Control and graphics wise, it's an absolute gem, series peak for sure (the background animations did a great job, especially boss foreshadowing like Corpius or Escue. I'm not as fond of the music in some areas, but it was more some of the ambient tracks I didn't jive with like Cataris or Ferenia (which didn't help with the amount of time I got stuck in some places). Story wise, it gets pretty backloaded on what the plan was all along and while the story not being the focus is in keeping with the series, it can feel like there's sections where nothing happens beyond Samus continuing to explore (not helped by my stupidity at points leading me to be slow in some of these admittedly. The actual final fight definitely earned it's climactic nature though. I mean, I died (SPOILERS), Spoiler to both Raven Beak's QTE bit and the escape once each, so me dying a lot is pretty relevant. Still feel like he was easier in the end than Experiment Z-57. so it is something that's fundamental to my experience. This artstyle does not suit Castlevania at all. Also, the comedy routine with Charlotte is starting to become almost endearing. I mean, when even fucking Death itself joined in on the fun of calling Charlotte a child, I couldn't help but roll my eyes and smile. This game is so dumb. But if it repeats the same tired gag another couple of times, it might reach the Garon-esque level of dumb. Which would, ironically enough, make it better than Aria's story.
