  1. I voted for Naesala and Ena. Naesala cause he's weaker than Tibarn in RD. Nasir cause I hate Ena and there's no way in hell I'm using bexp on her just to make her slightly less useless in RD. Even if Ena could have transfer bonuses, she'd still suck.
  2. Black Knight, no contest. Petrine could barely handle Greil but the BK killed him easily. Bertram, Bryce and Petrine are easy to beat but you need luck to beat the BK. He doesn't even need Luna to own Ike's ass cause there's no way Ike will survive that fight without healing. BK 3HKOs Ike without Luna, you put Ike against the other generals and he has a much better chance of winning.
  3. Screw the coin flips. I never start a new game until I've finished my current playthrough no matter how bad its going.
  4. Bastian is slow as hell. If you've been training Soren, Ilyana, or Tormod, they're probably better than him. Likewise with Lucia and the swordmasters. Lucia is weak. There's not much point to Bastian and Lucia if you've been using characters from their respective classes. I've used Rolf and he turned out great. Thing is if you train Rolf, he's better than Shinon when you get him back. If you train Shinon later, he could be better than Rolf in a few areas. Both of them have to be babied to be of any use. Whether they're worth it or not depends on your playstyle. I personally don't use either cause I'm not into snipers not countering on the enemy phase unless its a ranged attack and there are better characters.
  5. You'd have to add no forged silver weapons to that to make it challenging. And no laguz royals.
  6. Wow, I can't believe I never thought of forging her an iron lance. I don't use Fiona, I've only used her seriously once only cause I wanted to take every character to endgame at least once and she turned out good for me but I don't want to go to all that trouble of training her again.
  7. Yeah, I forgot about leadership stars. I don't know about you but I usually have to use quite a few vulneraries on Nephenee to keep her alive (she's not that lucky in my game). Maybe one or two on Brom.
  8. Damn it, I misread the topic title again (I did this on the PoR board in the best character topic). Ok, Laura is the best saint but she's not my fave. It doesn't matter to me if a character is the best in their class if I don't like them or care for them. I'd rather use characters I actually like over characters that are statistically better but don't do anything for me.
  9. You don't have time to level up Fiona. She's only available in 2 chapters in part 1 and you need to dump a ton of bexp into her just so she can survive her first chapter. Without bexp, she's useless. She'll be missing and getting one rounded by everything. She loses AS with an iron lance and has the worst bases in the game. She's a lot more trouble than she's worth though she can turn out awesome. Yeah, Ena also sucks. She can't hurt anything, she's weak and slow, it takes forever to level up her strike. She can't even hurt Gareth while he's on a defense tile and she can't hurt Dheginsea. Why did they force us to take such a crappy unit into endgame? Out of the ones that are forced, she is the worst by far.
  10. Shouldn't your sniper be behind the front lines anyways? I know what you're saying but it's not that hard to keep them protected. If you can keep your healers and mages protected, I'm sure you can keep snipers out of harms way. Don't you have to waste another character's turn to switch to the crossbow? And you have to move them right beside the sniper to trade. There's rarely a situation where you have to switch to a crossbow so I'd rather just sell them and buy more weapons. It's inconvinent anyways cause the character used to trade with the sniper could be doing something more productive like weakening an enemy or protecting the sniper or baiting the enemy to attack him/her on the enemy phase.
  11. I like Rhys more for his personality and cause he's with the GMs. Laura's probably better but my fave characters aren't based on whose better. Mist only overpowers Rhys after she promotes. She can't heal as much damage as Rhys can and it's not hard at all to keep Rhys protected. At least Rhys can weaken the enemy if you ever need to. Anyways, I only use them for healing so it doesn't matter much.
  12. This. I didn't mind the character endings but it seemed like there wasn't a proper ending. The game just ends and everyone goes their separate ways. I would've liked something like the ending in PoR or SS where everyone says something about what just happened along with the character endings. And I hate Ike for leaving and never coming back. Wasn't he supposed to be commander of the Greil Mercenaries until the day he dies? If he was going to leave, I think it would've been cool if he took all the GMs with him cause they are a family and you don't just leave your family and never see them again.
  13. Greil Mercenaries' battle theme when you attack with them the one that plays in most of the part 3 maps the one that plays in Oliver's mansion and other maps Oliver's theme most of the map themes most of the battle themes the one that plays when your choosing your units the base theme the Gallia/Skrimir theme I actually like a lot of the songs in this game. I've never looked up the names of the songs so I'm sorry about that.
