Same here for the midterms. Internet and polls predicted a "red wave". Instead, Republicans only barely took the House, couldn't get the Senate and the only one who actually did well was DeSantis (cause Florida Dems suck ass, I hate it here). The reason? Gen Z told Republicans to fuck off, which is why you got a bunch of them now whining and yelling that the voting age should be increased (they can't, it's a Constitutional right).

Don't really mean to wade into this discussion, but from what I heard once or twice from journalists, if you enter the US armed forces, you do end up losing some free speech/legal rights or something. 

As for regulation, strict codes of discipline in the military have been attempted for a long time. Basically nothing not expressly allowed is permissible for a soldier to unless given explicit permission, "being treated like a child" some have described it as. It seems like those darlings of modern the conspiracy theories the Knights Templar had such strict codes of conduct 900 years ago. Disciplinary efforts that endure in the modern US Marines.

Yeah, though a week has passed now, a few sites I visit daily still haven't posted reviews of the game. I get other big releases have happened and BKHD is two full-length JRPGs, but something has felt fishy.

Shame Namco was so cold. Hopes of XS HD Remaster are now extra dead because they let BKHD die.

I'm actually very unfamiliar how Australia and New Zealand are doing admittedly but I do know that most of their land is not habitable (Australia being 90% desert and New Zealand is a very mountainous island).

I read in like a human geography class once that Australia does have its own immigration issues. Although it is Chinese and Southeast Asians for them, not Africans or Latinos ala Europe and America.

There are also environmentalists who supposedly genuinely believe that Australia's fragile ecosystems are at their maximum human civilization-sustaining capacities, beyond which nature shall suffer. -But they run into the issue of having their concerns taken advantage of by/getting lumped in with the xenophobes.

New Zealand probably has similar immigration inflows being right next door to Australia. IDK on the environment.

Blue Moon has bifurcated the Black Hole occupation. Now, the COs feel comfortable enough to travel over sea to the location of the enemy laboratory.

The Lab missions are the dullest things in AW2 narratively, it's just the heroes going to an enemy secret lab to steal the blueprints every time. Neotanks aren't really needed in the campaign either. But ofc I'm going to do every battle here.

I get to choose who I want for this. Unfortunately, I don't get to see the map first. That's annoying, but faithful to the old games. I pick Colin on instinct, forgetting exactly what this map calls for.

A time limit before instant loss, as with all lab battles.

Victory.

...What? I didn't take that many screenshots here it turns out. 

Lash's facilities are to the west, the Lab to the east. Lash starts with two Medium Tanks and one Rocket defending the Lab, but that is it. Find a way to dispatch those Mid Tank & Rocket guards, and capture before she can react. And by "a way", I mean one tank and three of the four Missile Silos, all easily with the heroes' reach. Those two cities adjacent to the Lab being neutral and the Lab itself not providing repair services leaves the tiny defense force crippled without nearby relief.

Yeah, this map isn't for Grit. He would be excellent for choking the western mountain range & pass, but there isn't time for that, and you have no need to do so.

The AI unfortunately doesn't realize the need to defend the lab above all else, so it ends up being quite easy. Taking the airport and spamming reachable Infantry may have drawn her attention south instead of east where it should've been.

Meanwhile, Gold Comet's secured south provided the enough security for its COs to venture to the far north to claim the Black Hole laboratory there.

Why insult Sensei's vision?

I picked Kanbei first, but then I saw the map. This is better suited for Sensei, plus the pricier units could stand to hurt Kanbei here with the time limit despite the abundance of starting properties. No fog, so no Sonja.

Hello Sami!

As you see, Sami shows up with a small fleet of three Battleships and one Cruiser. She'll weed out some land units, and the Cruiser is there to protect against the enemy Bomber and B Copter. She doesn't have to worry about the enemy Submarines. Prior to Days of Ruin, naval units couldn't cross Bridge terrain, Sami is trapped where she is, but so too is she kept safe.

Black Hole has a large starting army, but no deployment facilities, the two infantry they begin with would rather seize cities than the neutral port and airport. But then, all they need is time and they'll win.

The strategy here is to start by capturing a bunch of properties, have Sami shell some stuff, take out the B Copter and Bomber, and then assemble an air force that can protect T Copter for seizing the lab. No need to build a navy, it'll be stuck having to deal with the subs, and it's too expensive, air power is all that's required here.

