I remember in Stay Night, they said the only reason Saber remembers the past Grail War (i.e. Fate/Zero) is because the summoning was botched, and that Servants normally aren't supposed to remember anything when they're summoned again (could be wrong, of course).

actually, the reason why Saber remembers the past Grail wars isn't because of botched summoning, but because she's still alive and made a deal with Alaya, and not a spirit in the Throne of Heroes.

Ah, that was it! Okay. Then I remembered the reason wrong.

I need to finish the other Routes of Tsukihime someday. I only did Arc's route xD

But the VN is just much harder to read than FSN. Not to mention we were promised a Remake like a decade ago...

but FGO happened lol

So... as it turns out, crazy dude with white hair is actually none other than Count Dracula. As in, Vlad III, a.k.a. Vlad the Imapler.

Spoiler

xVERG5q.png

How... fitting... that he would be the Servant of a deranged, cannibalistic clown girl...

Looks quite different from Apocrypha eh?

Yep.
Even their personalities are like day and night, so I really didn't expect this.

EDIT:
So... Archer just confirmed it for me.
He said: "Our opponent this time is more Bram Stoker's Dracula than the historical Vlad III".
Meaning the Dracula in Extra is based on the fictional version, while his Apocrypha incarnation is the historical one.

One of the complaints of the previous two games wasn't neccisarily "there's no EXP", it was "the game gives you too much free shit for battles to mean anything". I can't say that really applies to Origami King. Cause you can have EXP and still have combat be pointless. See: Final Fantasy 8, where everything scales with your levels.

Combat isnt pointless in FF8, not if you know what your doing that is. Easy draws, easy mugging, alot of stuff is given to you for precisely that reason.

F indeed.

Ch.17 is when the Superbosses appear. If you ever wanna take them on at some point, here's the info:

  • Final Marcus: Lv.100, Three-Sage Summit, Valak Mountain only at night. This one actually shows up earlier than Ch.17 and considering it's only one level above the player level cap, it's classification as a Superboss is debatable but for simplicitiy's sake, people still refer to it as one. Has close range Spike damage.
  • Ancient Daedala: Lv.105, Wreckage Beach, Fallen Arm. Has very long 360 AoE sight making it impossible to sneak up on.
  • Despotic Arsene: Lv.108, north of Glowing Obelisk in Satorl Marsh (near the path to the Nopon hideout). Will use Haste a lot on itself.
  • Blizzard Belgazas: Lv.114, Great Glacier, Valak Mountain. Has Topple Spike. Do not fight this thing during a blizzard unless you wish to have a bad time.
  • Avalanche Abaasy: Lv.120, Three-Sage Summit, Valak Mountain only when it's a blizzard at night time. Has Instant-Death Spike (the only enemy in the whole game to have this). Divine Protect or Debuff Resist Gems required for this fight. Preferbly 100%.
    • If you're fighting Final Marcus and a blizzard happens, Abaasy will fuck you up.

You will need to stack up on Agility and Night Vision gems for any of these not named Final Marcus.

The main criticism i hear of FF8's combat is that everything scales with your level so you never actually get stronger.

Not quite. Enemies only have three levels of scaling. They only get stronger every ten levels, then from thirty to ninety-nine it's the same.

This is because what makes you stronger is the junction system. Even enemies at their strongest won't be too much of a problem if you junction powerful spells and the max number of them to your stats. I could be wrong here, they do level up but whether they actually get that much stronger...

That said, it's still important to keep enemy levels low since otherwise certain draws and drops become harder to obtain when monsters become stronger. As such it's usually encourage to turn them into cards to avoid getting EXP. This is better than simply avoiding battles since you have to fight enemies otherwise your SeeD Ranking drops, and thus the amount of gil you receive at every pay time.

Getting stronger mostly depends on junction and whether or not you have abilities like Str bonus etc, equipped.

Drawing isn't harder because an enemies level is high, the formula for it takes user level and magic stat into the equation, + the natural resistance the magic has to being drawn.

Here is an example from an FFVIII guide on monsters: Spoilers for length.

As you can see, this Behemoth's stats do indeed raise based on level.

You can also see it's drops and mugs change based on level as well, so higher level = better steals.

It's not that it becomes harder, it's that what you get changes. In some cases, some things stop being available.

To use the Behemoth example, look how it stops dropping Wizard Stones after it turns level 30. Wizard Stones are very versatile since you can refine them into a multiple number of objects and high-level spells. This is important since you can't junction the same spell to two different stats. So it's actually a loss to level the Behemoth to the point it stops dropping the Wizard Stones.

The flip side is that other monsters do drop Wizard Stones at higher levels, so the item isn't lost.

But still, one thing to keep in mind is when each item is available due to enemy levels. Can make getting specific ones easier or harder.

Well, if you want him to be below level 30, you just cast level down to divide his level by 1/2.

Or the opposite with the level up ability.
