I remember when i first time played that map, I was black Eagles and controlling mid, then Golden Deers started tearing into Blue Lions and got High Morale and +2 to all their stats, which made me panic, since the map also has the side objective of defeating more enemies than the other factions, and there was that one chest i had to reach for some good loot.

And then when i played as Golden Deers in Madening, Black Eagles got Double Morale boost (+4 all stats) while tearing through Blue Lions. Poor Blue Lions always getting destroyed

Me was like:

tenor.gif?itemid=14026454

Infact that was me quite a bit in 3H except with Blue Lions when i saw how 90% of my units got oneshotted. On hard.

The post-time skip version of that map is one of my favorites in the entire game, not gonna lie.
It's a fun fight!

On a related note, one thing I really respect about FE (I don't think I've said it in this thread) is how each game is its own unique experience. It is not a stale series, and even though I don't like some of the games, the fact that they're all different experiences in their own way is really cool. There's a FE for everyone, so to speak. It's a great thing about the series... Though I suppose it's also why the fanbase is so divided, isn't it?

I agree with you wholeheartedly on this.

Although sometimes I question my... I guess you could call it sanity when I see how much mine and other people's opinions on FE don't align whatsoever (particularly about FE4, FE5, the GBA ones, and Conquest). xD

Still feel like crap, so I haven't played anything today, but it's a little bit better now, at least.

Don't know much yet. My dad only got the message earlier this morning.

The worst part is that now another aunt and my grandmother have to test themselves.

Do take care of yourself and hopefully she recovers from this.

I don't know what it is about the GBA games, but I always find them super boring and uninteresting. I've still never managed to finish FE7 - I always get bored by Dragon's Gate 1.

Also, what would you say is your favorite map in Berwick?

That's basically how I feel about (most of) the games I listed there. xD

And on the flipside, I really enjoyed Echoes and Shadow Dragon.
And you (probably) know how Celica is one of my favorite characters in FE period.
And then I saw how all of those are kinda... not liked at all, generally. xD

About GBA games, I find them to be kinda meh, overall. There's not enough interesting stuff to justify the at times subpar (to me) gameplay, particularly in the characters and story department, neither of the three did it for me.

Me about FE4, where I got bored by the Prologue.
So bored, in fact, that I put the game down and said "well, nope! You're never playing this again!"

And to end today's spree of me posting tracks of iconic moments...

Conquest. My introduction to FE, and the only game i ever completely replayed, and the one game i did a no reset run of. That's how much i enjoyed Conquest.

It may have the worst story every written, some of the worst cast of character i ever saw...

Yet it's the magnum opus of Fire Emblem gameplay, and nothing came quite close in my opinion

And this track symbolizes just that. The final 3 Maps before reaching the Enemy Capital.

Testing everything you learned during your journey and turning your mind to mush

Strong enemies, Superb Placement, Cool gimmicks, Split Deployment, Bosses with Map wide Effects that you can counter with your own map wide effects, Enemy with Status staves you have to think around, dangerous skills everywhere, and more.

It takes all your mind to just complete these maps. And then there's Ryoma's map lol

Conquest, from pure gameplay prespective, is Top3 games i ever played!

Hmm, since Final map would be too easy....

Either Ch3, Ch12, Ch12-2 or Ch14.

Chapter 3, even though it was an escort mission, had you splitting your army in 3 and alot of stuff to do on the map and keeping track of everything. If i have one thing against the map, it's Esteban appearing very late

Ch12 was quite a cool seize map with dangerous enemies and a guest unit you control + split path

Ch12-2 had the cool gimmick of the all range enemy + fog, forcing the player to play aggresive so your units don't get spotted by enemy units and getting picked off by Wormwood. It encourages aggressive playstyle and i love it when maps do that.

Ch14 is just the game sitting fire on your ass and quite a difficult one, that coupled with gameplay story integration and encouraging fast gameplay, made it quite memorable

Edit: Ch13 is one of the best Def maps i ever played as well, although was not a fan of the Black Rider spam at the end

Gronder is legit a highlight of 3H regardless of which time you're on about imo.

I consider pre-timeskip Gronder a great map and possible best in 3H, the fact you can't use faculty means you really have to use what you've got if haven't recruited out of house, story wise it's honestly a nice breather before we start to go down the rollercoaster, post timeskip has sheer drama, best track, is an absolute terror in Maddening because of the lords, shame about the ambush spawns.

I have been having this issue for the last while actually, I haven't gone back to them at all in years. Although 2020 was the year of 3H for me regardless and before that I had the Tellius games for a similar amount of time it turns out.

I started with BS and SS and while I had a lot of fun in the past, I think a lot of my unwillingness to go back is the simplification that goes on with this era and these two in particular. Rescue seems to be the biggest thing these titles did and it ends up being mainly for speeding up chapters sadly. BB might be harder, but I don't really feel in favour of it either for other reasons.

From my talking with some people here and there, it's the games being simple why some like them.

Maybe it didn't do it for me because i played the more complex titles first?

Although being simple is like, one of many many problems i detailed in an earlier big post a couple weeks back.

It was the biggest barrier for my clearing in Maddening aside from Dimitri (Who I had to crit).

tfw you didn't like Gronder. Oh well... It was pretty okay considering that it was a rout map, though.

I think that my favorite map in TH has been Lorenz' paralogue. That one was amazing. I wish more of the maps were like that one...

Uh, I think that's probably one of Awakening's weakest maps, but I haven't played it in a while, so I might be forgetting.

If i have to guess, unit rescuing another hmmm

Which one did you mean? xD

@Dayni

I was referring to how the one thing that GBAFE made particularly important was being able to rescue allies with less con than the unit's aid.

True that Thracia was first, but I don't find it as significant for rescuing allies there.

Is it because you can easily warp in? 😛

tbh this was the map that made me start to warpskip everything else because it made me depressed that there was this one good map... Seriously though, One-turning the Ailel Ambush was kind of sad.

Also, I did this with no grinding, rallies, debuffs or statboosters:

FE16 has high enemy quality confirmed.

So wait, you're pulling off a Lysithea with this much Str naturally how?

(I ask because I do not have the numbers.)

Well, to be fair, almost all FE games focus on high enemy quantity over quality anyway. There may be exceptions, but they aren't among the FE games I've played, Radiant Dawn included.

*Sees Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is on sale for $34.99. Has almost $40 on my account.*

Do I?

I'm leaning not, I'm don't think the sale is big enough to make the buy hesitation-free. This is at its core a mostly visual update of a 1999 game, the reviewers have said it's fairly simple by modern SoS standards. However, I admittedly fell out of the franchise not much further into its maturation. More than the farming, I'm concerned I won't actually like its characters, I know them from seeing them in my youth, but I admit to actually knowing very little about them. The child is lost in imagination and in being so, does not actually read things. Will, stripped of the blurriness of how a child experiences things, I like these people? I haven't a clue.😟

This is a peculiarly tricky decision for me. It's like seeing the person you had a crush in kindergarten on 25 years later, and you see they look and act somewhat attractive now. Theres an awkwardness in this, you might as well be dating a new totally different person, but the origin of the attraction partly lay in them being familiar.
