Monoclass Run Suggestions
Tsak replied to Wayward Alchemist's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
i did a merc run off the bat, it honestly made the game easier, if you want some sort of a challenge i suggest doing something like all archers or soldiers. that might be really tough early with shaky hitrates and what not. -
If you're gonna use DLC for your blitzkrieg run just go straight for inner sanctum. It's really easy to avoid enemies and just hit pots to pick up rare weapons and shards without actually engaging enemies. With a little practice you can virtually dodge almost all enemies without much effort, and worst case scenario you do actually get into a battle you can restart or just retreat in 3 turns, and since in inner sanctum you usually have enough space to evade them before the retreat turn 3 limit comes up its not a big deal level wise. Only thing you really have to worry about is a sniper that has a chance of spawning with a myrmidon, but that's about it. The reward potential is off the chain, Brave swords are fairly common as are silver lances/bows Of course there is always the chance of getting an Astra/Sol/Luna (quite low though) which will just invalidate the challenge outright

any character who learns something will learn it regardless of promotion just so if she learns it at 18 she'll learn it as a lv 5 Priestess if you promote her at 14 -
Is Shadows of Valentia really worth the purchase?
Tsak replied to Shigure's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Don't get why this game gets any sort of hate. It's a real refreshing return to older FE, with gaiden mechanics taking the forefront. Honestly i have nothing bad to say about this game, mostly because everything that people seem to have a problem with (cantors, maps etc) I don't mind at all. I'm not being like some sort of guy who glazes over the bad stuff, it just really doesn't rub me the wrong way like it does them. Maybe it's because i enjoy rpg elements so much? idk But to its pedigree Echoes is a nice treat to anyone who really like fire emblem for what it is. It at times can be a different take on fire emblem, but honestly some of the old mechanics of Gaiden really should be in every Fire emblem (bowrange for example is a welcome change, it makes your archers and enemy archer feel like threatening enemies that require counterplay to combat/Also weapon skills) -
Should we have high expectations for the Story?
Tsak replied to Harvey's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I think they need to work back on having memorable characters. Something they've never really had too much trouble until now it seems like. Echoes seems like a step in the right direction, especially with the fully voice acted lines. You can make a decent story if the characters in said story are engaging, interesting and follow their own formula fairly consistently. Fates had a good example of a characters having certain values but in the story they would completely flop them for it to continue on, (cmon Xander) in turn making their character very questionable. I think it's important to establish strong character then insert them into a story and make it go from there. I know its not always how the process starts, but i feel like it might help in this case when making a brand new story. -
Japanese Gameplay of Overclasses
Tsak replied to IGdood's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
The only thing that really pisses me off is that there is no sort of color variation on these classes. Like... cmon IS? You can do it for random ass villager fork'd sprites but you can't for the dlc? its a damn shame cuz kliff in that solomon armor with black would look dope as fuck but nope, everyone looks like a generic palette... ugh so much wasted potential -

Best Combat Art opinion thread
Tsak replied to Stopwatch's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Destreza on the Rapier is a godsend when the hitrates just aren't in your favor. (Guarantees hits on enemies if the attack will kill) Also the Zweihänder skill Tigerstance on Tobin as a Dreadfighter? (adds skill stat to attack) Outright bananas -
Arts are pretty essential in some scenarios. Like curved shot for the finish of chip damage on a spellcaster, or Double lions to let Alm cleanly kill an enemy with no retaliation. Also that Rapier skill that lets hits that will kill always hit. That skill is legit amazing

To Grind or Not to Grind...
Tsak replied to Selena4Lyfe's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
i haven't needed to grind, but i do enjoy trying to get those starshards (im at 10/12 scorpio and pisces just don't wanna drop for me) that in turn has made my crew a tad overleveled. I'll probably end up doing a just normal run through hard/classic without doing any sort of grinding.. a speed run of sorts. Nothing so far as seemingly been hard (i just started up act 5) -
Arcanists are way too powerful.

Supports help lower the hitrate as well lol -
Thabes Labyrinth - Stupidly Broken?
Tsak replied to Leonarth's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I feel like thabes is like a nightmare for people who rush through the game. Whereas the last boss fight against Duma can be done without grinding. The same might not be true for Thabes. The jacked up stats basically become a curve to say that you need x amount of stats or x amount of forged gear. Either way you're going to have to grind something. That in of itself can be frustrating for most people and I get where they're coming from. I wouldn't say it's a design flaw persay but it's a much different way of thinking. To me it's really not a big deal, i started actually taking my sweet time after mid chapter 3ish. Because i want to see the affects of villager fork and overclass dlc etc. That being said it definitely feels like a case of artificial difficulty, and grinding is sort of required for a decent experience. -

Tatiana + Zeke Questions?

Yeah if you've already saved over it looks like you'll just have to get him another run. what a bummer, maybe if you kill Jerome first Zeke will retreat? idk -
Grinding StarShards?
Tsak replied to Hasnbaakoajsbakaiaja's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I mean the drops for weapons in the boss room are pretty good. I've gotten 2 brave swords in 1 big urn before. It's pretty RNG but it serves a similar purpose but at lower levels. You won't be able to fire up a game in like act1-2 and be able to storm through the Inner sanctum. You'll get your shit rocked
