@SatsumaFSoysoy Wow... that ninja Hana makes me really jealous. Really wish I could have built her, but her weapons were needed, as you will see in my clear. Brave Celica is such a nice galeforcer to use in long clears. Looks like this map hardly gave you any trouble.

It's ok, it'll just cost more grails I guess.

Don't think I've ever seen you use Cake Cutter SBartre before. Very impressive that Bartre managed to quad Claude, all things considered. Poor Fir left in the back as usual.

@SatsumaFSoysoy– A lot of +10 girlies on this one. Hana and Hilda are rocking some nice builds. Celica outspeeding Claude was pretty crazy, but then I look at all those in-combat buff and remember how stonked she is.

She actually didn't outspeed I think because Catch activated fully, but I didn't do the math in depth. She just Double Lioned her way to victory anyway.

Nice exact kill on Claude. OG Elise's firepower never ceases to amaze.

@SatsumaFSoysoy Guess we tend to coincide a lot when it comes to clears, haha! I also used Ninja Hana with practically the same skillset minus the special. B!Celica really has come a long way since those days she was called the worst of CYL2, now she's amongst the best of the best in terms of sword units! W!Hilda+10 was quite the surprise, even more when she has to rely heavily on Repositon and Azura's Guidance to get into the fray very fitting that she'd drag her feet to not do anything, lol but when she did she destroyed whatever got in front of her. It was a great clear!

I guess we are just that cultured lol. Stop copying me tho, you copied me so hard our Hanas even said the same Special quote for their first activation

I love my WHilda. It's the only Hilda I will ever have a shot at +10ing probably. She may be too lazy to move, but Azura is strict and makes her work.

Norne is pretty damn strong. Didn't expect her to take out Claude so soon. I haven't gotten to building mine since I can't pull Spendthrift and failed to get Plegian Bow. Ruptured Sky is so handy.

The update for the in-combat stat boosts made the UI really messy, but I guess it's worth it when you get to see just how much is being piled onto your favourite unit, case in point Eirika here. Glad you figured out how to not get murdered by Claude. I assume the play was to make sure everything on the right side died first?

  2. @NSSKG151 I honestly thought Jill was there to beat Claude up, but he must be too fast for her. NYAnna is indestructible as always. Did you get Plegian Bow?

@Some Jerk Impressive showing from Silvia. You've made her go quite far.

@Diovani Bressan Huh, Freyja. A welcome surprise.

@Jugdral Lover/iggy/Safer Jamke made short work of Claude with that Brave Bow. Seliph is so tanky.

@Sasori So the orphan boys couldn't handle the Abyssal? Or did you just want a change of pace? Either way, LLeif and BDimitri are strong, but Gordin and Siegbert earned their place.

This seemed like a terrible time for Kagero again, so this time I'm basically my Arena core, with two units that I finished building in the last two months.

    @Landmaster @Alexmender @Maaka

  3. @NSSKG151 Nice flier team. Jill is really destructive, but so is Elincia.

@Diovani Bressan Dominance OP. Wish I had a Bride Miccy.

@Flying Shogi Nice Laguz (and half-Laguz). Tibarn + Naesala is such a deadly combo. I wonder who the green one will be, since Reyson is just a dancer.

@Maaka Nice WoM Miccy. But imagine if the cav was one tile off to the left

@Landmaster BIke busted. Did Yune ever count as an honorary Elise?

Here's mine. Decided to not use either Altina.

All the more reason why it wouldn't refer to a recurve bow.

Even if they had borrowed the word from Chinese (which would not be out of the question), removing the 反 makes absolutely no sense because that's the part that distinguishes a recurve bow from any other type of bow.

    It's adjective-noun-noun, though.

邪な is an adjective meaning "evil" or "wicked". 曲 is a noun meaning "enjoyment", "interest", or "pleasure". 弓 is a noun meaning "bow".

It's still weird that there's no particle between the two nouns, but the construction still makes the most sense when interpreted this way. This interpretation also makes more sense when compared to some of the other weapons with odd name constructions, like Florina's Lance and Elise's Staff (not an exhaustive list). These weapons in Japanese have two nouns jammed together that don't really seem like they should be jammed together (granted, instead of an adjective in the initial spot, they have the character's name as a possessive, though possessive nouns technically function as adjectives).

