If somebody else said what you want to already, quote them explicitly. +/- ≤1 point extra regarding personality/appearance is encouraged, but no more. If you exercise your bias privileges, please do so explicitly. - Votes are made out of 10. You cannot rate a unit above 10 or below 0. - The rating topic will be updated whenever I feel like it, but I will try to allow at least 24 hours for each topic. They will generally be updated at around noon EST. - A character being inferior relative to another character does not explicitly reduce their rating. - Characters do not get credit for recruiting others or allowing access to side quests. - Assume that the character in question is being recruited. - Characters do not get credit for bringing items. - I reserve the right to ignore any votes which are not well-supported. - You may allow a character to use scrolls (and adjust their rating appropriately) so long as it is reasonable (you may debate what constitutes "reasonable" if you feel people may disagree with you). You cannot arbitrarily increase a unit's score by arguing that they may exclusively use half a dozen scrolls for themself. In general, scrolls will probably not add more than +1 to a character's overall rating. - Warp skipping has an impact on scores in so far as "Safy has an high base staff rank". Nanna would score lower than Safy because of her lower rank, but no chapter is explicitly said to be skipped. You can't get Warp and then suddenly say every character after doesn't exist or requires turns to recruit. Something could be said of Xavier, or Conomore/Amalda who are in an escape chapter where Leaf starts next to the escape point. Her bases are pretty standard fare for prepromotes at this stage, being average in most of her stats, but with a movement star, leadership star, and 2 PCC which make her a bit more flexible. However, her real interesting utility comes from her weapon ranks: A Swords C Staves which allows her to uniquely (save for a Nanna who's done an extreme amount of grinding for staff rank) use a combination of Fire Sword + Status Staff to Silence or Sleep certain units in the last chapters which are above the Mag cap on magic circles. It's not a 100% necessary utility, but it can be used to make certain chapters easier, such as 24x and the final chapter. Icon of Sin Posted July 7, 2012 Share Posted July 7, 2012 (edited) Amalda offers a lot of utility for the short time you get to use her. In terms of stats, 34 HP offers a lot of usage before she fatigues unlike most staff users and 9 Defense gives her a modest durability in the frontlines. 8 Strength is poor, but A Swords gives her a lot of powerful options such as Silver and Master, while her PCC of 2 allows her to use a Killer or Rapier to good effect. Her base magic of 13 probably makes her a great user of magic swords, especially when the Thunder Sword boosts her pursuit critical by 10 while the Fire Sword hits very hard and is useful for staves. Then there's a decent 11 Skill, a great 15 Speed, passable 8 Build, the Continue skill and all of this sitting atop a 10 Movement horse. Even indoors, 7 Movement is still good and she gets to keep both of her ranks. Then there's her C staves, which she can use with a few utility swords much like Nanna before her. A very useful trick she can do is disable Elf, relying on a natural magic stat of 19, an equipped Fire Sword and a full charge of M Up. On top of that, she even gets a movement star. She does have great growths, even in her pitiful Strength, but her Magic growth is lacking. Heim, perhaps coupled with Blagi or even Fala, can boost it to fairly high levels. Dain is also interesting, but at least she doesn't need Hezul like most other staff units. Do keep in mind that equipping one of the two available Elite Swords will make her experience gain skyrocket. Leader star and solid weapon ranks are nice. Even if you trained up Nanna, another mounted healer is always great to have.
