Oh, looks like that issue with Sierra is due to the Unofficial Patch. Was already brought up, and the response is that it will be fixed for next version. Well, guess I can afford to wait then. Hopefully I can just finish it by updating the mod, instead of being those "must start over the game" sort of fix. Then again, the quest can be reset through console...

Also, I had forgotten how pathetic the "time limit" in this map is. One extremely weak archer that is easily lured away from Mathilda. Oof. Still, tough map. Tougher than the ones before, for sure.

This was most certainly a much bigger war of attrition in the original game.
I recall needing to send Silk towards the purple tile all the way in the East, because she simply run out of HP to cast Heal with.

Ooooooooh myyyyyyyyyyy Goooooooooooood the stupid desert archer fort map.

This is the most annoying shit ever.

More annoying compared to the original game too.

I mean, where to start? Archers and Snipers were limited to only 1-2 range with the default weapon, and the only enemies with special equipment were the ones who would actually drop it after death. So all those guys went from max 2 range to max 3-4 range, making it extremely easy for them to just gang up on targets.

Most of them also have effective damage against fliers now.

Half an hour of it before I wanted nothing more to do with it, I believe, which really shouldn't be surprising coming from me. Then I read a full screenshot LP of it and its sequel where the guy spent the entire time furiously shitting all over the games.

He hated Kraden something fierce. It was a fun read, or at least it seemed so at the time, when I was still a teen who loved this sort of "crapping all over media" content. Nowadays I'm not as much of a fun, however.

I must say, I find it rather funny how they took Gaiden, already the game with possibly the iffiest treatment of its women in the series, and made it worse by making all the new female characters have "I'm in love with that man even though I shouldn't be!" as their entire character, adding a whole bunch of pointless damsel-in-distress moments with the female protagonist just so Conrad can come to her rescue and... Well, this image.

Seriously, Mathilda's design makes me so sad. She could've been the coolest female paladin in the series, but then they gave her those idiotic high heels and the huge boob opening and ruined it. Not that it's a horrible design, I mean, this is Echoes, the land of godly designs. But it cannot hold a candle to the likes of Titania. Who... also has high heels, but they're less pronounced at least.

To be fair, I kinda broke the encounter by having Shade and her physic spell around. It very much was still a war of attrition, with the stupid tight chokepoint and Desaix tossing insanely powerful javelins.

No defense for this, though. The map does seem like it'd work way better with 1-2 range archers. As it is in Echoes, the archers cover so much ground that you straight up cannot walk into the fort unless your name is Valbar.

Anyhow, Tobin comes back to the fold as a mage because it felt silly to bench only one person and I want Kliff to have a support partner. I didn't want to make him a merc because I am an extremely stubborn person. While I grinded him back to speed, Forsyth Forsythed his way to a promotion. Now he's a baron. I love that model, seriously, it looks so majestic.

Plot-twist: Kaga secretly infiltrated IntSys during the game's development. "Gotta make sure the remake of one of my games has all my fetishes".

Hahahaha... Okay that's hilarious, but... not really. Kaga's fetishes are very specific and very blatant. Girls in chains, girls in mind-control. What IntSys added was a much more vanilla type of shitty treatment of women. Knights in shining armor coming to the rescue of the helpless lady, abusive relationships and the like.

She is an interesting one, for sure.
She does get drowned out a little by the other characters, sadly, but what is there of her and what is hinted at is really intriguing. Would've liked to learn more about her, and why she became the way she did.
All we really know is that she basically thought she couldn't feel anything, meaning she could be considered basically dead, by her logic. But then she accidentally got cut, and felt it, and in her own words that was the moment she felt alive for the first time.

The real kicker are some of the endings for the women in this game.
I won't spoil anything, but man, some of those really did not do the characters involved justice.
I consider myself a fan of Echoes as a whole, but many of the endings for the female characters, I really did not like at all.

Counterpoint 2: Kaga still wrote the original script back in 92. So all of the damsel in distress stuff was already there.

Good to know. I imagine you take it with something else, since drinking the vas-tasting stuff without any good might make it harder to swallow.

But at least it's a drink and not pills. I physically cannot take pills unless they are crushed.