Florina's Lance is "Florina's Oath-Lance" if translated with the two adjacent nouns interpreted as a compound noun, and Elise's Staff is "Elise's Youth-Staff". Both compound nouns are just plain weird. In Elise's case, you can interpret the first noun as an adjective as "Elise's Young Staff", but the word 幼 for "young" specifically refers to living things and isn't used for objects like staves (much like how in English you'd differentiate between "young" for living things and "new" for objects). These names make somewhat more sense if interpreted as "Lance of Florina's Oath" and "Staff of Elise's Youth".

Apparently I was wrong earlier and they do actually have 反曲弓 in Japanese. I looked around and saw they do write it that way in some books and product descriptions of actual recurve bows. 曲弓 is also apparently a real thing, and it's basically a recurve bow but the tips don't curve forward (so halfway between a regular bow and a recurve kinda).

Still though, I honestly don't think reading 曲 as an individual kanji is bearing much fruit here. I also have yet to see anyone use it to mean pleasure.

I've never really thought very hard about these weapon names honestly, but they tend to describe the user instead of the weapon I guess. Just slapped on there to sound cool.

@SatsumaFSoysoy– I actually had Mirror Impact on her for a while, the Codes were for NFU. I had been waiting for a F!Mareeta to pitybreak me at some point, but it was pretty necessary to get rid of Serios as fast as possible.

M!Marth is really a timeless unit, it’s nice to see she still holds up today. And quite well considering she took on most of the map by herself. I wasn’t expecting that much power from her. Of course Shamir with Deadeye easily deletes Seiros off the map.

Oh right, I forgot about the Impact. I remember seeing it in older vids now.

Sealed Falchion definitely breathed new life into her. It's such a good weapon now.

  6. 7 hours ago, Ice Dragon said:

It would be odd to do that because the 反 is the "re-" part of "recurve". 反 means "backward" or "reverse", and a recurve bow is a bow that curves the opposite direction at the tips.

Without it, it would just be a curved bow, which is what a bow normally is.

The localized names in English and Chinese both make enough sense if translated out of the context of the weapon's effect and Nina's character, but they don't make sense in context.

Sure, it doesn't help that 曲 being used to mean "enjoyment" in Japanese seems to be rare (I've never seen it used that way personally).

The term 反曲弓 doesn't even exist in Japanese; they just say recurve bow in "English". 曲 can also mean indecent when read as "kuse" I guess, but I'd also buy that they borrowed the Chinese term without being too rigid about it. Could be both meanings at once, even, but it reads slightly weird to me to have it be adjective-adjective-noun instead of just 邪な being the adjective and 曲弓 being a compound noun.

@SatsumaFSoysoy Oh wow, great use of Flayn there to keep masked Marth alive. She really destroyed the map. Too bad she couldn't handle Seiros herself, but that deadeye from Shamir certainly did it's work. Great job!

Seiros is probably the strongest Abyssal boss in a while.

@SatsumaFSoysoy That Masked Marth is really something, nice seeing such an old TT unit be so effective. I actually started late enough I don't even have one.

That's a shame. +10ing her was easy for me since they kept rerunning her back then. Maybe you'll have a shot at getting more regular Lucinas from the new 4* chance.

Did't end up getting Mini Merric, but I can see how Asbel would be a bit boring in comparison. No fancy healing special on him. But he's a good green statball.

Thats a very unique thumbnail. Also a very different team when compared to your usual. I wasn't the only one bringing a dc dragonslayer and Lucina wasn't any less effective then Roy. Shamir also still just hits really really hard.

Mini Merric also doesn't have to worry about counterattacks, which is really nice.

I love Shamir. I don't really plan on merging her up or anything but giving her Deadeye was a great idea.

  8. 40 minutes ago, Ice Dragon said:

邪惡的曲弓, either "Wicked Song Bow" or "Wicked Wrong Bow", depending on the pronunciation of 曲. Pronounced as qǔ, it means "song" or "music". Pronounced as qū, it means "bent" or "wrong".

In Japanese, 曲 has meanings derived from both of the Chinese meanings. When pronounced as kyoku, it means "song" or "music", but also "fun", "interest", and "pleasure". Pronounced as maga, it means "evil" or "calamity".

So the Chinese translation is technically also incorrect despite using the same characters, and I stand by my statement that it should have been translated as "Lewd Thoughts Bow", which isn't a literal translation, but has the right meaning.

And yes, I did change my game's language to Chinese just to check (and now I'm super lost because despite being Chinese, I'm better at reading Japanese due to constant exposure).

