  1. I'm usually fine with a little embellishment when it comes to dual wielding but in Arthur Dayne's case they outright ignored pretty much the only distinctive thing about his appearance in the books. That is to say he is known for wielding a greatsword called Dawn and is called the Sword (not Swords) of the Morning for that fact.
  2. Emmet closed his book and let out a sigh. It didn't seem like the Dettard family were in any way interesting. In general Emmet also had little interest in history of the nobles. If the noble lifestyle did interest him then he'd probably be back in Raewald now, about to marry a girl barely half his age. Still though it never hurt to educate one's self about the land. He put the book back on the shelf and returned to the mage's guild to retire for the day. Perhaps he'd pass the evening playing chess.
  3. Being in Smash Bros. also helps immensely I'm sure.
  4. Emmet soon reached the Great Library of Hull. A building he was quite familiar with by now. He doubted there would be any books exclusively focused on the Dettard family so he searched through the general history of Wyke's nobility to see if he could gleam any information.
  5. Emmet shrugged. "It was just a thought. I leave all the important decisions up to you. I am quite content being a mere minion." Emmet looked around. "It seems the lady Claire has run off somewhere. I do apologise if I interrupted a conversation between the two of you. I best be off too. If you ever need anything from me, you know where to find me." Emmet left the vendor's and found himself heading towards the library again. He thought he'd exhausted his search for the vial some time ago but when he heard Niko had worked for the royal siblings not long ago, a name popped into his mind. A name the princess had mentioned casually some days ago. Dettard. The enemy recently fought by the prince in a battle where the lady Claire almost definitely found the vial. He knew very little about Wyke's nobles but he figured the library was a good place to start if there was anything of note.
  6. I'd like to see a lot more choices when it comes to where battles are fought in Fire Emblem. We've seen the occasional splitting of chapters when it comes to travel routes but I can't recall any point in the series where the game gives you the option of two different fortress and tasks you with taking one over the other. A decision like that could really change the face of the war rather than simply traveling road A or road B and ending up at the exact same place with absolutely no difference. I'd love to see a game where you're a bunch of rebels ala FE5 and you have a wide options of chapters to select from each signifying a different way of waging the war with some endings leading to failure, others where you take down your enemy but lose the favor of the people or some where you manage to come to a compromise.
  7. "A nice offer" Emmet acknowledged. Though he wondered if Niko even had the authority to let him stay at the Herman estate, "but I enjoy having my own independance so I'll stay at the mage's guild unless my financial situation grows desperate. As for equipment..." Niko took a quick glance at what the vendor had to offer. "Pinaka does me fine offensively and I have my own stave for healing. I do note they have a barrier stave here however. Do you think the group would need some extra resistance towards magic? I reckon you and I are pretty familiar with magical attacks. The pegasus knight should be too if stereotypes are anything to go by so probably not. Still, could be useful for practise at the very least."
  8. "I suppose not. I just wanted to give you the events of the other night from my perspective mainly. Although I would like some idea as to when we might mobilize. Ah, also if you have any policy on independent work while under contract. If I'm tight for cash I might take on a few jobs every now and then."
  9. "Oh a pegasus rider? That must be a very useful asset. Only five members over all. You were sorely lacking members before I joined. Seems I've already met half the group and didn't even realise it. Still though I would like to meet this pegasus rider and healer. If only to introduce myself." It'd be a shame if we end up burying one of them and I have absolutely nothing to say. Wouldn't be the first time though.
  10. Wait Niko's been banned from a pub Emmet thought. Maybe the guy has a drinking problem. Now that would surprise me. "I agree. Fighting alongside someone is certainly a good way of discovering their true mettle but other activities also have merit. Truth be told I've only met you and Serge so far which just won't do. If a more standard social action isn't possible, then perhaps a group training session. What kind of fighters do we even have in the group? You, Serge and I give us a mage, a swordsman, an archer with some basic healing abilities. A good strong start to be sure. Do we have any horsemen with us? Or anyone in the more stealthy professions."
