  1. My favorite theme team is the Whitewings: Est, Palla, Catria, & Minerva! I have the spring variants too, so that can add some variety. Although, it has been awhile since I've had the opportunity to field them all together, since HM caps are a thing. But it's still fun to get them together if I can! Now, if only I could +10 Minerva. Perhaps one day IS will let me realize my dreams and release her from the limitations of being an older 5* exclusive.

Yeah, no. I don't think IS is stupid enough to essentially spit in the faces of those who bought Three Houses by giving them a freaking 1-star unit (which only exist as rewards for the daily Hero Battles anyways). That's just going a bit too far in doubting them.

Yeah, I agree. I think it's most likely that he'll come as a 5*, since, after all, he's not actually "free," given we have to pay $60 or so to buy the game.

  3. The Infernal version threw me off for a little bit, since I tried to have Tiki tank things, and was confused when she was unable to. But then I remembered the new dragonkiller buff Naga could give, and so that all made sense. After tailoring my strategy to position Tiki such that she didn't eat so many dragonkiller attacks, things worked out quite well.

That, and anti-RD Ike or any other DC sword unit. And I say mainly RD Ike because he's a free unit.

I'm incapable of coming up with my own infernal strategies on LHBs/MHBs, so... I wish IS would just make these a little easier for people like me. I don't like having to use videos all the time, I feel lame doing it. I would rather accomplish these things on my own like I do a lot of other content in the game.

On 5/30/2019 at 4:57 PM, Anacybele said:

And I said I already competed it. There are more orbs for infernal difficulty. Maybe just keep the orbs for hard and lunatic only and give something different for infernal like with abyssal.

In the end I used Phoenixmaster's video. Glad it worked even with my RD Ike merged and +Def.

Just thought I'd juxtapose these two comments of yours, because, apparently, RD Ike both was, in your estimation, hard locked out of this quest, and also critical to its completion.

Not anyone can beat infernal LHBs/MHBs though. I just said that I can't. And I'm certain I'm not the only one. And sure there's reason for getting stronger in the game, there's arena, AR, and lunatic maps and such. LHBs and MHBs aren't the only high difficulty maps out there.

Why should everyone be able to beat the infernal difficulty? It is supposed to be difficult. If just anyone could do it, then it wouldn't be difficult.

Not trying to butt in your argument but I really dislike this sentence. You absolutely can clear anything with only your favorites as long as you're willing to give them everything they need to succeed. I mean, that's one of the points I try to show in my Eirika videos, she's a Gen 1 infantry sword with mediocre skills and a pathetic 26 base Atk and even she can defeat bloated Abyssal monsters. Granted, it requires a specific team of cheerleaders and rare skills like DC/Wrath/Null Follow Up to bring the most out of her but that just proves that any unit can be godly as long as you put the effort of bringing them to that level.

FEH encourages using different teams with the x-emblem quests and the blessing system for Arena/AA/AR but it's up to you if you want to do them, in terms of beating maps you absolutely can do it with just 1 team.

To be fair, Eirika also has a very good refine on her weapon that can really help compensate for her low atk. Although I do agree, I often usually just use a few of my favorite characters in completing content like this. Tiki helps me clear most difficult content.

While I don't want to detract from your Eirika videos, I think perhaps the best showcase for favorites being used to clear everything was Zeo's videos with Matthew. Matthew doesn't have a unique weapon, special refine, and is pretty poorly rated on tier lists. But, despite that, he could regularly be used to clear the most difficult content.

That said, your clear video was awesome! I think I might +10 Eirika someday...

If I got a dollar for every time I saw you saying this or that is bad game design, I could probably do my groceries for a week.

Using different units and having 180 five stars is not the entire story. You said you tried every combination. I care to disagree, and though i will have to assume some things, i will be conservative with my estimates:

You have 180 five star units, and can build a team of four. For the sake of skipping teams that consist of 4 red or 4 blue units, we’ll cut down the amount of units to 1/4th so every colour gets represented. That lowers the amount of combinations of units drastically.

We get 45 red x 45 blue x 45 green x 45 grey = just over 4.1 MILLION possibilities alone. Then you have to factor in A,B,C, Assist, Special skills and seals. The combinations are pretty much endless, even when lowballing the numbers.

So no, it is not bad game design, it is just you not putting in the effort, blaming outside sources, mismanaging resources, not having insight and lacking game knowledge that are the cause of your frustration.

Just to drive this home even further, let’s say you couldn’t clear the infernal difficulty (yes i saw you managed with a guide, but stay with me here.) You still claim it is bad game design and are of the opinion that infernal should not have orbs as a reward.

Then Jimmy comes along and he isn’t able to clear Naga’s HARD mode. He claims everthing after hard mode just has inflated stats and that it’s bad game design. Some people might be able to clear it but he can’t, and others might also not be able to. He tried multiple teams and still couldn’t beat the map on Hard mode. It’s just unfair from the game and the rewards from hard mode and above shouldn’t be orbs because they lock them away from players that can’t beat them and that’s unfair.

