Silvercrow
Rules (adapted from Integrity's) - Ratings are for Normal Mode. - Votes need some explanation regarding their gameplay performance to be counted. If somebody else said what you want to already, quote them explicitly. +/- ≤1 point extra regarding personality/appearance is encouraged, but no more. If you exercise your bias privileges, please do so explicitly. - Votes are made out of 10. You cannot rate a unit above 10 or below 0. - The rating topic will be updated whenever I feel like it, but I will try to allow at least 24 hours for each topic. They will generally be updated at around noon EST. - A character being inferior relative to another character does not explicitly reduce their rating. - Characters do not get credit for recruiting others or allowing access to side quests. - Assume that the character in question is being recruited. - Characters do not get credit for bringing items. - I reserve the right to ignore any votes which are not well-supported. - You may allow a character to use scrolls (and adjust their rating appropriately) so long as it is reasonable (you may debate what constitutes "reasonable" if you feel people may disagree with you). You cannot arbitrarily increase a unit's score by arguing that they may exclusively use half a dozen scrolls for themself. In general, scrolls will probably not add more than +1 to a character's overall rating. - Warp skipping has an impact on scores in so far as "Safy has an high base staff rank". Nanna would score lower than Safy because of her lower rank, but no chapter is explicitly said to be skipped. You can't get Warp and then suddenly say every character after doesn't exist or requires turns to recruit. Something could be said of Xavier, or Conomore/Amalda who are in an escape chapter where Leaf starts next to the escape point. Ronan: 2.42 Marty: 2.89 Tanya: 3.82 Dalsin: 4.38 Evayl: 5.02 Hicks: 5.89 Brighton: 6.90 Machua: 7.03 Halvan: 7.35 Dagda: 7.54 Rifis: 7.70 Leaf: 8.18 Shiva: 8.26 Karin: 8.50 Felgus: 8.79 Othin: 8.86 Lara: 8.92 Fin: 9.06 Nanna: 9.13 Safy: 9.48 Asvel: 9.58 Extremely solid mounted unit with decent indoor combat (although his sword rank is a bit lacking). He's got good PCC, which makes up for his lack of skills. He joins at a low level, but his base stats are decent enough that it actually proves to be beneficial as he can level fairly quickly while also using scrolls. 7.5/
Icon of Sin
Carrion might not look like it at first, but he's fairly solid. His bases aren't too impressive, but 4 PCC and solid growths for the entire spectrum makes him good both for offense and defense. You'd probably want to switch his Steel Lance for something else though, because a 15 Weight weapon on a 6 Build guy is hilarious. At least he has a big 25% growth to correct that. A few chapters after he joins, he can also net you the Elite Sword. If he still has trouble catching up to your other units, he's pretty good to fight with it, but it should be traded around so that Nanna and Thieves can use it as well without breaking it. Since he starts at level 1 however, a kill should grant him a lot of experience even without the Elite Sword. His weapon ranks are good for such a low level unit. E+40 Swords is lower than what Fin or Brighton had, but unlike them he can use those while mounted. D+30 Lances gives him Javelins right off the bat and it's definitely workable in the long run for the otherwise rarely used high ranked lances. He has no skills, but he does have a horse and he definitely enjoys fighting outdoors. Since he can build his sword rank whenever he wants, he's not so bad indoors either if you forgive his low movement. He could use a scroll or two to help him start. Hezul to add some meat on his bones, while Neir can get him out of his low Build a bit faster. Once he caught up with others, he shouldn't really need anything. Again, passing him a Magic scroll to defend against spells/use magic swords better isn't a bad idea, but he shares that with most of the cast. A horse, more common 1-2 RNG than sword wielders with Javelins, a PCC of 4 and above average defensive stats once built makes him stand out of the crowd. His slow start is probably his biggest flaw, but he shouldn't take too much time to catch up. 8/10. Edited June 10, 2012 by Dio

Emperor Hardin
Lets list Carrion's advantages * Comes in what may be the best mounted class in the game(vying with Free Knight) * starts out with good ranks in two weapon types * Doesn't suffer dismounted due to use of swords * has great growths * Joins fairly early * Has a pursuit critical rating of 4 * Gets the Elite Sword which doubles EXP gain 10/10 The only thing holding him back is a lack of personal skills and not joining in the Manster escape chapters. Jave
Potentially one of the best units. Everything has already been said. 9/

MacLovin
Takes some work to become solid, but is a good unit overall. 5/10 He could grow into one hell of a powerful unit, IF we're willing. And, he gets Elite Sword, IF we're not using it on someone else. And, 4 PCC and 60% skl growth says hi. Seriously, if he gets rated higer than all of the Manster Guys, I will be disappointed. I don't want him to beat Brighton and Machua. Applying negative bias, due to people overrating him. He's nice outdoors, but then again, any mount with workable combat is nice there. And, then we get Alva, Kein, Selphina, and Fred a few chapters later. And we've got HIcks, Brighton, Fin, Nanna, Karin, and Fergus. Carrion isn't bad, just overrated. And that he's one of the few characters that is worthy to get the Elite Manual to get him battle ready fast for the later chapters. Having that with the Elite Sword will possibly get him to promotion at 20 after Chapter 13. Maybe sooner. Great move and mounted to get him to capture anything along with his PCC makes him good for capturing. Great availability. Possibly the best cavalry unit in the game. 10/10 Edited June 11, 2012 by アイネ

Agro
Terrible bases make him a pain to raise and the next few chapters are not kind to mounted units IIRC. If you want the Elite sword you have to bring him into a chapter where he'll spend the majority of his time climbing through forest which always annoys me. On top of that, his weapon ranks aren't that high so he's stuck using some less-than-stellar equipment for a while. He has good growths and PCC to balance it out though, so he's not terrible, not amazing, but alright. 6.5/10 Edited June 11, 2012 by Agro
BrightBow
Neat, another units who can make use of swords while mounted. Sadly, he joins rather late and at a low level. And his weapon ranks are nothing to write home either. And his build is rather crappy. However, he doesn't take long to start killing things because of his massive pcc and his Leaf support and he will develop into a neat unit when given the chance. But you won't really miss this guy if you don't use him. 6.5/10 Edited June 11, 2012 by BrightBow

Biabarr
8/10 Great mounted unit for outdoors chapters. High Pursuit level and pretty solid growths. However, he does come pretty under-leveled. But he also gets you the elite sword.