  11. "Sounds like we're working for the royal family, albeit indirectly" Emmet said. Of course he was fully aware of Adele's situation and why she wanted a group of mercenaries, Emmet was just curious if Niko understood why exactly he was risking his neck. Emmet couldn't tell if he was the sort that would ask a lot of questions. He certainly seemed curious as most mages are, they met in a library after all, but he had a sense of indifferent laxness about him that suggested he felt people were best left to their own devices. If anything Emmet could think of few people he knew that wold show little interest in turning up to a party hosted by royalty. "Regardless I feel I should become more acquainted with your little group before we get into any real fights. I wouldn't want to accidentally shoot one of our allies. Perhaps we mercenaries should go out for a drink ourselves some time. Or if you're entirely opposed to alcohol, I could come dine with you at the Herman residence some night."
  12. Bah. Voting's for democrats. Join the glorious communist union and accept what the government forum gives you.
  13. Emmet waved away the notion. "There's more to a man than his mere history Niko. At least I sorely hope that's true. My own history, while interesting, has been less than illustrious. It's the character of a man that matters most." Wait, he said he was asked to perform a task for her highness. Somehow Emmet was quite sure Niko didn't refer to the Queen. "Why were you performing a task for princess Cassandra?" Emmet asked. "Are we also on her payroll? Because the sum of my actions in the Reliants have also pertained to her."
  14. Emmet was taken back. "I didn't intend to speak defensively at all. The way I see it I have no reason to defend myself. I was right and everything worked out. Of course my view on the subject is that my own opinion has little merit. You, as my commander, are the one who should decide what role I take in battle, so long as it doesn't put me into undue harm. SPeaking of which, I was quite disappointed you didn't show up to the lucky goose yourself. I was hoping to use it as a chance to get to know you. We're still practically strangers after all."
  15. "He was still dangerous. I could sense it. He was completely out numbered and stood no chance of beating us in a fight but he's the type that would go down fighting rather than surrender. Especially when the others were talking about torture." Emmet spoke the last word with a certain amount of distaste. "Serge had even put his weapon away. The fight was not over but many of the others failed to realise. I decided to shoot him rather than risking a blood bath. And lo, it was the correct decision. He had been carrying an explosive. Had I not acted then nobody in that sewer would have got out alive, save maybe the lady Charlotte. I understand the value of information though. I visited the lady Adele the following morning to explain myself and she agreed it had been the right move." Emmet didn't mention the princess' presence there. I wonder if Niko is aware of the relationship between the two of them.

  17. The squire who had been present at Emmet's last meeting with Claire suddenly bounded in and started talking to her. We just need Serge to show up and then it'll be the same crowd as last week he reflected. The squire's appearance however reminded Emmet that he wasn't here to talk to the lady Claire. He turned his attention to Niko. "Commander. I was actually looking for you, truth be told. I think we need to have a discussion of the events that transpired a few nights ago. I apologise for not seeking you out earlier. I would claim I was busy but" Emmet shrugged. "I just procrastinated a bit. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again."
  18. Eh. I'd rather there be at least one other submission so there can be some sort of vote. Prompt isn't a month old yet so if anyone is actually working on something then I'm fine with it running a bit longer.
  19. Was going to wait for someone else to post something in order to get some inspiration but that never really happened so I just wrote something on the fly. What I ended up with was...sort of weird. Can't really say how I feel about it myself, I don't even know what half the references refer to but you might enjoy it. Title: Intradimensional Lunch Thief Word Count: 1649
  20. "No. Not 100% healthy but I doubt it'd do any better out in the wild. It's been pretty domesticated. Why do you inquire about it's health anyway? Do you think we might be able to cure malnutrition? An interesting idea to be sure." Emmet referred to the badge as it as, in truth, aside from naming it, he hadn't even check its gender. It was less a pet to him and more something in his room he feed.
  21. "Greetings lady Claire" Emmet said. "Always pleasent to make your acquaintance. The badger is doing as well as one could expect considering it was raised for feed and is living in doors. I know a fisherman who provides me maggots for her quite cheaply. I've named her Claire" he said with a smirk. In truth he hadn't named the badger yet at all.
  22. Do you like the sound of your own voice (both literally and metaphorically speaking)?
  23. Emmet entered the vendor. As he'd hoped, Niko was indeed there. Talking to lady Claire of all people. Our path just keeps crossing he reflected. Though it's not so odd the two of them are together. The day I met him we ran into her. He walked over to them. "Commander Niko, Lady Claire, it is good to see you."
