  1. How does moving around on the World Map work now? In the original Gaiden, enemy armies could move while you were moving, which would probably cause issues if you could move several ties at once like in Sacred Stones or could easily run all over the place like in Awakening. Now to mention the issue of controlling two armies at once.
  2. I suppose a very good example to illustrate this would be how in the manga of Naruto Shikamaru did do a smoke in memory of his mentor while in the Anime he was not allowed to do that. Which just so happened to occur after he cut of an immortal guy's head and buried it alive. Every country seems to have weird priorities when it comes to these things.
  3. Considering all that Wars World stuff in your signature, doesn't that mean you have played at least one of the GBA games or Dual Strike already? Anyway, I would say that with Dark Conflict and Black Hole Rising being so massively different in tone, it really depends on the person in question for what they prefer. They are both good games to be sure. I would be a lot more careful to recommend AW1 and I'd definitely not recommend Dual Strike. But in terms of mechanics I prefer Dark Conflict because you have to actually work to increase your Co gauge, so it doesn't really have that annoying rubber band thing with the Co Powers that tends to unnecessarily drag out maps.
  4. Btw, Gamexplain's review shows them picking up alcoholic drinks but I thought they couldn't be used in any version of the game. So why would you still be able to find those items? Do they have another purpose?
  5. The translation we have of Gaiden's ending does sound to me like that. https://serenesforest.net/gaiden/scripts/script-translation/ending/ Jenny Though no one could have possibly dreamed of it happening, it’s said that she fell in love with one of her companions. Who in the world could that person be? Her only answer is a smile. Saber * (If Jesse is alive) He joined the establishment of Jesse’s kingdom. Meanwhile, he gets to cuddle with a lovely wife. * (If Jesse is dead) Together with his lovely wife, he works towards the restoration of the Kingdom of Valencia. There was another implied romances like that. In Thracia, Olwen's ending mentions she married an "surprisingly ordinary man" while Fred's ending mentions having married a younger women who was his commander. Not to mention all that stuff with the Beo Sword. So unless they have stronger candidates for each other, I would assume that this is intended to give people the idea that Jenny and Saber got together.
  6. I don't think Meteor is worth keeping. It is an A-Rank tome after all and weapon ranks grow very slowly in this game.
  7. Not to mention all those blue Laguz Stones that enemies carry in that chapter (I wonder if that's specifically a Maniac Mode thing or just a general JPN version thing). In my case I decided to just ignore the BEXP and tried to snatch as many of them as possible.
  8. I usually don't bother trying to deliberately raise a Mage's weapon level because progressing from E is incredibly slow, so they don't have much of a chance to get above D before promotion anyway. And since promotion raises all the magic schools to D (and only up to D) anyway, I really don't think that it's worth it.
  9. Seth's growths are actually quite a bit better then those of the other Cavaliers. So yeah, as has been stated, Seth on lv. 20 is pretty much equal to the other Cavaliers on 20/20.
  10. Yikes, it's kinda surprising to see your 1 minute video get like 10 times the views as the actual parts of the playthrough. Otherwise I suppose I don't have a lot to say this time. Other then leaving Titania to dodge several attacks on 10 HP while wielding that 20 wt Hammer was absolutely reckless but I suppose that goes without saying. I did try using Mia on my Maniac playthrough but it just didn't work out. Well, technically I did keep using her but I eventually decided to just give her a 255 crit Slim Sword so she can at least deal a little damage.