  14. Even if its a little easy later in the game, its still fun watching your units kill the enemies and most of the later maps have TONS of enemies so they won't be finished that quickly. Part 1's hard cause almost everyone has low defense and a lot of them are also underleveled. Part 2 has no healer or broken characters so you have to waste turns using vulneraries and you can't really breeze through any of the chapters (except 2-3). There also aren't many characters available in each mission until 2-E and that's hard even with a lot of characters.
  15. Ragnell > Alondite > Vague Katti Even though Ragnell is exclusive to Ike, he gets a lot of use out of it and racks up a lot of kills. He onerounds everything except a few generals but he has a high strength cap (37) which allows him to do more damage than other sword users. Alondite is the same as Ragnell but it doesn't have as many chapters to be used. Vague Katti only has 2 more mt than Alondite and Ragnell and it lacks ranged attacks. The bonus also isn't as good. VK only gives +3 defense, Alondite/Ragnell give +5 defense. VK also has the same critical rate as the other two but its more accurate. They're all good but Ike + Ragnell = unstoppable (well almost).
  16. It's inconvenient but if there's an opportunity to do one, I'll do it. I usually do the falconknight triangle attack in 4-3 at least once. Sometimes I finish off a boss with the brothers' triangle attack but they really don't need it cause they usually do a lot of damage anyways.
  17. What about Kieran? He's pretty awesome. Take gamble off of him and give him Sol.
  18. He's so strong that he does fine with normal steel axes. Definately my fave character in this game and RD.
  19. How about a "Teenagers" playthrough? This would have Sothe, Edward, Leonardo, Tormod, Mist, Jill, Sanaki, Rolf(?), Meg(?), and other characters under 20. Could be interesting.
  20. Yeah, I've done that before. He owns with a javelin, its pretty funny. Got him to SS lances but he doesn't use any as an NPC. Still fun to see him own with lances.
  21. Don't worry about it. If you're not having fun with it, then there's no point in playing. But I honestly don't think part 1 is that hard. A few chapters are but I'm sure you could figure out a strategy to get you by easier. As for the rest of the game, the GM chapters are easy cause almost all of them are good units. But I always find part 4 challenging cause a bunch of my characters are usually still 2nd tier. It makes it frustrating and fun at the same time. Endgame isn't that hard without laguz royals. I think its more fun since you need to use strategy instead of sending a royal into the middle of a bunch of enemies.
  22. That's just insane. On my first two playthroughs, it took me so long to beat Ashera cause I didn't have a strategy. On my last two playthroughs, I beat her in 4-6 turns but I had at least one laguz royal. There's no way I'm beating her in one turn. I like taking my time anyways, it's more enjoyable that way.
  23. The worst are Fiona, Lyre and Gareth. Fiona cause her bases suck and she's onerounded by almost every enemy in her first map. She's also got horrible accuracy and does so little damage. I had to give her lots of bexp to make her useful in that chapter and she still wasn't very useful. She does get better over time but its a lot of work and not worth the effort. Lyre cause she is so weak and can't keep her cat form for more than 3 or 4 battles. I had to use olivi grass every other turn. Gareth cause he's useless against those spirits and gets doubled by them. It only takes 3 or 4 spirits to kill him cause of his horrible resistance. If he was playable earlier in the game (even if just in part 4), he would be awesome with his enormous HP, strength and defense though he'd be so slow that he wouldn't double anything. He'd get doubled a lot but take minimal damage. If I had to pick one absolute worst, it would be Lyre. Gareth's only horrible cause there aren't any physical damaging enemies on the only two maps you get to play him on and he gets raped by the spirits. Lyre sucks the whole game.
  24. I still think a lot of the NPCs are stupid. They have a tendency to suicide themseleves into a bunch of enemies. Some of them also miss more often than not. Has anyone else sent the allies down to fight the Greil Mercenaries in 3-13? It's pretty funny cause the GMs kick their asses so easily. I'm embarassed that they're my allies (even though most of them are higher than the DB).
  25. Ike definately gets Aether and the other three go to whoever. Sol to a paladin (whoever needs it most), Luna to a general/halberdier, and the last one is random.
