 15 Tentacool appeared!*. Repel is always a great QoL thing in Pokemon, but having to spam it is never not in a small measure annoying (and yet I can't see Pokemon with a totally free Bravely random encounter adjuster, nor visible enemies). As for optionality- who doesn't explore the whole of a Pokemon world? They're part of what makes Pokemon so wonderful. It might as well have been mandatory to me. Lavender to Fuchsia has a semi-varied terrestrial landscape. The route from Fortree to Lilycove is similar, but even more varied a landscape. Open water isn't so distinctive, although I could be saying too nice a thing of Lavender-Fuchsia here, since Kanto's Routes and such on the whole aren't so fabulous. And there are plenty of walking places where you don't need to spray Repel, with more trainer variety too. Just curious, what were the problems there? Not exactly a lot of water, being Hoenn's thematic opposite. *Smacks you with a Deku Leaf* I think you have to admit it to be true of at least one game. Not to say WW is bad, the Great Sea is great for one who likes to explore (OoT, TP, and SS are all lacking here, perhaps WW even beats out ALttP), but even the developers realized there were problems and added the Swift Sail in the HD version. And maybe some coral reefs! Corsola but no coral reefs, which are the foundation of so much oceanic biodiversity, and which are bright and colorful and bustling. To use The Blue Planet I & II documentary series for ocean environments, we have: The Deep Big Blue/Open Ocean Coral Seas/Reefs Green Seas (Kelp Forests) Coasts Tidal Seas Seasonal Seas Frozen Seas Now we can't have Hoenn do Frozen Seas, and Coasts are land and sea, which is bit more complicated, and I'm not sure Hoenn can do Temperate Seas. Hoenn has plenty of The Deep, and Big Blue, with the Tidal Seas represented by the Shoal Cave. But Coral Reefs and Green Seas are nowhere to be found. Now what places we presently have are: Rapid currents (Pacifidlog-Slateport route) The little Regice islands The one shipwreck The Shoal Cove Mossdeep looks nice Sootopolis is very unique Pacifidlog is interesting as an idea too Mirage Island (IF you get lucky enough to see it) The Sky Tower Some underwater caverns This is decent variety as is, I'm not sure how many more oceanic-themed locations one could come up with, I concede this. Is a request for more too much?
  13. I understand this. Some, like Vyland, Tristan, Ralf, and even in RD with Aran, all lack anything to them. It'd be better if they were added quietly as filler units, but I don't see that happening as things stand. Some characters will likely not make it into FEH before it dies, which is understandable. Well I didn't count villains and NPCs as pointed out several times. Adding them decreases the representation percentages of most games. And I didn't rely purely on CYL owing to a few hiccups in its lineup, no Lekain but yes to Amy for instance.
  14. The problem with the sibling theme, as good as it is, is color representation. Ephraim would go Red, Celica would go Blue, but Veronica would also be Blue, and Hector would either be Blue, or, to go by FE7's unused NPC data: Uther Class: General (M) Affinity: Anima Weapon Ranks: Axe S, Lance A Axxxxeeeeeee! And no Colorless in sight. Assuming they wanted to do color symmetry again, which they might given the hint they'll be giving another free pick. If Marth somehow got in on the sibling fun, he'd be packing some Staffin'. Aum perhaps (Marth should be a pure/noble enough soul to use it)? Assist that is "One guaranteed Miracle proc for a unit for one turn."? Sounds like some good utility.
  15. That is what I was thinking. The center staircase and two cliffs match perfectly on the BHB. And the area from the second set of cliffs from the bottom matches up with the initial deployment area. The far right staircase is also alluded to with the blockage on the left. My second guess was 1-2: The Dispossessed: But while this explains the lower left area on the BHB better, it doesn't align with the rest of the BHB map anywhere near as well. So I very much doubt it.
  16. I've decided to funnel my liking for gathering bits of data and assemble them into an actual topic for anyone to reference. What shall be included? Well I'm including the percentage of each world/game's roster presently in FEH. And the rough numbers of who aren't in according to unit type. I've also added who is in according to weapon and movement type combination. But I'm willing to add more data as is desired. First, representation numbers: Number of PCs per game: Number of non-alt Characters in FEH and the percent it is of the total roster. Note that going wholly on PC totals (without Trial Maps or Creature Campaign) isn't a good idea here, since it leaves out important NPCs and villains, so add ~6-10 additional characters to account for this. Does not count characters who debuted in Seasonal form, non-Seasonal but still alt, nor Selena as Severa or Laslow as Inigo. List of Fire Emblem Heroes OCs- all of whom barring Feh will assuredly be playable eventually. So far, the count is 20: List of Seasonal Alts. I count 105.: List of all Non-Seasonal Alts, including Legendaries and Braves, I count 41 (42ish).: Now as for units not in the game. Their types- Infantry/Armor/Cavalry/Flier, and their weapons. I'm only counting playable ones here, add in villains and NPCs.: Playable Sword Infantry. ~31 at least, upwards of 49 factoring in multi-weapon wielders.: Playable Lance Infantry. 4-5 (5-6 if you count Devdan and Danved separately) in total.: Playable Axe Infantry. Contains 30 definites/near absolutes, and 16 possibilities.: Playable Sword/Lance Cavalry (not going to count them separately), excludes Nomad Troopers, Bow Knights, and certain Valkyries. 47 in total.: Playable Axe Cavalry. Of which, we only have 6 guaranteed, and 16 doubtful possibilities from the Sword/Lance group. Playable Armors (regardless of weapon wielded). 23 in total.: Guaranteed Infantry Archers (excludes Generals, Warriors, and Ballisticians). 16 total, upwards of 26 when adding infantry bows who could become mounted instead.: Bow Cavalry (Geoffrey and Fiona excluded) and Infantry Archers who could be Cavalry (excludes those who use Swords at base). 22 in total- 13 certain to be Cavs, 9 not certain characters.: Playable (non-Laguz) fliers of any weapon. I count 27 (26 without the wildcard of Female Kris).: Playable Thieves/Dagger Units. I count 20.: Playable Tome Units. I won't divide by color or type (since most will be Infantry), but I will color the font of some to align with where I believe they have a heavy chance of being, if they have one. I count 41.: Staff Units (Invariably, many could go Tome, and I listed a couple in the Tomes list too because of this). I count 36, of whom, 3 are certain to be Staff Cavalry.: And why not add some villains? You could easily slash out a ton of the more minor ones, I've just listed nearly all "feasible" possibilities. To be as generous as a saint, I list 64.: Beast (excluding Dragon Tribe) Units. With the 3DS shifters, I count 11: Breath Units, contains overlap with the GHB list. I count 11: And now, what we do have in the game already divided by unit class and Color: Will this suffice for now? I can add more later, and make corrections. Enjoy! List of edits made so far.
