And then there's the Gathering of Heroes scenario that is just completely randomized... meaning you could end up with, I dunno, Guan Yinping ruling a nation with Dong Zhuo as her Strategist or something wacky like that. Although if you have created character appearances enabled for the regular scenarios, there is a lot of weird stuff that can happen there, too. In an old save, where I had lots and lots of created characters, Neptune (yes, that one), ended up being Marshal of Wei. Honestly, Dark Empire is worse in my eyes because A. Palpatine comes back multiple times instead of just once B. Overpowered God Luke Skywalker but that's more of a problem that plauges post-ROTJ Legends. Rise of Skywalker is more sensible at least, which admittedly isn't saying much. Both are bad in the end.
