  1. Well, personally I would prefer to make my stand for the defense of the creative vision of games on the case of a game that actually has artistic integrity, like Senran Kagura or Dead or Alive for example. I mean, these games are shallow but they are pure and honest about what they are. All Treehouse did was to treat Fates with the same level of profit-maximizing cynicism as IS.
  2. And yet you list your favorite Fire Emblem game as Path of Radiance. A game that was heavily about rascism and discrimination, as well as the injustice of the value of individuals being defined by the social status in which their were born into. When it comes to it's themes, PoR is the most "political" Fire Emblem by far.
  3. I am absolutely not thinking that Kaga is actually approving of the kidnapping and physical and sexual abuse of girls. I don't know what he was going for but even if my worst fears would actually be correct and he consciously put in all that slave girl stuff solely because he has a fetish for it, my worst objection would be that a serious war story is not the right place to indulge in these kind of fantasies. I would still not jump to the conclusion that he actually approves of any of this. But I can most certainly also imagine that this stuff is simply an attempt to address these horrifying consequences of war in a way that CERO would allow. Lots of possibilities here and nothing really substantial. Which is why judging the character of a person based their creative work is usually not a good idea and indeed quite unfair. At the end of the day, all I can say for certain is that I don't like how the final results looked like.
  4. Because Kris did not exist in the original story at all. Nevertheless the purpose of New Mystery's retelling seems to be to portray Marth as, to use Elice's words, "a weak, vulnerable child" who is emotionally dependent on the player. Keep in mind Elice seems to have the same opinion of Marth as Hardin, the game's main villain. Hardin claims that Marth is just a brat who wouldn't have accomplished anything without him. They gave Kris the role that Hardin claims to have had in the first game without the slightest hint of irony or selfawareness. Which seems to me to be a really good indicator that Mystery's original story didn't matter to IS beyond serving as a convenient framing device for the game's brown nosing of the player. And at the end of the day the game does paint Kris as the true hero of the conflict and claims that Kris accomplishments were falsely attributed to Marth. It's just that Kris selflessly refused any credit because they were wise enough to realize that a "godlike hero" was needed: Keep in mind, this is the final piece of dialog before the ending narration.
  5. I love how Goku handled Bergamo. Of course he would feel nothing but enthusiasm over the prospect of "limitless power". This fight may not have been that spectacular but I think I enjoyed it even more then the previous two.
  6. I'm not sure if it's even easy at all. I remember easy mode to be all kinds of weird. Like, that enemies were actually significantly tougher then the recruitable characters from the same map. And then there is also the issue with the data transfer to the sequel game Radiant Dawn. The data transfer doesn't work with the early North American copies of Radiant Dawn if you have any Easy Mode data in PoR. Presumably because the developers simply forgot about it since this easy mode only exists in the international version.
  7. From the sounds of it you are playing easy mode then? The exp gains in that mode are all kinds of silly. Everyone will hit lv 20 long before the end of the game. So personally I don't think it's a fun mode to play. If you are having fun, it's all good of course. I just thought that you should know that this strange level progression is not normal. Whatever the case, it might be a good idea not to give Ike any skills so that he has enough capacity to learn Aether when you get an Occult Scroll. Occult Scrolls teach promoted units their "Mastery" skill. Which may sound powerful, but in practice most of them are painfully underpowered. Aether on the other hand is basically Adept + Sol + Luna rolled into one and the best Mastery Skill by far.
  8. Radiant Dawn probably had the right idea in Part 4, by giving each army access to the same inventory, logic be damned. Good TFS Vegeta impression btw. I'm glad I wasn't using headphones. And just in case you forgot: The Devil Lance is cursed. Zieg is immune to it's effects but no one else is. Btw, you see that window that says "Order" on the unit management screen? Maybe you already know this but you can change the mode by pressing Select. "Order" will change to "Move" and you can simply move a unit somewhere else without them swapping positions with another unit. I think it's rather handy when assigning your units between the two armies.
  9. I'm gonna say Katri. She is the only one that makes me feel like I am throwing an actual dragon at a problem. It's unbalanced as hell but so very satisfying.
