Of course the combat in NoA is much more complex, but in both games you have to defeat hordes of enemies at the same time. Though Sakura Wars also features field action like platformer parts. Next time you explore Eurulm, go back to the place where you found Liliana's handkerchief (behind the area where you fought Joe). There is a really useful Servan hidden there. I missed out on this on my first playthrough, so there were some obstacles I couldn't remove and thus I missed out on some extra stuff.