I'd like to point out that 曲弓 may just be referring to Nina's bow being a recurve bow (反曲弓 in Chinese):

    Recurve_bow_0020.JPG

  9. @NSSKG151 Wow, OG Anna got to shine for once, even if it is using TA against a blue boss. Still quite impressive.

@Diovani Bressan Naga is perfect help of course, but Hinoka was a surprise. I imagine her aura was very important for ORKOing Seiros.

@Alexmender Definitely didn't think Altina would just punch straight through Seiros like that, even with Naga's help. Broken.

Hilda and the others did a great job kiting and getting rid of threats. TA NFU Hilda definitely hard counters Seiros. I can hear her complaining about doing all this work again.

@Sasori Everyone in nice hats, I see. All made by Forrest, maybe? I didn't manage to get Doro, only Katarina, who I'm happy about still.

Ah, the new kid, Asbel. To be honest, I feel like he's not actually better than YMerric or anything, but he did pretty great here. Dorothea's debuffs are nice.

@Landmaster The toilet paper was for Mirror Impact, I assume? Quite a lot of firepower coming out of these Elises. Quite impressive that you didn't even need to kite around like most people, just went head on across the bridge.

@Some Jerk Leanne's passive healing really helps. Really had to squeeze all the bulk out with this kind of team.

@Maaka Wow, I thought Bartre was going to kill Seiros, but Fir finally gets to shine and impress her dad.

@Jugdral Lover/iggy/Safer Wow, I don't think I've seen anyone use Jamke in these before. Cool editing with the Rain and Thunder versions too.

    @LordFrigid

Procrastinated on trying the map, and quickly found out I don't really have the means to damage Seiros with my usual stuff unless I brought some kind of cheese, but I wouldn't have enough firepower for other stuff. Also haven't bought the dancer Elincia manual with toilet paper yet. Decided to just go with something different in the end.

@SatsumaFSoysoy: Thats one super though Duessel. Having no problems with Osian and 3ven taking 0 damage from a iceburg special.  They really went all out with that unit.

I guess someone in IS must really like him. Not complaining though, I like him a lot. He's more interesting than some of the other old man characters in the series imo.

Yaas Winter Hilda. I managed to get enough copies to +10, but haven't gotten around to farming feathers yet. Boey still proves to be a good tank, especially with the help of three pink twintails.

On 1/17/2021 at 5:14 AM, Maaka said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy lol Duessel is kind of crazy. I'm always afraid to run into him in any map because he is so difficult to take down if he's alone. It's amazing how easily he can solo maps like this. Nice job!

I liked seeing the last red mage suffer -17 Atk and -13 Def.

Overprotective father murders everything in a 10 tile radius.

On 1/17/2021 at 5:33 AM, Diovani Bressan said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy Oh wow! Duessel is so strong! I remember having problems in defeating him in the Chain Challenges! Pretty cool to see him destroying everyone.

I hate seeing him as an AI opponent. My auto battles all lose to him too.

Hm, nice kitsunes. Especially the one with wings. Must be some special breed. Grats on the +Spd NYKaden. Are you going to +10?

On 1/17/2021 at 8:18 AM, BoaFerox said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy Love Duessel, so happy he got to be strong. His massive bulk has helped me auto clear a lot of maps.

    Same here. Always reliable.

Freyja, Tana and Azura, with Hector to pulse. A cultured team.

@SatsumaFSoysoy – Daddy Duessel is disgusting, LOOOL, I am scared of the person who +10s four of him for Arena.

I've yet to see a +10 one, but yeah, that's scary stuff.

Elise rolled her cute face all over this map. Not much to say other than it was sad for them.

@SatsumaFSoysoy  Slow and steady won the race here. Hel, Lilina and Brunnya were in no rush to finish off their opponents. Nice clear!

I think it was literally impossible for Lilina or Hel to die unless I let Veld hit them or something.

On 1/17/2021 at 9:52 AM, Landmaster said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy– I actually still don’t have a single Kaden, while I have all the other Fates Beasts, including their Seasonals. I don’t know why he continues to evade me. I’m actually tempted to at least get one copy of the NY Version.

Ah, the evil Mystic Boost Hel who will never have to worry about dying. Good that Lilina could handle everything on her side so the trench didn’t bother her too much.

RIP on Kaden. Hope you have better luck in the coming days with him.

  12. @Diovani Bressan Huh, Python in a one-turn clear. It's rare to see bow cavs other than LLeif in these.

Mila definitely pisses all over LAzura lol. Hard to say if it's hilarious or sad in that regard. Delthea's new art is so nice.