Should we now remove all orbs as rewards from hard mode and above because Jimmy wasn’t able to clear hard mode or is Jimmy just not good enough and does he have to practice more and try more strategies?

Abyssal is the current skill ceiling and it only gives cosmetic bragging rights, it’s for the best of the best. Everything lower than that is not yet the ceiling so IS is completely fair in expecting you to try to reach higher and reward you for good plays. And if you don’t succeed now, there is always later, and you can come back when you have progressed with your game knowledge. And if you grow, you’ll be able to climb, until you hit their ceiling.

Until that time, a quote from the Dark Souls(?) community: GIT GUD (and quit blaming everything except yourself)

Well said! Your savageness is appreciated.

If you notice, people are also complaining about there being new units as well. Maybe IS should just release a banner with no heroes on it whatsoever? That surely would appease both sets of people!

I jest, of course, but the video itself has an overwhelming ratio of likes to dislikes, so the people complaining are just a minority.

What I wonder is how isolation stops dancing. Status debuffs go away after you end your unit’s action, so how’s it going to stop you from being danced if your move’s already over before dancing can even be used?

As you say, it probably won't stop units from being able to be danced, so it will need to be applied to the dancer instead, if you don't want the dancer to dance. It can further throw a wrench into dance-centric AR teams by forcing typical rally-dance setups to attack instead of rallying and getting danced. The skill would probably be too powerful if it could completely block the assists through the entirety of the enemy phase.

  6. The new characters all have great art, and it's nice to see Pent & Louise finally in the game, albeit in seasonal form! I'll likely be saving most of my orbs, with maybe a few pulls for Tanith. Good luck to everyone who's pulling!

No, let's not merge the threads. You're the only one that wants that, as it makes the posts confusing to anyone who reads through the thread from the beginning. Instead, the thread you started can just be locked, which solves the problem of there being multiple threads for everyone else.

Dragons are everything! I've been meaning to build Corrin up for a long time, so I finally decided to go all in for her. The manaketes are just so good. I had enough feathers to send her straight from +0 to +10, so, while I haven't used her much yet, she'll see plenty of action in the future!

While I'm at it, I'd like to update the pics for my preexisting 5*+10 units, since now they've had their banes removed and such. I'll put them in the spoiler:

  10. @Zeo Congrats on finally finishing Matthew! He looks great! It really can be quite a pain waiting for those last few copies of a unit to show up. I remember raising Fir from +0 to +10 while waiting for the last two copies of Cherche.

Nino & Lukas are awesome as well. I have plans to eventually +10 my Lukas as well. I really like the Steady Breath build on yours.

  11. As far as I can tell, no one has suggested Tiki as a potential Mythic Hero, so I shall be the first! This would be particularly apropos in reference to the Future Past DLC.

Besides, she needs this to maintain the symmetry of alts she has with her younger self! There's a regular adult and young Tiki, there's summer versions of each... and, since there's a Legendary version of the younger one, having an adult Mythic would return balance and order to the world!

  13. The further details lists the characters & titles that will have merged tallies. Basically, most characters from Shadow Dragon/New Mystery, along with the Tellius games. The exceptions for this rule are if the characters are the same but go by different names (so, basically, Severa from Awakening & Selena from Fates will be under a different tally), there's a certain period of time where the character has changed (I think it's pretty much young v. adult Tiki), and if the character has changed substantially between games (so someone like Hardin).

    So, who's everyone voting for?

Wow, some really great and rare additions, congrats everyone!

@Astellius What a beautiful family, congrats!

I like the bond theme on Catria, those Bonfires will hurt. Did you consider using Swap instead of Draw back?

I like the bonds as well! They turn her into a great speed tank with good sustain, thanks to Renewal. And I think she has access to Swap, although I pretty much always keep Draw Back on her. Draw Back gives her more mobility than Swap, especially on the first turn, since it also lets her pull an ally forward, giving her an effective movement range of 3. It also keeps an ally next to her when she's using it to advance into the enemy's range.

Hey, remember Bartre's +ATK/-RES or +SPD/-HP problem? Well, the sins problems of the father are visited upon the children.

Fir's got the same issue. I've got her  *4 supermerged to +9 and I can go +ATK/-RES or +SPD/-HP.

+ATK/-RES gives her a much needed offensive boost up to 30/38 for offense which is decent. At the cost however of some of her heralded RES leaving her at a paltry 30 RES.

+SPD/-HP on the other hand, frees up her RES to a superior 33, boosts her SPD to 37 which is a massive 41 natural SPD, but her ATK takes a nosedive down to 27. 27/41 offenses are pretty pitiful in my opinion. Both Wo Dao and Slaying effect are stellar but the lack of killing power hurts.

Which nature is better? Especially factoring in that the upcoming update gets rid of banes.

Given the pending update, you can essentially just ignore the bane, simplifying the choice to just that between +Atk and +Spd for the boon. For my 5*+10 Fir, I went with +Atk over +Spd. Without the Atk boon, she'll be pretty much totally dependent upon specials to do damage. She really appreciates a bit more attack, moreso, in my opinion, than speed. So the Atk boon is what I recommend.

