Saint Rubenio
Well, I just lost like an hour of my life because I forgot to change this one dude's spells after giving him a dark grimoire to train with. He ran out of spells, became useless and I ended up exactly one unit attack's worth of damage away from being able to survive. This is what I get for trying to get creative with my units. If I'd just kept everyone the way they were, this wouldn't have happened.

Interdimensional Observer
@Armagon I see Rune Factory 3 Special reviews are starting to pour in. 7~8 scores, not enough new "Special"ness, hasn't aged perfectly (expected), and the translation has apparently been redone, losing maybe some of the old zing. Sounds like it was intended a stopgap injection of revenue for Marvelous while it takes its time with the new games.
Saint Rubenio
The Eidolons remain lost, but I have found one thing: Horses. I like how this game handles those. They are independent from classes - in fact, everyone can use horses. No training required, either. You just plop a horse on someone and that's it. It lowers your chance to guard and pierce enemy guard, but it's a small price to pay. Of course, the problem here is that horses are limited. In fact, I only have one. If I'd bought the game early I could've gotten a pretty white horse, but I didn't, which is probably for the best, one extra horse sounds like a big advantage. ...Also, ths one guy called Hector appeared in camp. I haven't the faintest idea what his deal is. He doesn't have an entry in the codex, he didn't introduce himself, Eden knew his name for some reason and his conversations have been thoroughly puzzling. I don't get it. I hope the game explains at some point.

Interdimensional Observer
Spiced cookies & wine to treat melancholy, as prescribed by a nun. Dually ironic for me, and for this to drop on today of all days.🤣 And informative as always, a simple delight I'm grateful for.  22 minutes ago, Acacia Sgt said: Hmm, that is concerning. Didn't they stated they could also remaster the first two games depending on how 3S did? Maybe, I forget. But there is a gulf between 1-2 and 3, I would personally say. Specifically in combat and crafting, and characters when we're talking RF1. I can't see 2 and especially 1 being given an upscaling, retranslation, some Newlywed bonus dialogue, some cameo costumes, and calling it a day, might as well put them before a review firing squad then. The eldest two RFs need to be remade from the ground up, with more scenes/dialogue for everyone, enhanced crafting, and more fluid combat. Marvelous would be foolish to attempt otherwise, IMO. Frontier and ToD... I'd say combat is still too stiff in Frontier and character events too few, it's close enough to my 1&2 concerns. Tides of Destiny ought to almost as viable as RF3 for a simple Special port, though a little less for a variety of reasons I could name (and the ocean is too big/empty/a time-waster to cross). Still, 7s and 8s aren't bad for RF3S itself. That's fine/typical for a budget Japanese (A or S)RPG game, and RF is ultimately a small dog franchise in the Japanese-styled role-playing-game landscape. I don't have a problem with how it has scored. RF4 might've given RF a modicum of notoriety, but it'll need Project Dragon or RF6 for a True Breakout, particularly after RF5's critical reception was very lukewarm/bad. ping
As incentive for @Saint Rubenio to replay DA:O. I don't even like Wynne all that much, but you have to appreciate that you can put the old frail mage lady into heavy armour and have that be an actual build. Sadly, I must inform you that the "Most powerful foe slain" entry is a lie, as it only refers to Leliana's Evil Twin that you face in the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, so I can't entice you with another opportunity to be hilariously evil - as far as I know, Leliana only turns on you if you salt the ashes, which is also the one thing that Wynne would also attack you for, so it's not possible to have the real Wynne and Leliana fight each other. ...actually, I think I remembe that a hardened Leliana can be kept in your party in that scenario, so it would be possible to do party-internal murder in the opposite direction. Saint Rubenio
Un fucking believable. All out of undoes, I scrunge up a desperate strat that might just allow me to live by the skin of my teeth. The boss gets a crit. Fuck this game's mages. It's fucking unreal how much of an issue they are despite getting one-shot by bows under the right circumstances. 24 minutes ago, gnip said: As incentive for @Saint Rubenio to replay DA:O. Ironically, this was bad for her, because it forced her to split her forces. 10 chapters in now. So far, the game has map design that is... good? Yeah, I'm enjoying the maps. They're pretty nice, varied in subtle ways, no complaints so far. Now there's a failure to capture the spirit of Three Houses if I ever saw one. Thank the Eidolons, wherever they are. Saint Rubenio
Oh God, actually, it gets worse than the chest. I hadn't realized the rare items shop has multiple tabs. I've been missing like, 80% of her selection both times she's visited. Goddammit. She sells gifts. I need gifts to convince camp visitors to let me conscript them into my army. No wonder that boring mage guy came and went, seemingly too quickly for me to be able to recruit him... Not that I particularly wanted him, but I better keep this in mind. I did manage to pick up this blind shaman girl, though. Will promptly give her a sword and shield and wish her good luck. Anyway, war crimes have been committed. Now it's getting interesting. Saint Rubenio
I think so far my favorite enviromental interaction in Lost Eidolons has to do with water and ice. If a unit steps on a wet tile, they become drenched. This is a minor debuff, but if a mage then casts an ice spell on you, you become frozen and unable to act entirely. It's about as powerful as it sounds, especially since there are water spells that can drench tiles at will. I almost used this to great effect against the last boss. Almost. She had a priest to restore her, the fuck. On the other hand, I've noticed it does a funny thing with the AI where they begin to ignore frozen units, since they've been effectively neutralized. Except, I can just use my healer to restore them on my turn, and for the rest of EP they're safe. Which is great, units die super easily in this game. Heck, I can't even trust heavily armored folks to tank, because axes cut through heavy armor like butter. Good game, so far. I can't believe it's already been 13 hours. 55 minutes ago, Newtype06 said: Wouldn't that make Forde and Kyle like, super old though? 55 minutes ago, Newtype06 said: *gasp* I can't believe I didn't immediately think of the guy whose main thing is he's named six. That only looks like a 4-5 year difference at best, 7-8... maybe only a 10 year difference at the worst. Those two always gave me the vibe they're in their mid 20's. Think Oscar and Boyd age difference. Edited September 5, 2023 by Acacia Sgt
Interdimensional Observer
First formal dating events have unlocked I see. ... (Just me sparing those who don't want to see the rest of the abbreviated details.🙂) Spoiler Started with Darius being forced along, which didn't feel great b/c consent is the real sexy. Point deducted for lack of shirtless portraits, but things got nice in the middle, including some not-inherently-horny "scars are a hero's pride" talk and apparently Demon Lords can't get scarred. Tossed in a CG with talk of post-bath beverages before the everyone-happy conclusion unfortunately, the gallery suggests future dates with Darius won't have more pics. Length of the entire event felt pretty substantial too, more than an unsatisfying three-sentence/minute chat. Did my now-OLD! soul well.😊 I can't regret picking this up after that. Whether or not I should feel spiritual sustenance from dating pixel teenagers at my age is a separate matter.  25 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I think so far my favorite enviromental interaction in Lost Eidolons has to do with water and ice.
