  1. I don't mind having an avatar, but I wouldn't mind a game missing them either. I do hope they work on balancing the avatar in the next game. In fe12 he already was a great unit and awakening only made him more broken. I get that your personal character is supposed to be good, but a little bit more like normal characters wouldn't hurt.
  2. I don't have any idea who is the strongest, but I think Eirika is the weakest of the bunch. I believe the only real combat experience she had before the war where a few sword fighting lessons from her brother. Roy probably is the second weakest since he is the youngest lord if I recall correctly. He did went to military school in Etruria, but many others had prior combat experience as well.
  3. I agree with the 3 save file limit. Me and my twin brother share our 3ds so there will be a lot of fighting over which game is gonna get erased once we both plan to start a new game.
  4. I wouldn't be against Ricken moving up either. 5 base speed is massive fail, but not the crippling flaw everyone makes it out to be and he can use his Gregor support to salvage it somewhat. Gregor wouldn't mind the defence boost that dark knight Ricken gives him either so its not a one way deal. I hear everyone say that he has a bad jointime, but I did't really notice it in my hard playtrough. He still hits resistance from 2 range and his elwind tome can 2 round all the wyverns if I recall correctly, so he isn't being a burden. After his promotion to dark knight his durability improves and he can hit quite hard against the many knights, generals and great knights the Valm chapters keeps trowing into your face. I'm not saying that Ricken is a good unit, but he's a pretty decent mage and in my opinion at least better then Donny. Donny does turn out great when he gets out of his villager class, but I don't think its worth the effort since Donny is just horrible when he comes in and spends most of his time before promotion unable to finish of enemies unless they have less then 10 hp. I'm not really all that experienced with tier list so I could be wrong on this one.
  5. I have a few characters that I've grown fond of dispite not expecting it. At first I thought I would dislike Maribelle for being yet another spoiled rich jerk, but she actually turned out to be pretty nice. She's also one of the more funny characters of the game. Stahl went from generic cavalry that I did't care about to nice guy. His lack of a gimmick made me like him too since he's one of the few without them. Gregor is another one. His accent and being able to read his supports really changed me opinion for the better. I've also grown rather fond of Ricken. He's a lot less bratty then I thought and he turned out pretty well for me gameplay-wise.
  6. Does anyone have any advice on Severa's inheritance skill. I went with Barbarian Gregor as her dad. I'm wondering if I should pass on wrath for extra crit or just give her axefaire so she'll do more damage as a hero.
  7. I believe Saleh is a great sage. He's not as good as the other magical units at max level, but his bases are good enough to carry him trough the entire main game.
  8. I still don't have the new maps available. Well its still pretty early here.
  9. I really like archers and I always try to use one, but this time I just couldn't be bothered to try one. Virion starts out awfull and I haven't recruited Noire yet. I'm also a little annoyed how awfull their skills are. Skill +2, skill cry and accuracy +20 are all pretty much worthless and bowfaire is only decent on Assasins and Warriors, but going trough level 15 sniper is not very appealing.
  10. I wonder why Tharja is mentioned often, but no one is mentioning Niime. Sure she's merely Hugh's grandmother, but she did end up raising him and I think not healing your grandson when he is having some serious injuries is a lot worse then what Tharje did. I haven't seen a lot of mother/daughter stuff so far so I could be wrong on that. I don't mind either of the two though. As for most disturbing characters......uh Valter and Narcian are pretty vile characters I guess.
  11. I think Awakening does it rather well. You can grind as much as you want, but its not necessary to complete the main storyline. You can grind to give the children some nice skills, but i'm far too lazy to bother with that so I usually keep my grinding to a minimum.
  12. I always thought Marcus was a great unit, but to be fair that was mostly because I completely sucked when I began playing fire emblem and needed to rely on him all the time.
  13. But why would a light mage use strength for a skill anyway? Grandmasters are a hybrid class so it makes sense for them. A skill like Nova would make more sense for war monks then for bishops in my opinion.
  14. Perhaps they should have a skill that makes them do extra damage against risen like their extra damage against monsters in fe8?
  15. Miriel does have the highest rescue range when she promotes and highest psychic range as well if she manages to hit C staves. I personally haven't used Vaike all that much so I can't say much about him, but doesn't he have some defensive problems as well? Miriel's defense is horrible, but she has much better ranged attack which keeps her a little safe.
  16. Wow no one voted for fe6? Most of the characters in the game are generic, but it gave me some of my favourite units in the series like Niime and the orphan twins.
  17. I always liked the idea to give Assasins a damage boost If they attacked someone from behind. Other then that there should be more thieving stuff. Awakening lacks it a little since there aren't that many chests and I don't believe I've seen much doors either. That and no stealing weapons this time.
  18. Perhaps we should have a special pairing topic since I've seen a lot of those lately.
  19. I have a feeling that your going to enjoy the Ricken/Gregor conversation. Anyway Chrom/Freddy was my favourite convo of the dlc.
  20. I thought the harvest scramble dlc was pretty funny. especially the Frederick/Chrom Ricken/Gregor and Kjelle/Severa
  21. This might be a stupid question, but should't Libra be a tad higher? At least above Tharja and perhaps even above Anna. When Libra joins he has staff utility and reasonable combat stats, not only that, but he makes a joke out of every enemy magic user for a long while. He can also greatly help in the early valm chapters, since he can use hammers to deal with those high defense knights. Anna has higher speed, but I believe hammers are a lot easier to get then armourslayers so Libra has easier hammer access and his niche as a mage killer. Edit: Oops never mind I completely forgot about Anna's thief utility for a few seconds
  22. I just recruited my first child character in the form of Laurent. The chapter was pretty easy........until those stupid falcon knight reinforcements came in and doubled and killed Libra. Second time I just rushed and killed the boss before they arrived. Am probably doing Donnel/Owain next.
  23. I don't really know how spotpass works in this game. So far I have Matthew and Nino in my bonus box, but I don't know when I get more.
  24. I don't have any confessions for awakening except that I have a mage fetish and try to use as much magic users as I can without screwing myself.
  25. I just beated and recruited Matthew and he looked pretty decent. Not a total fit, but close enough for a spotpass character. He's slightly surperior to my Gaius now with slightly higher speed and strength, but much lower skill. Wrath is also rather nice. Too bad they barely have any lines. Just one or two vs conversations would be good enough in my book. The dlc characters are a little lame though with no supports and generic models. I can accept it with spotpass guys, since those are free, but just a little more effort would be nice for the dlc guys.