  11. Yeah, killing the boss would not have ended the chapter. It's totally worth it though. Not for the Ashera Icon but because of a nameless Daein Soldier who doesn't take it particularly well and starts getting illusions of grandeur: In other news, I noticed Titania is carrying the Paladin Ring but she didn't actually have it equipped. Fortunately those rings are absurdly inconsequential, so even if she had gotten a level, it would have been unlikely to have made any difference. Not only do Angelic Robes not fill up the HP during the map but the same thing even happens if you use them on the Battle Preparations Menu or in the Base Menu. I'm surprised that an error like this did not even end up getting fixed in the international version. There was music during this chapter but it was oddly quiet. I really like that scene at the end with the characters getting ready to make all sorts of preparations before leaving. It's completely inconsequential to the story but it helps to make the player feel the weight of these events, how the life of our characters has been completely turned upside down. There are some neat details there too. Like when Elincia casually mentions sword fighting and riding among a list of skills that she has. Or that brief moment where Elincia is taken by surprise by Ike nonchalant sending her off to help out the others with their tasks, as if she was just some random girl. Even Mist was able to recognize how awkward it is for a princess to help her packing, which shows just how little awareness Ike has for the importance social class. A very brief moment that nevertheless hints on topics that will get very important later in the story. God, the script in this game is always such a joy to reread. Edit: The next map is going to be an Escape chapter. Since this isn't Thracia and you don't loose any units that don't escape, this isn't much different then Seize. But you do get some Bonus EXP for every character that escapes before Ike.
  12. I think Marcia's appearance only triggers once you move upwards. At least based on Gamexplain's PoR Stream were the player did not move out of the starting area until turn 8. Of course, that was in the American version Normal Mode. I can't say for sure how this would hold true in Maniac Mode since on my run I did try to move upwards as quickly as possible too. But if it is true, then maybe if one waits a turn some of those Axe Users would move down and Marcia wouldn't be at the risk of dying immediately. That initial onslaught on that second map is really intimating. But I think I actually got through it relatively smoothly after deciding to quickly take out those guys in the upper right corner and then make my stand there. The terrain in that corner is a lot more beneficial then it looks, I'd say. Although I did have the benefit of a stronger Titania and an Ike with the Angelic Robe. In case you don't remember, effective damage is only times 2 in this game, even in the Japanese version. So effective weapons usually are not all that great in this game. The Regal Sword is of course an exception since it's neither heavy or inaccurate as the other ones. But even so, it's effective bonus would barely make it stronger then a Silver Sword (14 vs 13). In my case, I held on to it's last charges for the majority of the game, intending to repair it. But once I got the Repair Staff, I was also able to freely buy Silver Swords, so it just wasn't worth it. And you still seem to remember that in addition to zooming you can also spin and re-angle the camera with the C-Stick. You know I really like Fire Emblem with 3D map graphics like this, crude 3D models be damned. That way the action on the map just feels a lot more concrete and real. It helps that units are also pointing towards the direction they are moving instead of always facing downwards. I do like that Archer animation too. Particular the way they keep aiming at his opponent while reloading. This probably makes no practical sense but I do think it looks pretty neat. While we are on the subject of archery, I would like to point out that Tear Ring Saga unlike every Fire Emblem game ever actually had their archers fire at an arc instead of firing in a straight line. Btw, did you take note of how odd it is that Greil would suddenly put Ike in charge after back in the Prolouge he was still very hesitant about letting Ike on the battlefield at all? The subject comes up again later but Greil never gives a concrete answer to it. I do think that certain conclusions that one can draw are intended though. Like, it's probably not a coincidence that Greil made this decision right after learning that Daein came to Crimea. Edit: And I think that you didn't turn the BEXP display back on. When you changed those settings initially, it was in the middle of the chapter. And since you had to restart, those setting weren't saved.
  13. Path of Radiance Maniac Mode. Sweet, I couldn't have hoped for a better pick. On future parts, could you maybe disable that Help Window in the lower right corner of the screen? I think it really takes up a lot of space. Some thinks that I believe are worth noting after this first part: Oscar and Boyd do indeed boast each other if they are on adjutant tiles. You could say that the game essentially uses the SNES support system and the GBA support system together. Unfortunately in addition to only having a range of 1, these kind of supports only increase critical hit. And apparently critical avoid in some rare cases. And unfortunately, with one single exception bosses in Maniac have the same stats then those in Hard Mode. And Hard Mode bosses were already barely any stronger then their regular versions. Activating the Bonus EXP window means that the game will tell you after each map how much Bonus EXP you've earned and for what objectives you got them. I see no reason to keep it disabled. I have no idea what IS was thinking by not only having it disabled by default but also requiring you to actually unlock it first. That way you won't get any feedback for fulfilling bonus objectives. Btw Deltre, how come that you already have the bands and the BEXP options unlocked? I mean, they require you to have played through the game at least once but you say in the above post that you haven't touched the game since 2005/2006.
