IGdood
Hm, I don't really care who you play as. Ae you planning on starting up a new thread for this or will you just use this one?? Just vote for something...break a tie...or whatever I'll be continuing with this thread, unless you guys want me to move it to somewhere new. I'd prefer to keep one thread per game. Oh, yeah! I remember those gits. Hopefully they'll learn to shoot straight, given that they're named after battalions of swordsmen... Wait wait, SWORDsmen? Ohohohoho, there are quite some sword units that I can recruit...... Edited April 17, 2011 by skitarii
General Herpus Derpus
And there's still 2 units of Dragoons who haven't been claimed. 18 rangers in 1 turn? Dang. Cavalry time. Now I have Britain in its last non-island province 2 turns later... Edited April 17, 2011 by The Leech

IGdood
Fuck it. SAINT JOHN WHOEVER THAT IS No fucking idea, but then these guys came from the Knights Hospitaller. ANYWAYS, WE HAVE A WINNER. Knights of St. John it is, thank you everyone. SO. I will play this LP on NORMAL battle difficulty, but I'll up the campaign difficulty to HARD. This way, the AI will at least field better and more numerous armies against me. We saw in the Prussia playthrough just how easy it got in the end. So I will go play now...maybe have an update tonight? By the way, do you guys like the video updates? Are they too laggy, too slow? Should I stick with just screenshots? I need feedback.
Parrhesia
I...honestly prefer the screenshots. They just give more of an...overview of the battle as a whole, and they probably make it easier on you overall. Which, I'm guessing, you'll be needing. Well, since FRAPs just slows it down a lot, screenshots it is then. Thanks for an honest opinion! The Knights of St. John? From the island of Malta, right? I remember those guys from Age of Empire III from Part 1 of the regular campaign... Yeah, those guys. But it's the 1700s now, these Knights of Malta don't exactly use crossbows and armor anymore...they've gone with the times and switched to muskets and pretty uniforms. Uh, the Age of Empires III campaign happens during the late 1700's and early 1800's, actually. And yes, the knights are up to date in there (in fact, the only bows-user units you ever see there are from Native Americans, Crossbowmen, and the British Longbowmen). IGdood
For once in a Total War game, I feel raped and abused. This, is the title screen. Campaign difficulty set to hard, Battle difficulty set to normal. Ah, here we are in beautiful, sunny Malta... With only ONE fucking island. No industrial buildings, no schools for research, and barely enough income. So...here's my starting army. We have a general named Eppolito. Pikemen, great for killing cavalry and tying up enemy infantry in melee... European Militia, a crappy unit. As for now I can recruit these guys... Order Militia Cavalry, light cavalry armed with a pistol and having great stats all around, probably because they have a strong martial background with the knights. Order Cavalry, nobles who are not knights but fight for the order. Their stats are better than the other Western nations' "Regiment of Horse" unit. Militizia D'Ordine, otherwise known as Order Militia. They have an extremely high defense stat for some reason, but their morale is quite poor. Let's upgrade the roads to improve trade.... -sigh- No research getting done for now. Well it looks like nobody hates us too much for now... My king, Ramon I, is a shitty one...with only 2 stars. Can this situation get any worse? I decide to boost my navy in case of an attack, and order these two ships to be built. It's okay to name ships too guys.. Time to move my fleet back to port in case some pirates show up... And indeed they do, before they can do anything I decide to intercept them. NAVAL BATTLE The wind is blowing in quite the favorable direction. We shall wait and see... So these are what the Order's marines look like? hm.. They're coming in, heading to our right... I move my fleet towards their direction, hoping to intercept their 3 ships. As the ships close into range, the cannons open up. Lookie, triangular sails! Time to circle my ships around. I hope to be able to cut up their line, and let my ships use both sides of cannons to full effect. Critical HIT! Clearly we are winning. The enemy admiral's ship then sinks, heheh. And I capture one of these Xebec ships. A turn passes, and it seems they're all at war! Our admiral gains many traits that make him a better leader at sea. Another turn later, some stuff happens... I need money. I decide to demolish my military port and build a trading port to invest in. I decide to scout out the Barbary Pirate's coast, I wonder what troops they have? IGdood
Scouting....nothing powerful to report. We now have roads. Finally building trade port... And already no more income....?! And I land my invasion force at Tunisia. Let's conquer! Battle time, FOR ST. JOHN! Lol, Order Militia look kinda funny with their hats. Enemy consists of rabble. Moving out. They get the first shot. And some of them charge us. But run away a few seconds later. Well that was too easy. Just keep on shooting! Victory! Just kidding, still got 1 more unit of rebels to finish off...WITH a good old fashioned charge. Even the general joins the fray. Lol hilarious kill ratio. Tunis is ours! However, the population there hates me and the buildings need to be repaired... Wtf? Eppolito gains a trait. And I run out of....money? So I scupper a ship....to reduce upkeep. Aka destroy it. Well that gets me out of the red... A new heir? Hope Ramon I dies soon. The populace is so angry... Hm, I can recruit Desert Warriors here...who are even shittier than regular militia. No. Just...no. Yay, now I can trade with other nations who are willing. Uh oh... Well at least this guy picked a good mistress. Apparently being bankrupt pisses everyone off, including Malta. Britain rejects trade with me. The Marathans accept, and so do the Khimean Khanate. Get the money flowing! Another trait for the admiral! Holy fuck WHAT!? Eppolito got assassinated! Damn, being bankrupt has caused some troops to desert me. Fuuuuu! Shit, it's a rebellion! I'm too tired to update anymore for now, I''ll explain why I felt raped and abused after I wake up. IGdood