@Maaka Wow, a Gray in the flesh. The horseslayer certainly helped.

@Some Jerk For how much people keep making fun of Duma, he's certainly quite strong in these situations. I don't have him myself, though. It was kinda funny seeing him say stuff like "Witness my strength" while moving backwards one space every turn.

@Flying Shogi I used to like using my Clair a lot, but then powercreep happened, and I never really got the chance to merge her up due to other projects. Nice seeing her used here with her handy Prf.

@NSSKG151 Wow, a Lukas. He's pretty useful as long as no mages or dragons are involved, and there were quite a few physical units for him to tank.

    @Landmaster

I probably could've done a Celica solo if I wanted to, but this was more fun. I like to think of Brave Celica and Fallen Celica as separate entities.

  13. @Maaka Odd Tempest sure is handy for these one-turn clears. It's rare that OG Fir gets to fight indeed.

@Diovani Bressan Welp, that was a massacre for the EP one. Nowi's new weapon does look a lot more like snot. The fairies one was also a bit sad... That's weird that they never broke the walls, despite the AI clearly capable of doing so on other maps.

@Landmaster The Elises definitely don't like being separated like that. Don't blame you for using dance for that one. Nice father-daughter double duo team, though. I honestly thought you were going to do Selkie + Kaden and Velouria + Keaton, but this is fine too.

@Sasori Liberating Thracia is a very good idea. Sara is helpful for getting rid of Stone if she manages to be in range, and I definitely did bring her to the final map in Thracia. Surprised you got 3/4 of the banner units so quickly.

@BoaFerox RIP Brad. Cormag did great, taking care of Veld.

Here's mine. Decided to limit myself a bit and bring along Mareeta, whom I used to kill Veld in my Thracia run. Just revenge.

  14. Sorry for being late, last few days had a lot of holidays so I spent a lot of time with family.

On 12/26/2020 at 8:42 PM, Diovani Bressan said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy Your Celica always impress me. And now she heals more as well? Nice!

It's kinda hilarious that with her Repel at full strength you can do 21 displayed damage, have it reduced to 13, and then it all no longer exists after that combat so you can't chip her down to kill her.

On 12/26/2020 at 10:57 PM, Maaka said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy Wow Celica destroyed those people at the beginning. That healing in her refine is really crazy with the mystic boost seal. It's amazing that she ended up with full hp at the end without needing to be healed by Veronica once. Kagero did a great job picking off the blues that Celica didn't want to deal with. Nice job!

Maybe I could drop Veronica/cav healer for something else if I'm running this set.

Spring Fir's NFU came in handy for that armor at the start. I was hoping for Leapin' Smash to finish and Bartre delivered.

That's a really high framerate on your vid. Maybe I just didn't notice before.

On 12/27/2020 at 12:28 AM, BoaFerox said:

Thanks! Dorothea was actually important, but not because of her assistance in movement. The green armor would actually survive with 1HP if Ephraim didn't have the +7 Atk buff from Hone Atk 4. I could have fixed this by using trait fruit on Ephraim to make him +Atk, but I'm still too indecisive to use those haha. But yeah, I technically could have chosen to not move Dorothea at all I guess, but I like to not use the cheat button Duo Skill if I can do without it.

Very nice clear, that's quite the Celica you have there! I usually see the more player phase Galeforce oriented variant, but she does incredibly well like this too. That refine is so strong for her, no matter the role.

I see. Yeah, the Duo button is definitely a cheat code lol. But it's in the game, I guess.

Being able to run both one of the strongest infantry sword Player Phase sets and an Enemy Phase set that can contend with the best is definitely Celica's selling point, I'd say.

On 12/27/2020 at 4:34 AM, Landmaster said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy - Nice thumbnail and music~ Celica still enjoying that tank build. It is fun to see her playing both roles so well. Since Kagero’s already so lethal on offense, it helps to have such a good mixed phase partner.

Yeah, not every map has to be a mad dash to gain map control anymore, though that does make things a lot simpler. I might try to limit myself to mostly using the Player Phase set from now on.

Ooh, Odd Recovery. What happened to your Summoner Supports? This looked quite tough overall. The Elises definitely don't like being forced into a corner, as Plumeria Abyssal previously showed, but you did well. Shaman in the Dark is such a good song.

    On 12/27/2020 at 1:03 PM, NSSKG151 said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy I guess Celica with never have to worry about HP being an issue with both her prf and mystic boost healing her. Nice clear! I may have used Deadeye on NY!Anna once before though I think Glacies usually does more damage in most matchups. I just went with Deadeye because I wanted to deal big damage to the axe flier for being a nuisance with their rally the entire time.