  14. Easily Gaiden. Every class has something that makes them worth using. Archers have their 3-5 range, Mages are more versatile then they've ever been in later games and the durability of Armored Knights is high enough to actually make more then up for the fact that every single enemy doubles them. Pegasus Knights and especially Falcon Knights are kinda uber but that does seem to be deliberate.
  15. And Radiant Dawn pretty much confirmed that Sigrun was indeed the person that Haar was talking about.
  16. Yeah, the rain isn't very effective at that. I did meet Sidon but I still tried to stay on the hills when possible. Even without ever actually climbing, I ended up being able to get high enough to glide directly into the city. There was no cutscene for this but the Zora King did inform me that Sidon hadn't arrived yet. Unfortunately before I made my way to meet Sidon at the entrance, I fell from the city into the water and had to reenter using the main entrance (There is a ladder but I didn't notice it back then). So I do not know if there is a special cutscene for when you go the entrance from inside the city to trigger Sidon's arrival.
  17. I really love the way the ending is done. Making you walk back across the worldmap slowly, watching everyone one by one leave as they go back to their lives and watching your party shrink. I think this is an ending that strongly connects to you as the player, regardless of anything related to the actual story. And the game actually does remove them from the party. You assumed otherwise but I suppose that just means that the game only removes them after you went to the next tile. I still remember very well how the empty space in the unit list grew larger and larger, so I am very confident about that. There is another little touch about that ending that I absolutely love but you unfortunately missed: If any of your units are still dead by the end of the game, Holmes will actually go back to the top floor of Morse Tower and you will be given the opportunity to use the remaining charges of the Dakroon to revive them before the ending properly starts. It has no practical purpose since it's the end of the game and all, but I think that makes it's existence all the more meaningful. Anyway Deltre, it was a lot of fun watching you play through this game and to listen to your commentary. The run was moving forward at a really enjoyable pace too, with a 1+ hour video every second day the vast majority of the time. So yeah, thanks for this series.
  18. Honestly, it was when it was announced that marriage would be in the game. Because if marriage was in the game, that meant you would be able to marry Camilla. And if IS was okay with letting you marry your siblings, then that would mean that they didn't give a shit about the story and it's supposed themes about family bonds. So by the time I started Conquest, any positive expectations I had for this game's plot were long dead. Still, some of those scenes were nevertheless shocking, to think that they were not actually written with the intent of making the audience hate Corrin. I don't want get into specifics since the OP is still playing through Conquest but let's just say that the game went from cringy to utterly infuriating over time.