  10. Silly Ahab trying to go on the offensive with such few troops under his command. And I'm sorry to confirm this after you already had all this trouble with the recording but you did indeed miss out on Bud and Rishel. Unfortunately Bud takes her sweet time and only shows up at turn 6. I was hoping that the two of them would join anyway, like Sharon and Billford do, but alas that's apparently not the case. Also, I somehow never noticed that Rishiel has 1 base movement. Sweet! He is not the only one btw. That Lionel fellow who you had to reject in favor of Ezekiel had no less then 2 base movement in addition to his high Movement growth. That guy is absolutely hilarious on indoor maps.
  11. Makes sense that Universe 9 would be at the very bottom. I mean, their poisons are awful. Apparently even if you apply it in massive quantities, it still takes like 20 minutes for it to actually disable an opponent. I'm no expert but I think the poisonous animals of our planet are far more deadly then that.
  12. Despite what the description implies, the Dragon Breath can not actually overcome the Dragon Scale. So Katri would not have been able to hurt Kranion either. It's such a shame that those sweet dragon animations are so underused since the AI always goes for the Large Breath. Anyway, neither of the two Star weapons you got is a personal weapon. It's not a personal weapon unless the description specifically says that only a certain character can use it. So I'm not sure how the game decides how to apply those stars. The only practical effect of them seems to be that they can't be repaired by ordinary Repair Hammers. Maruje would have actually gotten another Sylphid if he was in Holmes group when he went to the Temple of Mars. But that would mean that you couldn't have gotten that Salia Codex that he got you on Runan's route. Of course the main benefit of sending Maruje to Holmes is seeing him getting dissed by Alicia.
  13. My guess would be that Ike would return to Nohr... in order to confront Garon. That would be very much in line with how he acted when he learned about the Serenes massacre, where he went straight for Sanaki demanding an explanation, while ignoring any sort of formalities or protocol despite knowing what kind of consequences that could have. Not to mention, what seems to go under Ike's skin more then anything else is betrayal. This was most noticeable when he confronted Lehran: Quite a strong thing to say for a hero when confronting a sympathetic antagonist. And as far as Ike would know, Garon betrayed not just him but also Gunther and got him killed in the process. So Xander and Leo would have to try really hard in order to prevent an escalation right then and there. Assuming both Ike and Garon would survive that confrontation, Ike would probably try to reason with his siblings. Should that fail, I find it hard to predict how things would go from there. Sure, Ike is the kind of person who would rather not be involved in a mess like that but he does value family a lot, so it would be hard for him to stay out of the whole thing altogether. But he definitely wouldn't stay and work for Garon, especially after learning that even his siblings are terrified of him.
  14. Congrats on Leonie getting Movement. And btw, you are correct in your assumption that Flurry requires you to be faster then your opponent. Meanwhile poor Kate doesn't get a single point of speed from her promotion. I didn't realize her promotion gains are that terrible. I love the Lady Knight class and it's sword & bow combo, so I really wish that Kate would be a little better. The Sol sword is not actually a personal weapon for Runan, everyone can use it. The game doesn't actually use different sprites for different weapons of a category, it just uses different palettes. Like, if you use a Hammer, it's displayed as a black axe. The SNES Fire Emblem games on the other hand did actually use different sprites for each weapon. Well, at least the Jugdral games did, I don't remember about FE3.
  15. Corrin: A friendly young royal who is greatly beloved by his subjects. Chrom: A young man for who friends and family always come first.
  16. If a character leaves, TRS usually drops their items into the storage beforehand. There are some exceptions but I'm sure this one isn't one of them.
  17. Glade has less votes then Conomore? Must be the stache. Anyway, Glade is hardly MVP material but he comes with high enough bases to be a solid contributor for any outdoor map. And having a leadership star allows him to make everyone else perform better simply by being deployed. His low luck makes him susceptible to critical hits but that can easily fixed by giving him any scroll.
  18. And just 2 hours after that tweet he is already back to ranting about how those stories are fabricated by the media and the democrats. Even today Trump still can't decide if he wants to go with "the leaks are fake" or "the leakers are scum and need to be caught". I know Trump changes his position all the time but currently he is spinning so fast that it would make him immune to Stealth Rock.
