  1. Perhaps the role-playing was intended as a result of the NES' limitations. I found it interesting how Kaga intended Ironman to be the way to play. The developers of FE10, in the interview on this site, also intended it to be the way to play. I like how at least some of Kaga's vision remained, even after he left Nintendo.
  2. Based on all the story hype, I imagine he'd be about as powerful as Lv20 Vanguard Ike, with stats around Ike's averages there. Would be nice to see his power be less of an Informed Virtue; they could make a prequel to the Tellius Saga. Don't just TELL us how powerful Greil is, IS! No, those few fights hardly count. Let us feel his strength by being able to play as him, and see his rise to greatness (like we do for the average FE Lord)! Imagine Fire Emblem: Origin of Radiance (I dunno, I'm not good with naming this stuff). That'd be kickass.
  3. Before Conquest came out (and while watching a fantranslated playthrough of it), I expected something like Anyway, as far as RD v. Conquest goes, I'm on the "they're both good games, dont feel guilty for liking one over the other" camp. Despite its story and characterization flaws, I rather enjoyed RD. I'd so buy an HD remake of the Tellius Saga if they ported it to 3DS.
  4. I've not much so say, other than that I like how well-thought several of the responses are. FWIW, the college I'm going to isn't too different from typical public K-12 in this country; everything is still more about memorizing facts than actually learning why it's all useful. Even the programming classes that I went there for were very lackluster. The only real difference is that there are some labs and tutors that make things slightly more bearable. Though it's probably because my college is a public one, despite charging really high tuition fees. Since I actually want to become a competent game programmer, I'm aiming to study abroad in one of the world's top 5 countries after getting my game design degree (though I'm certainly not going to suffer through a system like SK's).
  5. So, I've heard the American public schooling system ragged on a lot for its poor quality (particularly in math), even having seen some articles that try to explain how and why it's flawed (links at the bottom of this post). Though what's always left me confused is why students from, say, Finland (which ranks way higher than the US worldwide on education) would study abroad in America. Besides interest in our culture. I'm no fan of the public school system, myself, but this always left me scratching my head. 6. As an autistic, I can relate to your feelings; people tend to ignore the fact that I'm not all that well-versed in social subtleties, being angry at me even when I try to explain myself. It sucks, but double standards like these are what we have to deal with. I've hope that in the (not-so-near) future, people will be less presumptive and jerkish about impairments like autism and diabetes.
  7. Huh, never heard of that problem before. Though VBA's recording method works fine, too; the only problem with that is the filesize of the recordings, but in today's age, that's not too big an issue. Illiterate Scholar, you could try messaging some FE8 players on youtube to ask to borrow their recordings. SlimKirby is a good one. Though you wouldnt actually need them to send you their recordings; you could just find their videos on youtube, and use the links on one of those websites that let you store youtube videos as files on your comp.
  8. I know how to deal with the recording issue. If you have Windows 10, you can use the built-in Game Bar; click on the emulator window, press Win+G, click the option for "yes, this is a game", and press the recording button. You can change the settings so that it can record up to 2 hours of footage, but make sure you don't alt-tab out of the emu window while recording; otherwise, it'll automatically stop, leaving you with incomplete footage in your Videos folder. Hope this helps.
  9. I agree with pretty much all of it, except the part about good villains. To me, a good villain is one who is at-least-moderately sympathetic, with the philosophy behind their villainy having a good amount of merit. Ashnard only fulfilled the second part of that; he was a one-dimensional and evil warmonger, yes. But at least his philosophy made some sense. Specifically: The main villain of RD was somewhat more sympathetic than Ashnard, and had a valid philosophy. It's just sad These are my two cents.
  10. In other words, it's a lot more expensive to localize games to Europe due to the various languages and cultures? That would make sense, since English is the common language in NA, making localization for that half of America much less of a hassle.
  11. Mimana: Iyar Chronicles. I find (most of) the playable cast charming, and the story is a below-average, yet I still find myself enjoying it. Though I do understand why people would hate it; the gameplay flaws are described well-enough in this review, and it came out with an asking price of fourty dollars. Damn, that's about as bad a deal as buying Ar Tonelico 3 when it was new, and that was $60. I'd probably hate this game, too, if I paid anything near its original asking price.
  12. Tbf, it was also released for Gamecube; no waggle there.
  13. FWIW, I hear SamuraiBuyer's a good way to import amiibo from Japan (without hurting your wallet too much). Dunno if it's actually any good, though; anyone here used SB and got good results?
  14. - You should never trust IS when they promise a good story; they implicitly did the same for RD, so it shouldn't be a surprise that they failed to deliver on Conquest (though I personally somewhat enjoyed RD's story). - Tiki's, Camilla's, and Charlotte's breasts aren't as unrealistically-big as some people say. In fact, Charlotte's are a good deal smaller than they look; they just look big due to her outfit and pose pushing them up. She'd be at most a B-cup if it weren't for that.
  15. My feelings in a nutshell. Artistically, I see the validity of your point. Though I doubt that if they were to remake FE7, they wouldn't let mark marry. These relationship mechanics were a pretty big part of what made Fates and Awakening as popular as they were, considering the new fans they brought in.
  16. I rather like the Atelier series. This page explains what it is way better than I could, so there you go. Though the games keep getting localized in the states, they're even more niche than Fire Emblem was before Awakening. Now, if only Gust would wise up and start porting the series to PC...
  17. Might as well make Tack Yewmie into a trap, too. For originality.
  18. Nohr's rather lacking story is the reason I'm waiting for a sale on Fates. I don't find any route to be worth more than 30$. I don't like being lied to. Sue me. :|
  19. On a hiatus of sorts in terms of improving my art skills. Still drawing stuff for fun, tho!

  20. Thanks for answering my question in that Fates thread :>

  21. I really dislike the Corrin/Hana supports. I know it shows Hana's loyalty to Sakura, but that doesn't make her being a bitch to Corrin any less petty. I mean, seriously! It's like showing your hate for FE13 by tinkling on Kozaki's suit. You can't blame Kozaki for FE13's flaws, and you can't blame Corrin for getting kidnapped by Nohr like he was. I've mixed feelings about some other support chains, but this one rather got to me. :/
  22. Which classes in this game are the least useful, and why?
  23. I think we've had a topic like this a while back. Anyway, for me, I find characters like Hana and (young) Mia to be the cutest, due to their optimism. Even in wartime, people need some levity to reduce the damage from stress. I find characters like Camilla and Linde to be the prettiest, probably because I love their hairstyles. I'd say the same in terms of attractive girls, since you can't have prettiness without attractiveness.
  24. I'd imagine that any main Lord would have a skill that raises the bonuses they get from supports, while reducing damage all allies on the map take. It'd be called Trusted Commander or something, and be an personal skill the Lord doesnt start with. Well, that'd depend on the Lord. You'd expect Lords like Marth or Ephraim to start with it, whereas others have their own personal skills evolve into it at some point. Imagine Ike starting with no personal skill, but getting Trusted Commander when I'd expect characters like Mia to have a skill that lets them take less damage from and deal more damage to male units; Mia did take up a sword because of sexist attitudes towards swordswomen. Confident, intelligent characters like Lute would have a skill that raises their weapon proficiency gain, as well as their Skill.