  19. That's pretty much how my experience with the doors went too. I definitely would have warned you about that but I didn't expect you to play the rest of the maps in one go. Glad that unlike me you still managed to win. Watching this now I noticed a few hints about the doors being locked from the other side but they are all very minor and easy to miss. Not to mention that hint came two chapters too early in the case of Holmes. And of course the game does have Katarina mention that they will look for another route, so the game is sending mixed signals too. Most important off all: It had never be the case until this point that doors could only get opened from only one side. All in all, this is just really badly communicated. Btw, despite what it may look like this map does not actually count as an indoor map. Once you are past the stairs you are free to use mounts. Edit: And this is in case you want to know what the Black Rain looks like. I suppose it should be noted that the video uses the old patch, so the quality of the script is pretty poor:
  20. I don't see it. He burned thousands of people alive without the slightest hesitation. And as for his self confidence, in front of Wallhart he suddenly starts talking big about "uniting the world". He also thinks that he will be able to easily succeed in Narga's trial. He also vehemently insists that Robin accompanies him, despite the revelation that Validar is able to freely control her. A position he defends just as vehemently against Lucina, despite her coming from a time where Robin did indeed kill Chrom. He is just as insistent that Robin should not sacrifice herself, not even acknowledging his responsibilities as a king. He also never showed the slightest hint of doubt about how he treated Plegia after the war, even after Aversa spelled it out to him that Chrom's actions or lack thereof helped the Grimleal to gain power. Chrom may have moments that in isolation may look like they are part of a character arc but there is no continuity between them. Like, in Chapter 6 he tells Robin that the Plegians "rightfully remembers their suffering". Yet in chapter 11 he is utterly shocked by the realization that the Plegian would "deep down" desire peace, as if he was an Avenger who until this point never considered that the Plegians may be anything but pure evil. Him supposedly trying to live up to the memory of his peace loving sister also never caused him to hesitate in the war against Valm, both in the way he started an invasion of his own and in the cruelty of his methods. And I already mentioned how he suddenly claims towards Wallhart that he would unite the world himself, which came completely out of nowhere and was forgotten immediately after. But I absolutely do agree that Chrom's character isn't overshadowed by Robin. Chrom is inconsistently written but that inconsistency can't actually be traced back to Robin in any way. At least in the first two arcs. The Grima arc is a different matter entirely.
  21. It's upsetting that IS rewrites Gaiden to justify the apathy that Awakening had towards the games that it claimed to be a sequel to. It would have been Awakening's job to give a shit about the series' history. Everything else depends on the execution. But adding an entire new chapter gives me the impression that this is just something that is tagged on for some more Awakening wanking instead of something that compliments the existing story. I mean, this is IS we are talking about, the guys who added child clones of various Awakening characters to Birthright. This is exactly the kind of thoughtless, shallow pandering that they would go for, so I find it hard to give them the benefit of the doubt here.
  22. Oh yeah, this is a labyrinth. We totally didn't forget to put a texture on these tiles or anything. Jokes aside, glad to hear that you are having fun. I think the game has a lot of things about it that are just excellent but there also some pretty grave flaws that I can easily see spoiling the experience for a lot of people. Particular in regards to the interface and those weird control issues. Anyway, I don't think Yuni lowered that bridge with her thieving abilities. She got a Bridge Key from one of those chests, so she probably used that one. Dealing with this army of Dragon Zombies is far easier then you might think. And pretty hilarious as well. Two words: Friendly Fire. Throw someone with a ton of avoid at them and they will torch each other trying to hit their target. They have negative avoid too, so they can't actually dodge each other's attacks. I really love that battle in the ruined city. It's an easy map but it has just such a great aesthetic to it. Anyway Deltre, since the ending isn't all that far off anymore, I wanted to ask if you are also going to take a look into the game's multiplayer mode. I mean, it's not something you can really play through but I'd say that it's pretty interesting nevertheless. It's surprisingly elaborate, completely unlike the various multiplayer modes the Fire Emblem series got over the years. There are a ton of options like which weapons/skills/classes are allowed, how powerful critical hits are or which track you want to use as your player phase theme. There is even an optional rule for the Weapon Triangle.
  23. Hit them with an arrow. Pay attention to the spot where you hit the dragon and after a few seconds you should see something fall slowly to the ground looking like a shooting star. You can only get one part each day and there are several possible parts you can get. The part you get depends on where you hit the dragon.
  24. Vincent already made a news post about this: https://serenesforest.net/2017/03/31/fire-emblem-battle-revolution-surprise-reveal/ So this has to be legit since it's not April 1st for him yet. At least judging by his location which he lists as "UK".
  25. Technically Xyon was a regular Wyvern Knight. Wyvern Lord is a class that is exclusive to Julius. (That's probably what grants him these ridiculous speed and skill caps.) Seems still unlikely that the Wyvern Lord class itself would cause lag. All it does is to use a different sprite for it's dragon.