  16. The sisters are finally complete! I was able to give Palla the refine she was waiting for, and so now I'll post all 3. I had posted Est a long time ago, but I haven't posted the other 2 here yet. I'm posting Est again, though, since she has an updated skill set, as I'd like that to be the pic I have on here (as opposed to the older one). Enjoy the Whitewings!

How so? All I'm saying is that, while Mythic blessings are dumb, the math behind rankings and tiers makes it so whales/lucky summoners can only get so far ahead with them before they hit scoring walls of some kind, enabling other plays to catch up in rank. Quitting the mode because you're not ranking as high as you once were is only going to affect the number of grails you're getting.

But the mythic blessings only benefit the whales, and, while there is a cap on how much anyone can benefit from the mythic blessings, the introduction of the blessings did nothing but only further widen the gap. I don't particularly take solace in the fact that there's a cap because this whole situation created a problem where there was none before. It puts whoever doesn't acquire multiple blessings via summoning at an inherent disadvantage, and this problem will be replicated again for when new mythic heroes are released. One will need to pull multiple copies of those in order to remain competitive when they come out. This will be ameliorated over time, as they start to make blessings available through other means, but, until then, this is all to the detriment of F2P players.

As for me just potentially quitting the mode, it's not simply because of rank, it's because the problems with the mode hinder my enjoyment of it. I'd like to see them address the problems.

  18. 30 minutes ago, Johann said:

As a fellow F2P guy, I take some solace knowing that even the whaliest of whales can only do so much here. Of the people who are currently in Tier 19 (most of whom can safely assumed to be whales, if only going by their lead unit), it's probable that few or possibly even none of them will advance to Tier 20. On top of that, only during Light Season will anyone be able to reach Tier 21, so if those few people don't make it now, they'll be stuck in T20 for 2 more weeks. This will lower the threshold for what constitutes the highest possible score, allowing more players to catch up.

I completely agree that Mythic blessings are, on the whole, dumb. Maybe if a hero could have 2 blessings, one Legendary and one Mythic it'd be less dumb. For now though, simply increasing your tier is an important milestone towards more Grails so I recommend people put even the bare minimum in.

Uh, wtf. This hits the weird spot between being so ridiculous it's obvious trolling and the "I'm so out of it" range. I think the former.

Is it bad that i dont give a shit if i win battles anymore? I mean i try to win but i stoped investing in Aether Raids with the introduction of blessings and mythic heros

    3 hours ago, Rezzy said:

I'm really feeling that Aether Raids is the worst of both worlds with the way its stamina system works.

A: "I'm really exhausted, and don't feel up to doing Aether Raids right now."  Too bad, you have to do it once or twice or risk losing out on Aether.

B: "You know, I really feel like doing some Aether Raids today!"  Too bad, you only have enough Aether to do it once or twice.

    This is so true.

  20. I was able to rise once more to T21, securing another crown for my Feh's head. At a few hours before close, my score of 3,733 was ~400 or so marks above the cutoff. That's a reasonable lead, but certainly not what it once was. There has been a rather significant score inflation, even for non-Fjorm+Water weeks!

On 12/13/2018 at 9:28 PM, DarkAlf said:

I think 3,733 also should hold.  Thank you for sharing!  I'm going to make my serious run tomorrow to get into T21 again; I should be able to get at least 3,735-3,740, maybe even 3,750.

It did, indeed, hold! I'm happy to hear that your serious run also managed to get you back into T21 as well (and by a much larger margin than mine!).

    3 hours ago, DarkAlf said:

@Maaka That's a killer having to replace blessings like that.  Hopefully it won't happen again, but planning really does work most of the time (that's why I made my orb distribution sheet in my signature so that I can decide what to spend orbs on); I imagine that this is a one-time mistake.

    • Arena: T20: 3,746 is rank 1,397/3,498/17,493 to go back to T21 for crown #9 - no defense wins for the first time in a while
    • AA: 5,217 (personal high) is rank 3,328

Next week I can relax in arena.  I wonder if the top 3K cutoff was around 5,223-5,226?

Honestly, I've found that people have been pretty tight-lipped about what the cutoff mark for Arena Assault is. It could also just be that those around the edge don't regularly visit this thread, or otherwise don't share their AA scores.

  21. Last week's score of 3,730 wasn't nearly enough to cut it, given the amount of score inflation due to Fjorm being the bonus hero during water season. However, it was adequate to keep me in T20, so I've another opportunity to rise using Laegjarn as my bonus hero. I obtained a score of 3,733 this time, and it looks like this should be more than enough. I'm at 1,412, while the cutoff is 2,885, which means I'm still in the top 10% for the group. While I'm sure that this will go down some, the buffer is substantial enough that I think it should be adequate.

  22. Like some others have already stated, I agree that there should be no particular "ultimate" cap. Rather, I'm fine with them periodically raising the cap a little at a time, as they have been doing. The current 5k cap has likely been more than enough for most people, but I do expect them to raise the cap on that at some point. I think an adjustment to 6k sometime soon sounds like a reasonable ask. I see no reason to currently project a limit, given they can keep raising the limit over the lifespan of the game.
