Silvercrow
Rules (adapted from Integrity's) - Ratings are for Normal Mode. - Votes need some explanation regarding their gameplay performance to be counted. If somebody else said what you want to already, quote them explicitly. +/- ≤1 point extra regarding personality/appearance is encouraged, but no more. If you exercise your bias privileges, please do so explicitly. - Votes are made out of 10. You cannot rate a unit above 10 or below 0. - The rating topic will be updated whenever I feel like it, but I will try to allow at least 24 hours for each topic. They will generally be updated at around noon EST. - A character being inferior relative to another character does not explicitly reduce their rating. - Characters do not get credit for recruiting others or allowing access to side quests. - Assume that the character in question is being recruited. - Characters do not get credit for bringing items. - I reserve the right to ignore any votes which are not well-supported. - You may allow a character to use scrolls (and adjust their rating appropriately) so long as it is reasonable (you may debate what constitutes "reasonable" if you feel people may disagree with you). You cannot arbitrarily increase a unit's score by arguing that they may exclusively use half a dozen scrolls for themself. In general, scrolls will probably not add more than +1 to a character's overall rating. - Warp skipping has an impact on scores in so far as "Safy has an high base staff rank". Nanna would score lower than Safy because of her lower rank, but no chapter is explicitly said to be skipped. You can't get Warp and then suddenly say every character after doesn't exist or requires turns to recruit. Something could be said of Xavier, or Conomore/Amalda who are in an escape chapter where Leaf starts next to the escape point. Robert: 2.33 Ronan: 2.42 Alva: 2.5 Marty: 2.89 Kein: 3.5 Tanya: 3.82 Dalsin: 4.38 Trude: 4.69 Evayl: 5.02 Selphina: 5.37 Glade: 5.75 Hicks: 5.89 Fred: 6.00 Brighton: 6.90 Machua: 7.03 Olwen: 7.05 Mareeta: 7.13 Halvan: 7.35 Carrion: 7.54 Dagda: 7.54 Rifis: 7.70 Leaf: 8.18 Shiva: 8.26 Salem: 8.30 Karin: 8.50 Pahn: 8.66 Felgus: 8.79 Othin: 8.86 Tina: 8.90 Lara: 8.92 Fin: 9.06 Nanna: 9.13 Safy: 9.48 Asvel: 9.58 An extremely useful prepromote who basically has everything you could ask for: decent base stats, a flying mount outdoors, a high sword rank indoors, an extremely good personal weapon, decent PCC, and some movement stars. He will probably be outperforming Karin when he joins and continue doing so for the remainder of the game. That said, his availability is mediocre, and his less impressive evasion than Karin's means that fielding him near large amounts of ballistae can be risky (although their AI can often be manipulated into attacking other units). Overall though, he's just plain good. 8/10 Edited June 24, 2012 by Silvercrow
Esaka
Dragon Spear Flight Solid Bases. Nice. 8/10 Edited June 24, 2012 by Esaka
Icon of Sin
Another prepromoted unit, but he has a lot of perks that make him more useful than fillers like Fred. First and foremost, he flies and, unlike Karin, his combat is especially good. He even has his own lance, a 16 Mt juggernaut with Hero effect and Ambush, which makes it perfect to capture many enemies, especially Dark Mages. He performs especially well against them in 14x considering he can strike down from a mountain and fly back after capturing one, while Pegasus Riders aren't much of a threat to him. Even without the Dragon Lance, he has a PCC of 3, which makes even the common Javelins vicious in his hands. He starts with a pair of A ranks for both mounted and unmounted combat and he even has 2 movement stars. 18 terrain-negating movement in a single turn can be put to many good uses. He has mutual supports with Eda, who could use the help, and Linoan, who is most likely not in his range. In terms of stats, his bases are quite solid like Fred and Glade before him, if even better. He also has great growths and will probably only require a scroll to avoid criticals. Baldo or Fala is probably best for him. Brings a spammable lance and doesn't require much ressources, but his output is extremely useful for the team. 8.5/10.
Mikado
DEEEAAAN! This guy is awesome! He’s bulky, has an instant A in Swords and Lances, good supports and has his own Lance which kicks ass. He may be slow, but a little help from the Sety scroll will help with that. Best flyer in the game! Use him! 10/

PuffPuff
Now I can go on and on about this guy. Okay, you'll want to use him every run. I repeat. Every run. He flies, great for capturing, and can get even more h4x with the Dragon Lance. Which has both a brave-like effect and gives Dean the Ambush skill when equipped. Not like he needs it though. He'll also do fine with Killer and Silver. But also, look at dat weapon ranks of his. Both A. Means that he'll be great to use indoors. Gets a support bonus from both Eda and Linoan. But since only Linoan is any good to use in supporting, this will ensure that he almost will never get supported. Since Linoan's movement is crap until class change. If you want to make better use of this support pairing, you will want to rescue Linoan and drop her by him. He'll also need a Blagi scroll too for his bad luck to give him better dodge later as well as getting decent throughout the rest of the game. He will need a scroll anyway to keep himself from getting critted, especially from Mages. Master Sword, Kill Sword, King Sword, and or along with Hero Sword also will fit well with this guy in combat. A must for indoor combat. Well, if you have the Dragon Lance, don't be afraid to use it up. As you won't get to use it beyond Chapter 23. Since every other chapter beyond that are all indoors. But because of his bad Mag and not being able to dodge very well, he will be easy prey to status staves and will just be an obstacle in the field around Dark Mages with Fenrir, or any other Mages with distant tomes. It is recommended to give him the Heim scroll for several chapters upon his joining time to get him better Mag for the upcoming chapters ahead. But if your using characters like Pahn for instance at the same time, then you will want to give your other characters some of that Heim scroll's boosts. As they will want some of it's bonuses too. But since flying is by far greatest to cover ground than any other unit's and needing him to capture. Especially since some of these chapters later in the game are timed and you will need him to get some of the enemy's things a little bit easier. Since the game pretty much cannot be completed without them. He is vital to use in every run for quicker chapter completion. As his good BLD makes him incredible for rescues. Especially, since it's hard to cover any ground in Chapter 14X without fliers rescuing and dropping units. As they are on the damn mountains with alot of trees. I seriously doubt that you can complete this game without him. Because of his base stats along with the double A rank. It's as if IS is telling you to use him and you should. Because you may never be able to complete the game without him. Overall, someone to use in every playthrough. Use him and you won't regret it. 9/
bottlegnomes
If only his dismounting losses weren't huge and he could use the dragon lance indoors. 8.5/

He still rocks nonetheless 9/10 I never bother to get it either. Not worth wasting Mah Warp and Rescue uses when I need em for Chapters 19, 22, and 24X. Jave
Dragon Lance is great but the fact you have RNG abuse or waste Warp/Rescue to get it kinda loses a point. Despite that, Dean is an awesome pre-promote with great bases, and is usable all the way to the end (even though his awesomeness highly decreases indoors). Flying utility is also great in this game, so Dean is never a hidrance. 9/
bottlegnomes
Funnily enough, I've never actually gotten it, or used Dean for that matter.

Non-Existent Member
Dean, has his own personal weapon, Dragon Lance, which allows 2 consecutive hits and gives Ambush skill. He can enemies very easily with his Lance. He also have A rank in Swords, so he can be decent indoors. 8/