Hmmm, must've forgotten that detail then. In any case, it's not like the campaign already messes up in some areas of history anyway, but yeah... Like having a monster truck? HAHA! And the rebel army consists of HOLY MOTHER OF ST. JOHN that's a lot of rebels. I disband more of my fleet to get myself out of bankruptcy. The rebels attack, and we are outnumbered. So here we go, I've deployed with trenches. Jeez, look at the enemy swordsmen. Why do they seem so fockin badass? I have my pikes form a square at the right flank. Hopefully they'll attract enough swordsmen. I move my militia up the left flank, since the trenches are not going to protect them much at the angle the Barbary rebels are coming. Annnnd the battle begins. Unfortunately, only 1 unit of swordsmen engaged the pikemen. The other two units went behind them. Militia shooting desert warriors.... I maneuver the other militia at the left flank to see if they could get a better spot. So while that unit of swordsmen get routed by the pikes, two more crash into my militia.... I try to get my pikemen to save the day. Their desert warriors then also charged my already engaged militia from the back/front.....surrounding them... Things were going okay until the captain died. Then things just went to the shit. We have been defeated. All forces are lost. Now if only I had some Katana Samurai.... Tunis is lost! And the people of Malta are as angry as ever. It did not help that the people in government then developed traits that pissed off the loewr classes. So I kick out the guy who managed justice, and hope that someone better will come along. I was wrong...mostly. Things got so bad that a revolution occurred on the island of Malta. I sided with the government, and suddenly I found myself with 5 units of Order Militia. Brother fighting brother, knight fighting knight... Ah, reinforcements. I move my reinforcements in a rather orderly fashion to the enemy. Bah, revolutionaries. We shall crush them. Incoming cavalry! I'm sure my men can hold them off. Except they whip out pistols and shoot a lot of my militia men. Come now! We must save our comrades! Why are those revolutionary cavalry not dying!? Well, finally they die. I also lost my captain already. Engaging their infantry! Traitor scum! Ah, conscripts, the shittiest unit in the game. Well not the shittiest, but they're around there. They quickly fall to my guns. The Order Cavalry get within range. I order all guns to fire on them. Cannot let them charge!
IGdood
What was left of them charged us, but we beat them back. The rebels begin to run, and I order to charge! The knights will remain governed by a monarch, not a republic! Run like a whipped dog, bastards! Crisis averted, back to Tunisia for Round 2. For defeating a revolution, someone gains the trait of harsh reputation. Oh are you FUCKING kidding me? Stay tuned.....will there be Round 3? Will we finally be able to conquer Tunisia? Acacia Sgt
Woah, that sure was a violent start to the campaign. I don't suppose it's a good time to claim a division of Order Militia Cavalry then...? XD But if so, call them 'Termina Division' then. IGdood
Previously, the Barbary pirates were about to sally out. In case I am defeated, at least I'll die in my uniform. Did not expect this weather from North Africa. it's snowing. Move forward. Cavalry to the flank. Avenge our fallen Order members! ATTACK! Surprise, bitches! Hit and run! Fuck your swords, eat musket butt! Situation: Normal Dahomey Amazons, curse them and their longer-ranged weapons. They run! Kill! Cavalry, reload those damn pistols! Brutal melee. Suddenly ambush! Damn Amazons and their ability to hide whilst walking. Militia Cavalry take hits. Retreat! Don't you dare run, men! PUSH ON! Retreating my cavalry due to losing their momentum, but now they can chase down routers! Victory. What?! Found a new trade partner in the form of Genoa. Still not surrendering, eh? A few reinforcements from Malta. Woah, that sure was a violent start to the campaign. I don't suppose it's a good time to claim a division of Order Militia Cavalry then...? XD But if so, call them 'Termina Division' then. By order of the Grandmaster of the Knights of St. John, I hereby name this unit of Order Militia Cavalry the Termina Division. May they deal death with steel and shot. Upgraded the infrastructure back at Malta. The remnant attempt to sally out again. Nice sunset. I'd like to see them walk into this. Which they do, and get shot. Termina Division prepares for a surprise attack. They cannot hope to win. BAM Cut 'em all down! I wonder if that officer is Acacia himself. IGdood
Barbaries crushed! I make sure named units get more kills. Fuck you, no peace. Tunis is ours, but can we hold it? Here comes trouble... Huh, Sweden's got a province? Building constructed on Malta. Bring it on, rebels. I'll crush you this time! Whoa what the, it's Prussia. The rebels raid our lands! I have to hold the region until the lower classes aren't so pissed anymore. ALRIGHT LETS DO THIS One group of militia is in the building there. These rebels look kinda dangerous... HOLD THE LINE! This is not the termina division. Flank attack bitches Here I pulled my cavalry back and I wanted to charge the enemy, but thought that it wouldn't be wise....so I didn't charge. Militia shooting out the windows. Alright, let's wheel around and hit them in the side. Over the top! I just noticed all the enemy swordsmen had entered the building to try and clear it out. Take this, Barbary Janissaries. That is the Termina Division. Har har, they are losing. Terminians, charge! Shoot those lancers! Pursue them! We beat them back! Some new retainers for our government ministers....can you guys read the text? Perhaps after building this the rebels will shut the fuck up. What is up with my ministers gaining traits/retainers that piss off the lower classes? A second rebellion...and none of my units have fully replenished! (no money) Here we go again... Rewjeo
Maybe you should have helped the revolution... Because it seems to me that every trait/retainer you get just makes it harder for you. With a new gov't, maybe you'd actually be able to keep people happy.