In AW1 and 2, Cruisers had thin armor against air units, which is downright laughable vs. Sensei. Dual Strike later gave Cruisers greater anti-air durability, and DoR made Cruisers perhaps too deadly and durable against the skies. 

Darned, I intended to have Adder take the bait on a Sidewinder and destroy the injured B Copter with an Anti-Air, drawing it away from the lab, but nope, the AI just hunkers down around it. And so I amass copters and bombers over unreachable sea.

The Rocket kept me from dropping the Infantry, delaying things a turn. As did not building another bomber b/c I thought it superfluous even though I had the funds. Had I, I could've shaved off a turn winning by rout.

Victory on Day 14, I had Sami's battleship just barely sink the last sub.

...How is my Power so low? ...Oh, I get it. *Reloads and waits another turn to give Sensei the final blow.*

Fixed. The Power and Technique scores were determined by who dealt the winning action. Surprised I still got 100 Speed despite only Days left on the clock.

Time for Blue Moon to address this odd bit of territory between secured regions.

You know what this means.😐

The objective is simple, survive for two weeks. Lash has a far greater economy, hold the two-tile chokepoint and keep pushing her back there. 14 days will feel short at first, but as things go on, it'll slow down for sure.

Thankfully, the first couple days has Lash build foot soldiers and move things toward you. The first four-five days are combat-free.

Situation late into the map. Lots of dangerous enemies.

Lowest point for me.

I actually manage to push outward on the second-to-last turn.

But Lash springs back on the final turn. Not that she could've taken me out on it.

Even when fighting the boring enemy, Lash still signs out on a cheery note.

My first actual A rank for Black Hole Rising. Mech spam wasn't the smartest idea after all😅, do I replay this later and see how to fix this 3-point problem? Eh, it's not going to matter for the final campaign ranking, since it averages all the previous ranks (judging from AW1's final ranking), almost all of which are perfect 300 S ranks. I have room to cushion a few failing grades.

I'm going to hit the 9999 point cap again soon, will spend for Colin then.

Back to Gold Comet, to the spat of land pincered between the island liberated by Sensei and the southern province taken back by Sonja.

I love the name of this mission.

If Lash moves any unit onto Sonja's HQ, it doesn't have to be a foot soldier, Sonja loses.

This map resembles Grit's first, pre-deployed with Fog of War. And Sonja has naught but three Tanks and a Rocket able to directly defend her HQ against Lash's 31-units army. Across mountain ranges with no openings at all, Sonja has Recons, APCs, Mechs (for mountain vision and maybe a cautious attack over the mountains), and a ton of Artillery and Rockets, these are what shall save her. Demolish the enemy as it marches north so that the minimal defense has little to worry about. On paper, quite the dangerous mission.

When sniping Lash, pick your priorities carefully if multiple targets are in range. 

• The 2 Neotanks and huge horde of Medium Tanks are the top priority. If these get to the HQ, they'll demolish the defending tank trio no problem.
  • It's better to badly injure many than destroy fewer if given the option, I would say.
• The handful of light Tanks are the second priority. These can go toe to toe with Sonja's equivalents.
• Lash's foot soldiers and indirect combat units are situational targets.
  • If the footies try to cross the mountains and injure your indirects, shoot them. If they try to capture any properties, crippling them can greatly slow Lash's captures, thereby reducing the number of spots her injured units can heal up.
  • Take out the enemy indirects if they presently stand a chance of harming one of your indirects.
• Recons have big Vision range, which for Re-Boot (but not GBA b/c the AI cheats in FoW there) means taking them out removes Lash's big eyes in the darkness. -But Recons can't hurt Tanks, so ignore them otherwise.
• Anti-Air have only 2 Vision and again are harmless against healthy Tanks, ignore them.
• The APCs Lash has are absolutely harmless, and thus nonthreats.

Takes until Day 11 to shoot down the fleeing APC, but that's it.

Lash never got close to the HQ, lovely. -But reminder that a harder difficulty has yet to be unlocked.😉

-The fact I posted pretty much all of the Sonja & Lash exchanges here, should indicate that irony aside, I like this mission's dialogue. The one-on-one intense confrontation is good stuff for this writing-lite game.

It helps that this map was genuine fun to me. Tense in hypothesis, if rather easy in practice. I felt the joy of war as a game.