Makes sense, since Glacies punches through high Def while Deadeye only doubles damage. Destroy that flier!

On 12/28/2020 at 11:24 AM, Alexmender said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy B!Celica has gotten so much power with that Mystic Boost seal. She can comfortably ditch Aether because with the seal, her Prf and Repel she has more than enough sustain to practically take down the map on her own. I also noticed that B!Veronica doesn't have her refine equipped, meaning Celica ran with basically bare minimum support and even then she plowed through the map like it was nothing. Crazy stuff! I kinda wish Eirika could do that kind of stuff, but she's more of a team player and that's ok.

I actually didn't realize Veronica didn't have her refine equipped... So some of those kills would've been ORKOs instead and even easier, huh.

To be fair, Celica still needs an ally nearby to use her Prf's acceleration in Enemy Phase, so I guess she's not entirely a one-woman army, but still pretty close. It's funny, though... I always envied people with strong DC sword tanks, and sometimes joked about how I ended up +10ing the one sword unit who doesn't do DC. How the tables have turned.

Darting in and out of danger with teleports is always exciting to watch. I'd say this map is EP oriented, so this must have been a challenge.

All Celicas are good Celicas, even -Atk. Bonus Doubler goes well with Nowi's new refine, though I have a Stance 4 on mine instead. True damage definitely helps with the bane on Celica.

On 12/28/2020 at 12:07 PM, Unknown Gamer11 said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy Sheesh the sustain on Celica there is just absurd, and I love seeing Kagero's visible attack stat hitting the 70's. Also, I was happy to recognize the song was May'n before I checked the description, since I've only heard her Macross stuff.

I don't really listen to a lot of May'n's stuff in general, but this song was for an anime called Aquarion Logos, which I watched because I was a fan of the original Aquarion. It was pretty shit but at least the song is good, since it's composed by Yoko Kanno.

That's a nice FE6 team. I actually don't have a single one of these units, despite trying for Idunn and Guinevere. Guinevere definitely hard counters Lilina. Idunn handled the armors with ease, and Melady and Lugh teamed up to deal with the rest.

On 12/29/2020 at 3:27 AM, Sasori said:

@SatsumaFSoysoy : No one can drop Chad anymore with the full healing kit. Though he wasn't the only one having fun with the mystic boost seal. Celica got a lot of use out of it. With the speed and healing little on the map could stop her and her bonfires.

I feel like a lot of units can have synergy with the Mystic Boost seal. It's a great addition.

  15. @Some Jerk Huh, Distant Ward Leanne. Alright. Was effective for sure on this map. Quite amusing that you call A!Azura Puddle.

@Diovani Bressan Lol Tiki the dance bot. And also kill you extremely hard bot. I didn't know one of her damaged quotes was literally "Oof" lol.

@NSSKG151 Damn, Deadeye on NYAnna. Don't think I've seen you use that before? Damage reduction certainly ruins Lilina's day.

@Sasori Damn, even with the Ruse on Lilina hit Raigh like a truck. The boys made it through fine, though. Chad proving to be even more indestructible than before with double Mystic Boost and the dagger.

@BoaFerox Strong Tana is cool. I guess you didn't even really need Dorothea either since Ephraim could just Duo skill to boost himself to the green armor at the start?

I actually finished this early for once but then fell asleep before I could send it lol. I was going to try and challenge myself and go back to using Celica's Player Phase set instead, but I wanted to show off Mystic Boost seal.

    @Landmaster @Alexmender @LordFrigid @daisy jane

  16. @Maaka Nice children lead by Naga. I guess to Naga, adult Caeda is still a child too.

@Diovani Bressan Wow, only three units for the one turn, you show-off. Then again, I guess it's fair considering how broken Duo Tiki is. NCD on Marth made a huge difference in the regular clear.

@Landmaster Damn, Caeda annihilated Hrid there. She was the star I'd say.

@daisy jane This Caeda opener is definitely popular lol. Spendthrift Norne proves to be strong once again.

Unfortunately no clear from me this time. I have a severe lack of tools for this, with no Young units except Minerva, no Phina, no OG Caeda, not much skill investment/merges in general. I barely managed to figure out Infernal with FKris, SPalla, SEst and FTiki, but with Abyssal stats it's impossible. Even if it is somehow possible, I don't have any more time to devote to this game. This is the first Limited I've failed to clear, sadly.