  19. Wow, I was not aware that the fort gets attacked by Mogals until you deal with the Archmogal. That's pretty cool. That fort is similar to the town, except you can only visit it during a skirmish. Those skirmishes fortunately respawn quickly. That Arvanrest you got is sadly completely worthless. It can only be used by those wooden tanks. If they attack with it, they will turn into a stationary and frail Ballista with zero movement. Transforming into a Ballista may sound cool but the problem is that there seems to be no way to turn the Ballista back into a tank. I guess this is a feature that was simply left unfinished. And man, even with the new translation it's very hard to keep track of what's going on. There are just so many characters, locations and relationships to keep up with.
  20. That must be one hell of a dungeon if it costs 15 to 30€. Oh well, I would have gotten the Amiibo anyway.
  21. Frau should really listen to her sister. You let Katri out of your eyes for a minute and suddenly you find yourself knee-deep in zombies. Anyway, Occult Scrolls can indeed be used by unpromoted units. So using them on Pegasus Knights is a good idea, especially since the difference in caps between promoted and unprompted units is fairly small, so promotions are not that vital. And in the case of Dragon Knights, their magic actually takes quite a bit of a dive. Just keep in mind that you can only use those scrolls when a unit has already hit their level cap. I suppose it would have been better to explain how that town works, spoilers be damned. It should be communicated to the player that they don't have to do everything right away and that they are not expected to, otherwise this simply map could easily end in frustration. Edit: Also, I have no idea what the point of donating to the church is either. One would think that doing that would eventually get that priest to trust you with Lyria but I recall dumping quite a bit of money on this guy in order to get her (since my Attrom died) to no effect.
  22. An annoying thing about Holmes' route in terms of story is that most of the time he seems to have very little reason for doing what he does. So I am not surprised you lost track about what he is currently after, that happened to me as well. To recap: Holmes is currently trying to find an orb in the ruins of Leda to the north, which has the ability to resurrect the dead. They want to use it to resurrect Attrom's sister. On my run Attrom actually died in his joining chapter, so there Holmes had even less reason to chase after that thing. They definitely should have thought up a better reason to get Holmes to Leda. As for that house, I think you would have needed the money to offer that woman before entering. Still, I don't think the weird behavior of the text boxes is normal and probably was a bug with the patch. And that thing with Plum is just all kinds of disturbing. It obviously doesn't feel very good to deliberately decide to have her get kidnapped in order to get a dancer. More importantly though, Kaga's slave dancers always seem so... fetishy. And not because of their skimpy wardrobe, if it was just about seeing the cleavage of 14 year old girls, then the whole slavery aspect wouldn't be necessary. I am talking more about how they endured so much pain and humiliation, yet they are also aggressively unaffected by all that abuse. Like, Sylvia, Lara and Plum all got their dancing skills literally beaten into them, yet they also find it super fun somehow? To the point where Plum argues with her brother about it in the same scene where he rescues her? Tear Ring Saga in particular seems to be very confused about where it's going with all of this. The scene where Plum got kidnapped was a very dark scene, with a seemingly harmless old lady being perfectly happy to help a slave trader preying on adolescent girls for a few coins. In this chapter, we've seen the slave trader throwing disgusting insults at Plum and threaten here with violence with the implication that she gets beaten on a regular basis. Yet, the rescuing scene is oddly lighthearted, with the slave trader being allowed to just wander off as if he was just some quirky troublemaker like Team Rocket or whatever. It's definitely the aspect of Kaga's games that bugs me the most, that's for sure.
  23. Btw, they didn't write about this one twitter but the demo version has been updated several times since it's release. There is a changelog over on their forum: http://www.galaxytrail.com/forum/index.php/topic,1108.0.html For the most part the changes seem to be merely bugfixes, or at least nothing too spectacular that I feel is worth mentioning here. But I am really glad that they changed those annoying spinning enemies. They are no longer invulnerable while spinning. I doubt they will ever become anyone's favorite Freedom Planet enemy but they are definitely a lot less of a pain now. Also, Freedom Planet 2 is on Steam Greenlight now: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=861154312 And I suppose shouldn't forget to point out that the Mac version of the demo is out by now.
  24. This definitely looks very promising. The first game is currently on sale on Steam for 2€, so I think that I should definitely try this one out.
