Do you like it when people break the 4th wall?

depends on the general setting of the writing

if it's like, paper mario for example, I love it

in something that seems much more serious of a setting, like FE, then no, it just ruins the quality of the writing

it all really depends on the situation and the execution, if either are off, it's just bad.

This. It depends on the kind of writing thats going on, the sort of story being presented, the genre, the characters, everything. If Game Of Thrones broke the fourth wall, id be all "da fuck? no!" But when something like My Little Pony does it, its hilarious.

Something like Spaceballs, which is obviously not meant to be serious, can do it, but a serious work of fiction can't.

Can you imagine if something like Citizen Kane suddenly had the title character turn to the screen and ask 'Everybody get that?'. I shudder.

Heehee yeah that was pretty awesome ^~^

Yeah I like when people (and ponies~) break the fourth wall~

But I do have to agree it isn't as funny if it's from something on the more serious side... x3

it's one of the most overused and unfunny tropes these days, particularly in video games

it's not always terrible but needs to be subtle to be enjoyable most of the time

Pretty much. Should never be used in serious shit, and I don't think it would even fit in most comedies.
